That looks kinda like the Klingon language. (Yes, I know I just totally pegged the Geek-o-meter off-scale.)

Oh, I've got a good question. This one was asked in a group setting the other night and got great responses.

"If you could wake up tomorrow morning anywhere in the world, where would it be?"

What if he answers "beside you", what would you do?

Hmmm, I would first say "awww, that's sweet. Now focus... think... tomorrow morning! Where would it be?" If he were to persist, I'd tell him to quit the fantasies and get back to the serious question.

To answer that question would be a TOS violation.

Ooh Ooh ooh that just reminded me of another classic I learned long, long ago before I was saved:

"I make a great breakfast. Should I call you, or just nudge you."

It actually worked too! But for some odd reason she wasn't too impressed with Capn Crunch. At least the bowls were clean though.

(Of course part of that story is false)

The most important questions to me always revolve around the person's love for Jesus and their passion for Him.

This would be my standard answer:
In a sleeping bag on top of some mountain peak in Colorado to watch the sunrise.....and I'll ask him to come along, if I like him, but I'm not sharing my sleeping bag.

How about this:

If you won a million dollars (not sure if that is a lot where you guys live; here it still means something), what would you do with it. It's a playful question, but his answer can tell a lot about his views about money.

I also like the question, "what are the ten things that you love the most?"

Okay, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that! Robb - get out of my head!!!!!!!

PH - good questions!

For me, I have to get the sports ones in.....sorry, just have to. Also, I want to know about his church involvement - not just attendance.

But, I'd also ask about where he sees himself in five years....to get an idea of he has any goals/dreams for his life.

Believe it or not, I have a male friend who imagines what a girl would look like pregnant, or what she would look like 20 years from now after giving birth to a few kids and that's one of his deciding factor whether to continue dating her. And yup, he's still single at 40.

I think most guys do that to one extent or another. I've found that looking ather mother and father is a better guideline though. If her folks (in particular her mom) both look OK then she's very likely to look OK.

But saying this on a first date?

"Would you mind if I checked out your mother first?"

I don't think so.

Nope, I've never thought about anything like that! But I can understand why that guy is still single, rejecting good women because he thinks they might not be very attractive in 20 years.

Wow, G-N-M, you really are full of grace and mercy, lol. If a man I'm on a first date with told me that, It'd forget that I'm a Christian and show him no mercy at all, lol. And grace? What grace?

I've never asked this question before, but bearing in mind past experiences, on future first dates I would be brave and ask him: "So, are you married or otherwise engaged with someone else? Think carefully and answer truthfully, the future of the nation depends on your honest answer."

You'd think you wouldn't have to ask that question, but my friend met someone on an online dating service and come to find out, he was married!

Needless to say there was no second date.

I guess the best way to get around it is to play a little game. If you're in a restaurant, get a tissue, then write a multiple choice question and ask him to circle the one that applies to him. ie...
Are you
a single
b married
c engaged
d dating others
e gay
f none of the above

and see how he responds, lol. I've yet to try it, but I remember askign a guy out about 20 years ago, and Iwrote him a letter (he was a letter carrier) and I said something to the point of if he's not any of the above, I'd like to go out with him. ANd he accepted. I didn't put single as an option, lol.
