So, I didn't want to hijack the other thread ... but apparently we all grew up with different versions of goober. One of my friends always calls me a goober when I'm being kinda goofy or having a "AmanDUH" moment. I always thought they were peanuts ... But now I've heard guys and peas ... What does goober bring to mind for you?

That's what I think of too. Usage: "Whatever. You are SUCH a goober." A goober is someone who is clueless. But I haven't heard the term used in many years.

a goober is a silly person. The line we always used in my house though is that "goober" was the male form and "raisonette" was the female form. (You know, from the candies, Goobers and Raisonettes) So in the other thread I was kind of joking with you.

I personally like raisonette better - I don't like peanuts very much. I only like peanut butter, but it tends to trigger migraines.

I thought that was a booger? Well a goober is known as 2 different things in my family. Goober- being a silly person. goober- being a nickname for a little boys anatomy.

Wow, I never knew it was such a versatile word. I Wikipediaed it, kinda scary. Goober Pyle apparently also appeared on the Andy Griffith show, and his last name started out Beasley.

The only use I'd ever heard for "goober" was as a regional word for peanuts.

I've always called this co-worker/work out buddy of mine a goober and she always laughs about it. Honestly, I don't know what it means other than goofy, or silly. People always calls me that (when I'm goofing around). And yeah, I always call my cat a goober too and he doesn't seem to mind.

Goober = 1). Peanut 2). A goofy, clueless person 3). Gomer's cousin Here's a sad story about how twisted our society is... My pastor back in the 90s, who is like a 2nd father to me, was originally from around the Macon, GA area, and had pastored in Savannah for many years. One day from the pulpit he was musing about a recent youth event he'd attended and was telling the story about some silly thing one of the boys did. In his typical deep south way, he referred to Clint as a "goober." Believe it or not, he was called on the carpet by the deacon board, stating how inappropriate it was to call someone a goober from the pulipt, as it insinuated that it was...well, you put the pieces together... I was absolutely shocked that our deacons were that twisted. Of course, it shouldn't have surprised me because this same group of deacons also accused him of being seen in a car with a curly headed woman that was not his wife. That "woman" turned out to be our youth pastor.

Well, he finally had enough of the ongoing nonsense like that and left after 6 years. Total power trip in that church.
