Ninja - Welcome! We're happy to have you here :) So what kind of stuff do you write?

For poems, mostly love poems or inspirational ones. On some occasions I write poems for my my close friends and relatives. In terms of stories, a wide range; using the categories on Fictionpress, I write for the following categories: love/romance, spiritual/religion, adventure, and drama. Most of works contain more than one category it's hard for me to really put separate the categories themselves. The last story I wrote was a short story drama-romance that dealt was nothing more than a couple being wedded on their wedding day. I may around that story in the future turning it into more lengthy novel while keeping the short story component. I am currently in the thinking mode of writing another major piece, aside from my three major projects that are all unfinished. If anyone is interested, the link to the site where I publish my writing will be provided at the end of the post (not than I'm advertising myself or anything but solely just for interest sake).

I"ve heard so much of Jars of Clay that I think I may start to invest in them as a new music interest; I know a couple or so songs from them though; a good group. I usually listen to Michael W. Smith or Point of Grace; Rebecca St. James is a great rockin' artist that I've come to enjoy as well!!

Sighs..... what a week... or is month. LOL Anyways my English teacher is turning out to be one of those really hard graders. Like her online tests (quizes) are super hard, lets put it this way, you answer a question you can't go back to that question what so ever. 10 questions per test. You get more than a few wrong your sunk. That's it end of story. By the way, my last paper/ first paper... she hated it or at least she said its not up to par and that it wasn't what it should be for this course. Ok I get it, is it my fault I suck at grammar because teachers in highschool only cared about the reading portion and the grammar portion went down the tubes. I stink at grammar... trying to teach it to myself doesn't work either by the way. Anyways still... I have yet another story to read and another test which sometimes she doesn't post till way late.... like a week late! So even if you finish and go to work on other classes you end up waiting a few days to even take the quiz. Right now I'm staring down the barrel of an F in her class, and well all I can say is I hope I can at least bring my grade up to a D or more hopefully a C. A B or an A would be surprisingly wonderful... and that would be amazing. Still thanks for letting me vent all. Just too much stress, between this class, theater appreciation class, a drawing class, and a public speaking class I am under a crushing load of work and stuff to do and figure out. Let's put this way... No fun,No sleep, no stress free days... at least until the semester over. Which is about December. So only October,November, and finally December. ( Remember Thanksgiving "break" is in there too LOL) Anyways thanks again sorry its long. To any other college kids out there I'm sure you've been there.

For me sleeping in is 7:30 or 8am I usually have to get up between 5:30 and 6 for work.

I actually got some cleaning done yesterday and I finished some laundry, so that's good.

Church was pretty awesome today. I heard a lot of great testimonies today. I volunteered to teach the lesson for the youth group next Sunday morning (our youth pastor is focusing on preparing for Wed. nights since he works a full time secular job, so the leaders/workers are divvying up Sunday mornings for a while). Then I got volunteered to lead our young adults class on Thursday night since out leader is going out of town...It's going to be a busy week!!

Sounds like a great service. I went to visit another church with my second fam yesterday; had a blast and the message was very uplifting. The main text came from Phil 4:12-13 and references were made to book of Ephesians and Romans 8. The gist of the message dealt with how we as Christians are setup for success because God, who works in us, gives us the power to live for Him in a Christ-like way, even in our failures. It was really good and inspired many greatly! Other than that, the music was also great. We grabbed some dinner afterwards at Chevy's and then came home.

Today, didn't do much but drew up, printed out, and passed out some flyers about me needing a place to live. I've already gotten some offers and will be looking at some more as the week comes and goes. I should be working in any day now and I have a job information session to attend this Saturday for another job I applied for. So, yeah, I"m busy. But hey, the sooner I can make this money the sooner I move to Kansas to be with my girlfriend. I just wish it didn't take so long....

Thanks! I hope it all goes well too!

A small update though; there is a job fair tomorrow and I'm checking it out, unless I get the call from the people I'm waiting for with my assignment. Other than that, I have made some progress. I have posted my room rental ad on Craigslist and I've already gotten two responses; so, things seem to be starting well. We'll have happens by the end of the week. Thanks for your prayers, fluff!

