I was reading Does a man's job make a difference? and saw this mentioned. Is all bad grooming a turn off for women or just certain types of hygeine instead?

Do you have any specific examples you'd like to discuss?
There is a difference between grooming and hygiene.

Unless a woman is turned on the the "I just came out of the brush been hunting all day skin my catch please" look, I think the way a man presents himself is important. Atleast make sure the clothes are clean and fit, etc.

Well, I don't think a guy has to get regular manicures to look attractive, but I'm pretty blunt about it when my husband has bad breath or body odor. That is not attractive.

It is important to me to look clean and healthy, and to smell pleasant. So, I'm not attracted to people who aren't doing the same.
He may not have the most "stylish" haircut or clothing - but if he is taking care of himself and at least thinking about what he wears, that's more what I'm looking for.
Don't really want the opposite end of the spectrum either - where he spends more time in front of the mirror than I do, or spends a small fortune on hair and hair products.

Thank you all for your replies. I did not realize that there was a difference between bad grooming and hygene. Bad hygene being not clean, smelly, unbrushed teeth? Grooming is in a different catagory? Is bad grooming a bother too?

Hygiene is a cleanliness issue, which is a must, IMO. Grooming is a style issue, so not everyone will have the same opinion in this matter. For me, I really don't find attractive men that are caught up in some 80s time warped...you know...the mullet haircut, or longer hair than mine, with tight jeans and earrings, wearing Iron Maiden shirt with cowboy boots, lol.
I like simple men that are not trying too hard but still current in their style. I'm like that. I don't spend too much time in my appearance (unless you see working out as too much time). I shower, put on jeans and a top, make up, I'm ready to go. Just about the only thing that takes time is deciding which shoes to wear, lol.

I consider grooming to be things like whether someone combs his hair, keeps his nails neatly trimmed, keeps his clothes in good repair . . . things along those lines.

The untrimmed bush man beard, or stubble from not shaving regularly. Teeth looking bad. Crumbs on his shirt.
stained, wrinkled clothing. Mis matched clothing. Not dressing properly for an occasion. baseball caps worn indoors. YUK!

I would consider the majority of what Blue listed as poor grooming.
Perhaps the last three things could be a combination of "not knowing", bad taste and/or perhaps apathy. If apathy is part of the equation, that makes it even worse.

I'd like to see more men keep up with trends and update their looks once in awhile. I know so many (and I've read so many posts here) from men who are "manly men" and they don't want to be associated with anything metrosexual or gay  (which is completely stupid) and so they're wearing the same styles they were wearing when they got out of college. Sadly, for many of them that was 15-30 years ago.
In college, or at least during high school and college ages, you more likely than not dressed like your peers. Which means your look was more than likely fashionable for the time. Men tend to stay in that time period throughout their 20s, 30s and sometimes, yuckily, their 40s and beyond.
They complain that men get married and their wives want to "fix them up." Actually, your wife has probably decided that you don't know how to dress yourself according to what's available this decade and she is helping you update your look.
Hygiene is about making sure you shower, use deodorant, brush your teeth, etc. All of this has to do with grooming. If you have had the same hairstyle more than 10 years, maybe five, then you need to update. If you are wearing the same clothes you were wearing 10 years ago, you need to update. You will feel better about yourself, people will approach you differently, women will definitely look at you differently, I promise you.

My wardrobe is regularly updated as my old clothes regularly get worn out in the washer and dryer. My existing apparel is 2-4 years old. My haircut is reasonably current, not the top style but looks acceptable.

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days . . .
. . . I don't particularly care if someone is "stylish" or not, well to a degree . . . simultaneously wearing plaids and stripes should never be part of anyone's style. 
Does a man clothes fit (neither too small nor too large)? Are they clean? Stain-free? Wrinkle-free?
Is a man's hair and facial hair clean? Neatly cut (regardless of whether the length is short or long)? Nicely combed?
Is a man's body clean?
And even with the above, there are always exceptions. For instance, unless someone is working in an office, chances are that during working hours they're not going to be that neatly groomed.
For me, it's situational-specific.
Incidentally, the only man I have ever truly loved and have been in love with wore colored
t-shirts almost every day in the summer (the kind of t-shirts that have scenes painted on them). Unless he was getting dressed up for a specific reason, he wore colored t-shirts almost everywhere he went. And he kept them in very good condition.
However, I am not a t-shirt fan for neither men nor women; I personally only wear them when I'm doing messy chores.
That man I mentioned above . . . he's my late husband. I am so very glad that I did not let my opinion of t-shirts get in the way of my relationship with him. My relationship with him far outweighed the t-shirts.

I havent read that yet..well a bad grooming to me is the extremes of pigness, lack of care and etc as also the excess of grooming and preocupation as perfectionism.
Men to me that are pleasant do smell plain soap and hints of leather, wood, nature stuff as natural trans piration not offensive, as part of men's grooming are outdoor activities, sports and good nutricional habits. I think some people may have natural strong odor more than others as some life styles can bring strong smell also..well, I sure hold my breath when offensive smells etc is around particularly when there is soap, water, toothpaste, brush etc now if there is none and etc everybody is holding their breaths or not even notice how everybody around are smelling.
After soap and water the best next grooming aparatus are the shavers! Bald head and face are beautiful!

I can't say I totally agree with Stellaluna. I wear clothing similar (but not exactly) to what I wore in college. Honestly, I'm not all that interested in wearing the '80s retro that's out right now and I don't expect men to 'update' constantly either.
If it's worn or stained get new stuff. You'll naturally 'update' the most classic stuff as you go along. An older style is not wrong, it's the wear and tear that can go with that. And I say keep the bellbottoms, Motley Crue t-shirt or the Doc Martens. Everything comes back eventually anyway. Wear what makes you happy.
I had a 60 year old professor who claimed that 1/3 of his wardrobe was from the '60s and '70s and I have to admit--he looked good. He didn't keep everything. What he did have was classic, neat, and well cared for. He didn't look dated. He looked confident and stylish (even in the early '90s before all that stuff came back).
