We are putting a time Capsule in the walls of our new home--we have pictures of the burned out home and other items--what would you put in a time capsule??[8|]

Memaw. -> RE: Time Capsule (8/25/2008 7:51:30 PM)

Family pictures
Newspaper
A letter from each family member to the "future" them.

A postcard or two of the way your city or town looks now.
Write on a piece of paper the price of milk, bread and a gallon of gas.
Perhaps your genealogy as far as you know it.
Write a list of the plants that you grow in your garden. If someone finds it a hundred years from now, wouldn't it be wild to know that , by golly yes, this is the same cherry tree that she was talking about!

I would take pictures of the house as it is now, inside and out and place those in the capsule.

A current newspaper, a favorite book, a favorite cd.

A Twinkie still in the package.

Charity - what are you using for the capsule? Just curious - I may do this in the future.

A stamp
Everyday items, like a lightbulb or a toothbrush or some modern jewelry
How about a music CD or technical gadget
I agree with the newspaper and magazine suggestions
Find a list of "what's popular" in fashion or politics or your church -- how about a monthly newsletter?

How long are you planning on keeping the items inside? If it's inside a wall, do you ever plan on retrieving them yourselves?

We are using a tall thin tin box we have--so far I put newspapers, ads from the papers, family pictures, pictures of the burned out house, grand kid pictures, a few things that we salvaged from the burn out, the fire report, and a piece of the yellow do not cross tape--today I will buy a twinkie--I always said that 100 years from now we will find twinkies and wonderbread in tact in the land fill!![:D]

charity7 -> RE: Time Capsule (8/29/2008 12:16:55 PM)

They will be left there until someone in years to come finds them

Memaw. -> RE: Time Capsule (8/31/2008 12:03:44 AM)

How about a dollar bill, quarter, dime, nickel and penny?