Sorry that I haven't had a chance to post in a while, been busy! College is rocking right now, I think I may actually grow to like it in the end! Other than college, I haven't really done anything exciting! Anyways, have a totally stellar rest of the day and I am out of here to go fix supper and maybe get my homework done early so I can watch a movie! (It would be the first time in about four weeks or since college started!LOL!)

Thanks everyone! I'm praying and looking for some doors to open soon; I also looked at some places today and have two others to look at in terms of renting a room. I'll be making my final choice probably this Sunday and will look to move once I have secured a job, hopefully and prayerfully by next week.

It's been kind of a blah day today. I woke up this morning after having a bad dream and just felt kind of ucky. I spent time in the Word though, and that helped as usual. I get to go to young adults tonight. Our leader is out of town and he asked me to lead the same discussion I'm doing with the youth on Sunday morning (Since all but 2-3 of our young adults are youth leaders too).

So how is everyone else doing?

It's not that I haven't heard from a job yet, but rather I have been contracted to work with a company and they signed me up to work with the District of Columbia Public schools (who I worked for before years ago). The hold up is that they have been waiting to receive my fingerprinting clearance to allow me to work. It has come in yet and has been about two weeks. However, yesterday I went down there to find out what the hold up was and I found out they the shipment of clearances haven't come in yet; it should arrive today, right now, as a matter of fact, and would be sorted by 1pm. So, I have two hours to wait to call there and see if it's in. Other than that, I'm essentially ready to work. That's why I haven't been working yet; I am also attending an info training session tomorrow for unrelated position that is part-time for Prince George's County schools (MD) and I am looking forward to that. I'm currently working on looking for housing right now but today I need to go and take care of some business with Wachovia. So, if all goes well and the wait is over, I should be working by Monday indefinitely which I will be very happy about!!!

Here's an update:

No clearances came in today. There are reasons for that which are pretty valid. In the short version, Monday is the grand day that I will know; more is due in on Monday morning and the guy I talked to is going to stay on top of that. It sounded like something was also going on with the person responsible for the FP data directly, not DCPS, but another issue. In all, though, it's not just me who's waiting; other people who have been contracted by Delta T, about 32 of us, have been waiting. Not to mention that the schools with urgent and immediate needs are really trying to get the aides but we can't work until they get our clearances. So, hopefully, I hope to start the job on Tuesday; patience, in all, is really the big factor right now because it is beyond Delta T's ability to do anything right now. So, we'll see. In the meantime, I have a full day tomorrow because I have an information/training session as a Tutor for the PG county AVID school program, which is part time. After that, I am going to look at a room in a house in response to my housing ad on craigslist. So, busy, busy, busy tomorrow.

Tonight I'm just bored; Helen (my girlfriend) and I were so bored that we challenged each other on Fifth Grader tonight; she won by two points. lol....we did agree to some nice terms though so I'm proud to have lost to my precious dove who is smarter than a fifth grader! lol; other than that, just looking to relax and get some sleep tonight because I have a busy Saturday ahead of me and on into Sunday and then Monday. Depending on what happens with this job tomorrow as well as with the contracting job, this may be my last week in DC, but we will see. So,yeah...that's the update!

Welcome Lily! We're happy to have you. I saw the picture and it made me giggle, so I decided it would make a good avatar :)

Ninja- It's so hard to be patient sometimes, isn't it? But as I'm sure you know, it will all work out in God's time. I love "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?". I play along and usually do pretty well, but when I miss a question (or four), I laugh and think, "and I'm teaching 6-8 graders ".

My weekend was pretty quiet, my parents went to the lake this weekend and took Harley, our Westie, with them. Teaching went pretty well yesterday. I was more of a discussion leader than a teacher. It was difficult to get the kids to open up in such large group, but it got better towards the end. It was also my fiancees and my turn to work in the nursery (which I managed to forget all about until it was time!) It's always fun, but also exhausting :)

How was everyone else's weekend?

Yeah, we watched Cheaper By The Dozen 2, it was okay, kind of corny, but it made me laugh!

Still busy with college, getting ready to head on over to English class, hoping today is a better

day than last class! LOL!

How was everyone else's weekend?

