Have you used the history books by H.A. Guerber that we edited by Christine Miller? Here is a link.

Have you used these books?
Did your children like them?
How old were your children?

This Guerber?

I haven't used them but I like this link because it has a lot of children's lit and history in the public domain.

Yes. That is the same Guerber. The link you have is of the originals. There is a woman that has taken the books and re-done them to make them readable for today. I'm thinking of purchasing one and reading to the kids and see if they like it, then getting more if it's good.

I understood. I just wasn't sure HA was Harriet A.

We do stuff like that as read-alouds and I just change the vocabulary a little as we go. Grueber is a comparatively modern writer. She just uses 3 syllable adjectives sometimes. [:D]

I can understand that that won't fly for straight elementary reading (unless you're into vocabulary notebooks and a lot of supervision and support).

I wish you the best.

Thanks, Tamara. I'll have to look into it further.

I wonder if you could get a copy from your library and check it out first, you never know if they might have it.[:)]

That's a good idea.

I checked our library system. They don't have any.
