That's funny! Sometimes it is so hard not to laugh hey? When I get that bad I usually have to get up and leave so I don't explode with laughter.

Well, at least you can get up and leave! I got so tickled at our Christmas Musical Practice that I almost fell off the riser I was standing on...not good! (That's what happens when you mix me in high heels, two teenage boys who are trying to sing like girls, and our choir director who can't direct because he is so tickled! Not a wonderful sight, but very funny! Oh, how I LOVE to laugh!!)

LOL!!!

Yeah, laughing sure is great! When I'm beyond tired I laugh at everything and nothing and then my poor husband will just stare at me looking confused. And then he will start laughing which makes me laugh more. And then our pets will come and stare at us wondering if we've gone mad. It's always the funniest when 2 dogs and 3 cats come and just stare at us looking confused.

That comes in the apple cinnamon cider we're all supposed to be drinking

Ok, dog name decided...she's Shamira Petra....LOL. We'll be calling her Mira mostly.

Um....LONG day here....arrived at work at 730, walked out at 1745. Little boy had a today. I'm getting tired of it. Also, the teacher is disregarding our request on our preferred last name.

*waves* at everyone....

Why? What's her problem? If she keeps it up, talk to the principal. It's none of her business what name you use...she just has to respect it. Sheesh!

Well, I'm finally online at school. We're without it at home since we took advantage of a special on DSL and we're waiting for them to get around to us. The guy said it would be Thursday the last time DH spoke to him...I'm not holding my breath though.

Tomorrow's Guirgian so we'll be all dressed up in traditional Kuwaiti dress at school. Then the festival is tomorrow night from 8:30 til 11. I'm working first shift so I only stay if I want to. Hopefully the family will come too if DH is free.

Have a nice day, ladies.

Tamara, why were you catching fish with your hands? Were you helping to feed the bears or what?

Megan lol Shamira Petra is cute! You guys are funny. Why does his teacher keep giving him sad faces??? That makes me mad. My teachers never did that. If we were good/finished reading a book/got a good grade etc we were giving a star or a cool sticker, but never a sad sticker if we did poorly. I would talk to her about that. That can totally scar a young kid and I do not think it is right or fair at all. If I was his age and got sad face stickers I would cry and not want to go back to school and then not try very hard cuz I would feel sad all day.

Jennifer, I hate those sorta dreams.

Eh, I hate to be in unclean water, including pools (not supposed to be in chlorine or anything besides pure water-- even soap). But my senior thesis has to have something to do with a highly polluted (by man) creek that runs through the city. It has a pretty good current and is deep in parts, so I really have to be careful. Plus, the creek isn't made for us to be going in there... so many times we have to park on a bridge/highway and find some dangerous looking way to get down from the bridge to the creek. Talk about steep...and I'm not an outdoorsy girl either. I don't do water. But I did catch some fish with my hands.

I'll post some pics later if I can.

Oh Erin (((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) That is so sad. I can't believe she is gone now... Oh my... Her poor husband... Oh my gosh. And her family. And you. Awwwwww

I wrote a few things in the sahm/w thread. I don't want to copy them and paste them here because of TOS stuff. If you want to you can write there because it is a support thread afterall... and I need the support right now.

Erin, I am so sorry about your friend. That happened to my mom's best friend. She died when she was in her 30s and it was horrible for everybody. ((((((((((ERIN))))))))))

Ok someone was commenting about this thread not having the "spice" yet. So I am going to add some. Some of you know that my husband and I have taken in an exchange student. So we have had like ZERO date time. Now I am not talking about anything sexual, but I do want to do something for him and with him so that he doesn't feel so neglected. I can't get rid of the kids, so we have to get out of the house instead. We have gone for two walks by ourselves since our student arrived, but I want to do something fun. BUT I need to fit it in with homework, extra help with our student and sports. And I want it to be more than just dinner out. Any ideas??????

I'm sick of guilt trips and people thinking I'm a bad mom. This isn't my fault. Or maybe it is...everyone seems to treat it that way. Its been a rough week.... My friend passed away. My friend had a baby (happy but a reminder of the fact that now she's home with her baby, I am not). Well thats all so far but I have enough already before adding more. (Didnt want to spam the thread but the "whole story" is in the working moms thread).

(((((Erin))))))) HUGE HUGS and prayers, hun. I remember you talking about your friend. That's so sad that she passed away. And to the other stuff with the nurse.

Little boy had a start today He keeps getting sad faces because he won't keep his hands to himself. Today he did apparently because he was told he couldn't play with Shamira Petra after school if he didn't behave. As for the last name thing...I don't know why she is not respecting it. I have specifically talked to her, DH has talked to her.

Here's the scenario substituting other name: It's on his paperwork that Smith is his preferred last name, not Johnson. Legally Johnson is his last name until DH adopts him; however, Smith is our family name & the name that he (my son) identifies with. When asked what his name is, he says, "I'm Jeremiah (middle name) Smith. I feel like the teacher is confusing him (and he is confused because she's making him WRITE the Johnson last name). Yes, I understand that the child has to be enrolled by their LEGAL NAME as recorded to the birth certificate. However, every other school I have been in makes accommodations to a person's names. Ie: I've had a Lilliana that went by Lily & refused to go by Lilliana. Others go by Junior & not whatever their first name is. We never made them write the LEGAL name. It's always been a preferred last name. Even in another classroom, I know of a student who is known by a different last name than his legal one.

It's up to the parents & child to figure out what name the child should be going by....not some school teacher. (And yes, this is coming from a school teacher). If a child tells me they would rather be called Bill instead of William or John Smith instead of John Doe....I do it. I don't think that's unrealistic (as long as the preferred name is within reason...I wouldn't accept a child who wished to be called "God" unless that was his or her name...I have had a "Jesus" or two or three or four....so I don't guess it would be unheard of though). On the "legal" paperwork (ie: IEPs), yes the child has to be listed by the name on his or her birth certificate though.

Anyways, that was a long rant. Sorry....

MrsTracy, hmm well I dont know what your town has to offer but maybe a movie, bowling... I think you will find something to do...

Megan, I agree with you they should call him the name he wants and name yall decide to call him... I know teachers always called kids their legal name on first day of school then find out what they perferr and then call them that..

Wow so many people need prayers tonight, I will be praying for you all...

I am going to the doctor tomorrow and hopefully its nothing

(((((((((((((((((((((((ERIN)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Sorry about your friend, and that you're going through such a tough time.

(((((((((((((((((((((((FAITH)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Sorry you're son's teacher is giving you such grief. It's a simple request. I wonder why she won't honour it.