It was an okay weekend for me, pretty exhausting. I went to AVID training session on Saturday. For those that know, AVID is a specialized tutor program that provides extra help to those students who are in need of it, only this doesn't take place after school but is an actually special class that is part of the area's school's curriculum. The program consists of AVID teachers/instructors, students, and tutors. The teachers pretty much is the one who leads the class and helps organize the groups; the tutors are more facilitators and actually just help students with finding the answers they are seeking in their work. This is a wonderful program, but unfortunately I won't be able to do this in light of the other job I'm waiting for. Plus, with my transition it won't provide enough income for me, but I am very torn by the fact that this program is something I really want to do. But, because I know about it now I can always apply to other locations; there are some locations in Kansas, in Mcpherson and Wichita, which are the closest locations I"m moving to (hutchinson is where I'm going). But, that's what that was all about.

After that though, I went to look at a place for rent and I enjoyed it very much. Depending on what happens today, I will either get the place or pass it up prior to my departure to Charlotte, NC. On Sunday I accompanied my second fam to a nearby church, and the service went pretty well. While the sermon was good, I'm more an exegetical type of guy and think that those types of sermons are stronger on application and I can remember more about them than I can on topical sermons. After that, just came home and prayed about some things; so, this is pretty much my weekend. Nothing really special.

So, and like I said, depending on what happens with this clearance deal on this one job I have decided to leave it in God's hands. After praying about some things and the way my heart has been pressing heavily on some issues, I am going to trust God that the answer that is given today will be His. So, if the clearance comes in today then I'm staying to work, but if it doesn't then I'm going home to my family in Charlotte, NC where I can get work immediately (with just one phone call) and I start working towards my transition to Kansas immediately. That's plan B; plan C was to stay in Charlotte for a longer period saving more money, but we'll see how things go. I'm just honestly thinking though with the short term plan that once I see my girlfriend again and we end up going back to Kansas (originally for a visit) then I'm not wanting to come back.

Besides, she needs me there and it hasn't been easy for both of us, especially when it concerns some family members here and possibly some friends. We don't have it easy (she's white and I'm black) and already we have experienced some issues concerning this, from supposedly known Christian people. However, she has boldly stood up for us -- the opposition is all on her side at this point-- and I want to be there to stand with her in this time. Meeting her family (her dad's family; her mom's family is cool with me) is going to be a challenge because this is the first time I'm having to deal with racial issues in my relationship. I am also suspecting that there are some other people elsewhere that have their suspicions about me and caused her to do something that really hurt me recently, but I forgave it and laid it to rest -- her intentions behind it were really pure, however, but it was still the fact that she had did this. But part of loving and changing for someone is also about being understanding, sensitive, and looking at things from their view to understand why they do certain things and being able to work out these issues together.

That's what we are all about; so just being there, I believe this other-side tension will calm down and it will actually help boost our relationship greatly. So, anyway, that's what I've been dealing with lately. It hasn't been easy with my homechurch scattered (it's a long story) and by that I mean there was a huge fallout between the elders and the members that left the church completely divided; so, most of us don't go there anymore. On top of that, a friend of mine died recently this past week and I've been dealing with that on the side. And then the other day this situation happens with Helen; so, I haven't had it easy lately but it's okay. I'm looking forward to finally being with her again as well as things working out soon for my transition. So, prayers are appreciate for me in everything right now.

So...anyone else want to share their weekend? lol

It's so sad that you have to deal with this. And from people who claim to be Christians. Grrrrrr....

Thanks MR. We need them; my friend is in heaven with God, so I've rejoiced about that as well as the campus of WBC and others who knew him.

Well, I've known worse people and have been through much myself; largely, I think they just need to get to know me. Regardless, though, I told her that I'm going to get along with her family as best as I can because I do believe they will accept me once they see who I am; if they don't, then I hope we can still find someway to maintain peace between us. I am planning on marrying her but will not proposing to her until probably a bit more than a year from now. There's so much we still need to learn and discuss before that time and there's still some things that she needs time to deal with. So I"m essentially just going to focus in getting my house in order so that when things do go that far (by God's grace) I'll be ready to bring her home as my wife oneday. In the meantime, we are taking our time and letting God lead us. Those obstacles and trials will just be part of what we will have to deal with, together.
