Grace-N-Mercy -> Questions to ask on a first date (8/30/2008 9:55:09 PM)

What kinds of questions do you like to ask, or be asked, on a first date? These questions can be serious or silly.

losgan -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/30/2008 10:35:49 PM)

I like to ask how they feel about what they do - it really reveals a lot about someone, and their attitude towards life in general.

John_O -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/30/2008 11:33:36 PM)

What is your name?
What is your goal in life?
What is the average airspeed of an unburdened swallow?

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/30/2008 11:38:21 PM)

How many licks does it take to get to the centre of a Tootsie Pop?

Who put the bop in the bop she bop she bop? Who put the ram in the ramalamadingdong?

What kind of cheese is the moon made of and why do you think that?

Who shot JR?

Prairiehiker -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/30/2008 11:43:36 PM)

hmmm...I was just in one of those things (not sure to call it a date, it was a first meeting). let's see...what did I ask him......

I remember asking him where does he aim for when he's shooting a moose and how many shots does it take him to kill one. That's probably not a good example, lol. But it got him talking about something he was passionate about....and I learned a bit about hunting. And he mentioned he plays the guitar and sings, so we played a guessing game as to what type of music did I think he plays. I came close. My first guess was folk music, then second was country rock. He looked a lot like some country music dude, which I have no clue, because I don't listen to country music (the goodlooking ones, like Keith Urban, I watch with the sound off, lol). I was right in my second guess.

So, I don't know. I wasn't that interested so, we just kept the conversation going.....with no direction other than to make the guy feel like he had a decent conversation. Though I think I sounded like a total airhead, lol.

And yeah, I had to ask him his name as I forgot.

Ooh, this is a good one. And it can branch off in a number of different directions.

[8D] Hmmm.... #1 is kinda assumed... well, unless it's a blind date.
#2 is good... would you ask "what is your #1 goal in life" or a top-ten list? How would you ask that question?
#3 is only reserved for when I go out with an engineer. [:D]

Great answers so far... Here's the one question I started with when I began this thread: "What is your faith story?" This isn't asking where they go to church or how often they read their Bible, but how they came to know Christ, their spiritual journey, and where they're heading now. It's an open-ended question so they can take it in any direction they like.

I can actually see myself using these!! [:D]

Oh, how could I have forgotten this one: "One more question: All's fair in love and war. True or False?"

This is what I usually try to do... find what he's interested in and just start asking questions.

Oh, and I had to laugh re: turning the sound off!! [:D] Y'know, Country Music does have some good singers.... [;)]

"I dated Faith for just a short while back in High school. She was really hot but had the intelligence of a mine canary. Got really boring after a date or two.

Why did you want to know about her?"

I love Christianese. If you hadn't explained what you were really looking for I would never have known how to answer. I'd never heard the phrase before in my life.

Actually all three are from the same movie.

Oooh, that one's from How to lose a guy in 10 days! I like that movie, though I'd be a little worried if I got asked that on a date.

Prairiehiker -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/31/2008 10:23:29 AM)

I never ask overly serious question during the first date. But the few that i ask are:

-So, what's your family like?
-How many siblings do you have and how often do you see/talk to them
-I ask holiday related questions like what does he do around Christmas time, Thanksgiving, Easter. Answer should give you a bit of an indication about whether he's just religious or know Christ, and should give you a hint of what he's family life is like.
-If he's got a kid, I ask how often does he see them (answer is either a deal maker or breaker.)

I keep it tied up in the back yard.

But I live with my daughter[:D]

WaitingforBoaz -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/31/2008 4:26:42 PM)

"Tell me about your church" will be the only digging I will do on a first date. If other things come up, great, if not this "question" will help me decide if there will be a second date.[:D] Alot will be revealed as they talk about their church.

Yeah, I could see where that would scare someone to death!! [:D]

9drtr -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (8/31/2008 8:14:48 PM)

The most important question I know is, "Is murder an option?"

humbleinspirit -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (9/1/2008 12:12:01 AM)

Women: Don't bring up marriage on the first date. [8D]

So, you think proposing/asking "will you marry me?" on the first date is a no no?

Yes Prairie, ever see the movie Baby Mama? [:D]

John_O -> RE: Questions to ask on a first date (9/1/2008 11:17:07 AM)

Do you always smell like that?
(Whether they smell good or bad this question is always wrong)

Did you realize that if your connect the dots with your freckles they form a map of Massachusetts?

OK. How about. Do you follow any particular sports? Followed by What's your favorite team?
(this way I can weed out those perverse dallas and minnesota fans[:D] )
