I can't think of someone from literature right off the top of my head right now - I think I'm in a movie mode right now. I'd have to say - Sidney Poitier as Mack Thackeray in "To Sir with Love" would be one. Handsome, smart, dignified, and committed. Sidney was definitely "the man" back in the day. Keanu Reaves as Alex Wyler in "The Lakehouse." Smart, tender, committed, handsome, thoughtful, handy, principled. [:D] Laman Rucker as Sherriff Troy in "Why did I get Married." Principled, patient, gentle, definite heart-of-gold, and fine. [;)] There are more ... but those are the three that come to mind.
