How have your spending habits changed compared to six months ago?

They haven't.

I don't typically buy a lot of stuff to begin with.

If I need something, I have no qualms about buying it . . . but it's got to be an actual need (versus want).

If I want something, I will swirl that around in my mind for quite a while trying to decide whether to buy it.

But then, I've always done that; not just recently.

edited: "always"- as in the several years.

The only change is I'm paying more for just about everything.

Yep that's about it.

That takes me back to April. The only thing I didn't spend more on was in June. I hardly bought any gas in June. Food - we bought more because the kids were home, but that equals out as now I'm buying school lunches.

Blessings,

Garsy

I now drive with the car lights OFF to save electricity.

We eat out a lot less, and I watch prices at the grocery store--I used to just buy whatever I felt like cooking for the week/day/whatever, now I look at prices and determine my menus based on what's on sale or what I have already in the frig/freezer/pantry. In the past, if I didn't feel like cooking, we ate out or I brought home take-out. We've also cut way back on what we spend for books--more trips to the library, or going to a store where we can sit and skim the book before buying--I put 99% of them back on the shelf. Same with magazines-we read them at the bookstore or at the library.

I wait to run to town until I need at least three things in that area. Save's on gas. No more driveing around just for "the drive"
Cut way back on groceries, and buy only what we need to make meals.
I stay away from the department stores now. If we don't have it..we don't need it. Just had to school shop for the son, and that was intresting. Had to go twice, because I could'ent afford it all in one week.
Gone are the Friday Night Fishfries. We eat at home now!
We don't use the CA as much as we used to. It has to be pretty hot and humid before we turn it on.
Also with the chilly mornings now, we use the fireplace to get the chill out of the house vs turning on the heat.
We don't leave lights on inside, if they are not needed.
No family vaccation this year. Not even a camping trip up north, because of the gas.
We are feeling the big crunch around our house big time!

I didn't know spending was a "habit"....

There must be a 12 step program for that.

Actually it's more like one step. It's called "Get Fired".

I was introduced to another one, it's called "Getting Laid Off."

Hmmm, I am in the same spending program! Laid off 2 times in one year!

Compared to 6 months ago...March...

We're spending much less on gas. With Brian working, it was about $150/week. Now, it's about $50-75, more if he has a lot of doctor's appointments.

We're not buying cigarettes anymore. He successfully quit with the John Deere quit plan...will be 8 weeks tomorrow, and we've saved $30/week, so $240 saved already! WOOHOO!!!

We're not running the heat yet and also no fans, so saving on electricity and heating oil and wood this month, as compared to March.

I am saving water by drinking whiskey neat.

That one's a little too hard on the body for me. I chose to go cold turkey and deal with the nerves, it hurts less.

I've often wondered why anybody would ruin a good whiskey by diluting it.

I tried to convince him of that, but he would only listen to God.[;)]

I am watching how I spend money much more now. Not ordering out nearly as much and trying to stretch my dollars further also.
