Hi all,

Our church has been activated as a Red Cross shelter for Gulf coast evacuees (around 200 plus). Please pray for those escaping the storm. Boy does this sound like deja vu, and the same weekend of the anniversary of Katrina. So far, it looks like people are way more prepared, but it still doesn't change the fact that a terrible storm is closing in on the Gulf coast...again. Pray for the evacuees, those that choose to stay behind and those who will be ministering to both groups. Pray that God will be glorified in this storm.

Thanks to all. And please, if you have the inclination, give some to the Red Cross. All reports look like this will be a doozy of a storm and these people may be here a week or more before they can return to their homes.

I took many Red Cross calls after Katrina, and I know that the Red Cross ran out of funds and resources to help so many. [:(]

I work from home, and the red cross hired the company I work with to take alot of the calls prior to giving them a case worker. These were some of the most heart breaking calls I have ever taken. I have to say they were some of the nicest and most well mannered people I have ever dealt with. It was so hard to say NO to some of the items, and some of the things they asked for were things we take for granted. EVEN if you are poor and have resources.......the resources dried up!

Three years later I still get calls asking if they would ever get a case worker or any kind of help. [:(]

I have been praying since the news broke. I was placed on the emergency response team, and I'm sure I will be crispy by the end of the week. I doubt I will be worse off than these poor people.

I agree please donate to the red cross and other organizations that help these people in need. My heart is already starting to sink thinking about taking these calls again.

Prayers for everyone involved.

Dear Heavenly Father I pray for all in the path of this storm.
I pray Lord for their safety and protection.
Lord be with them watch over them and help them as they make preparations.
Lord help all the officials and private and gov agency's to work in a timely, well planned way.
Give them wisdom and insight Lord as to how things should be handled and directed for the best possible outcome.
Lord I pray that you would calm this storm and that it would pass quickly and not continue to gain strength.
Be with all the people Lord who are scared, scarred from past experiences, and feeling overwhelmed.
Help all the people Lord and I pray that families will be kept together and evacuees will feel safe and cared for.
Lord I pray for the children, give them peace and comfort them Lord.
Be with the people Lord and help them through this storm, hold them in your hand and carry them through.
Thank you Lord for those who are ministering to your children, bless them and keep them safe.
Thank you Lord for the Red cross and all others who give of their effort and time to help those in need. Bless them Lord.
Lord I lay this before you asking for your mercy, love and compassion to be with every person.
In Jesus name
Amen

If the hurricane hits in a way that help is needed, a donation telephone number may be displayed during the televised portions of next week's Republican National Convention. These calls would specifically be donation calls and would occur Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

If the need arises, you will be notified via Post Box with all of the details your business will require to support this potential crisis.

Was a note I got recently (partial note at least) from the company that employs my services.

sighhhhh! I remember taking calls from family member trying to find other family members. Donation calls and those calls from those in need. I hate to say dread if filling me up after the email I received.

Thosands are still on the waiting list for help, and now another one is coming. [:(][:(]

Much prayer is needed.

TorchHeart -> RE: Gustav (8/31/2008 1:12:39 PM)

Lord, please have mercy upon the people in the Gulf Coast of the United States. As this hurricane approaches, please help all of those who are leaving to get to higher ground to do so in a safe manner so that people do not get hurt in their rush.

Also, God, please protect those who are staying behind to wether out this storm. Protect them from flooding, lightning, tornadoes, and any other hazard that might accompany this storm. Watch over their property so that it will not be destroyed and may the damage from this storm be minimal. Lord, also protect the animals in this storm. I'm certain that many pets have been left behind to fend for themselves. If this case, please keep your watchful eye on them as well, and may your mighty hand spare them from horrible deaths or injuires as well.

You are merciful, God. We know that this storm is just part of nature. But still, we look to you for you have power of all nature, for you were the creator of all the world. We pray that you will help the people of this area through this storm and prevent what happened in New Orleans 3 years ago from repeating itself in such magnitude.

I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Loving Savior and Protector.

Amen.

I will continue to keep everyone in prayer.
It's was brought to my attention of the name behind Gustav?
Why don't you do some research check it out for yourselves, it's interesting to see and know the signs of times as written in scriptures. However, the Lord also says He will keep you in all his ways and Ps 91 is most powerful of all.

See where the name orginated and the meaning of Gustav, and who named it?

blessings to the body of Christ
