Rebeka,

I have enjoyed reading through your PFY thread (I didn't know you had one until today). What you have shared about your life in this thread is truly a testimony of God's life in you. Thank's so much for sharing it all with us.

Oh, and BTW the is a tie fighter from Star Wars. It was the fighter used by the evil empire. I don't think I would have ever endeavored to try and use very smiley in a single post!

Mike,

1. Do you live in an apartment?
2. Would you like some (inexpensive) suggestions as to how to jazz it up? If not, fine, but I have a lot of good ideas, but if you're not interested, I don't wanna shove ideas down your throat.

Hi Rebekah, thanks for the offer, however truth be told I am just too disorganized to really decorate my apartment right now.

Hi folks....

For devotions, do you like to JUST read your Bible, or do you like to utilize devotional books as well?

I read my Utmost for his Highest for a while, and for the last couple years I've been reading streams in the dessert. However, whatever little verse is at the top of the devotional, I turn to the chapter and read the whole section, and then I always have a place in the OT and in the NT that I am reading through, separate from my devotional book-right now it's Psalms and Acts, and at my parents' request, I am working on memorizing Phillipians 2. I think, though, that it's time to retire from Streams in the Desert. I just started a book called "Of the Imitation of Christ," that I am really enjoying...it's written in the 15th century by Thomas A. Kempis.

Oh, Hi Cindy!! Sweet, hard working Cindy!!! Do you have a PFY thread, Cindy? I'm trying to do better at visiting other peoples.'

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

We'll be at friends, and I wasn't asked to make a dish, but I'm cross-stitching name tags...a leaf on the left and the name on the right, and 2 years ago I glued letter beads to miniature baskets, and put sticks tied in ribbon in each basket.

At least, my family will be at the friends' house..I've been sick all week, and may not make it, and the friends' 22 yo son invited 2 friends of his which are a married couple with a newborn, so I'm thinking even if I feel better, I don't want to expose a newborn to any germs.

Your welcome, and no, I have never set up a PFY thread; however, I do hang around in the Lion's den quite often.

And to answer your question about devotions, I typically read only the bible. However, I will often grab my study aids even in my devotions when I find something interesting and what to know more.

This year I've just been reading through the Bible, but usually I'll study a book using commentaries and other study aides. Due to my background in astology, I tend to read devotionals like I used to read horoscopes (sort of like "God's Word for the Day"), so I avoid them.

Ugh, sometimes I feel like I'm never going to finish this room organizing project...I've been at it for 2 years. I have gotten rid of SO MUCH STUFF along the way, and yet, today, I figured out a few more things to get rid of. I finally decided to give away the 7 remaining stuffed animals to a low income family in our church..hard to do-I mean, blessing the kids isn't hard, parting with the animals is hard...

I also have a tin collection, and I already gave away all the Christmas tins to a guy who gives taffy for Christmas every year...but I am also going to give away two tins (red plaid) to a friend who loves Scottish plaid..I'm taking hats and a hatbox to the salvation army..

Over the years, I had collected a lot of American Girl doll stuff, and one niece already has one of the dolls-the one that most closely matches her name and coloring-so I gathered every last thing I still had for that doll, and put in in a bag for her-I also found a (very clean) video related to one of her main interests, so I'll be giving her that. The other niece named Samantha, and born on November 1 of this month will be getting Samantha, so I have Samantha and everything that goes with Samantha in a box ready to mail...I won't mail it yet, because I'll be putting her mommy and daddy's Christmas present (which will be gingerbread cookies I make and some nuts) in the same box--anything that didn't go with one of those two dolls will go to other little girls. Then I dust busted out the chest that the doll stuff was in, and I'm going to put (and add as time goes by) kids prizes in it in case I ever do daycare/preschool work again or even for when kids are just here.

I also thought I had all the shelves I needed but in order to keep the last of the tins and display them, I'll need 3 more shelves (2 bigger, one smaller)..I might also try and get a free standing floor shelf for children's books..right now they're in my closet..the rest of my books are in a bookshelf under my window, and in the two shelves in the bathroom closet, and my Bible/Christian books are in an old fashioned pie warmer which I use as a bedside table.

I just really would like this whole project to be over and done with, so I can move one to some other things, and I keep praying for God to help me get it done soon!

Thanks!

There's a mouse in the house and it isn't Mickey...x2...

The other day, I opened our trash compactor, and a mouse jumped out! yech...my dad set a mousetrap and caught it...then today the same thing happened..I freaked out! My dad said, "Oh, don't be so dramatic." But it was rather startling. He set another trap. I kind of feel sorry for mice..what a horrid way to live always trying to avoid death, and having people freaked out by you...after all it wasn't THEIR choice to be a mouse and not a swan..nevertheless, they DO carry bad diseases, so I can't make pets out of them...nor do I want to make pets out of uninvited intruders.

I woke up really early, and the mouse is caught. I'm still not touching that thing, though, my dad can do that. I did look at it's little face, and it was so cute, and the eyes looked so sad, like the look left that he (she) knew he (she) was dying..it almost tore me up...but then again I don't like mice flying out of the garbage at me, either.

Nope, I'm home, not feeling well. Thanks for the well wishes, though.

I am so sorry to hear that. I do hope you do have the chance to relax a little and take care of yourself today. Did your sister stay home with you today?

Thank you. I have had some rest time..yes, my sister stayed home with me, but between service and going back out for dinner, dad came home and put her in her bed, after I had given her a bath, so I can feed in her bed, and not do lifting. My sister and bro-in-law are sick, so my parents will have Thanksgiving with grandchildren, but no children.

I'm sorry you're feeling crummy. It's going around.

No, I don't have a PFY thread. I don't think I'd be very good at keeping up with it.

I'm working today, so we will celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow. The only problem with that is that there's something really wrong with not having the Macy parade playing on the tv while I cook the turkey.

Thanks..this bug is even on that side of the country? Wow...

I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving tomorrow. I'm sorry you're sad about missing the parade. Maybe you can find replays on the 'net. I pray you have a nice day tomorrow, and I also pray your husband gets it laid on his heart to help out....both tomorrow and continually.

This bug is everywhere.

My oldest daughter has been commanding the troops in getting the house clean today. The girl is something of a drill sargeant. I can't imagine where she gets that from.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. My eldest son has been a bit sick the last day or two. Not bad, but enough to slow him down a little. I had something that began about a week ago, but other than being a little more tired than normal, I am over it.

I am dealing with a couple of mice right now too and need to get rid of them, but I do not want to kill them either. They seem to frighten very easily too!
