Good strong voice. The only thing I'd say is that you train by listening to and singing different styles. Challenge yourself with different things and don't get comfortable.
You're good enough that it would be easy just to do what you know you are good at, ending up in a "rut."

Nice voice. Not really my style of music, so I'd have to agree with Hayseed. What other styles can you do? Personally, I really relate to songs with a bit of grit or anngst, although most worship stuff today is pretty vanilla, if that makes any sence.

It's kind of tough to tell from the video, but I'd worry about your breath control. I get the impression you're mimicking what you hear on the radio w/o having a handle on the techniques needed to not only achieve that "sound" but to do it well and to be able to do it repeatedly. I say this because your voice seems strong enough in the middle of your range (but so does everybody's), but it drops off quite a bit outside of that, particularly on the descending passages. I'd expect that were you faced with challenging material or put into some sort of real production environment (on tour, recording an album), that you'd wear yourself out pretty quickly. Good breathing techniques will help you maintain and control your intensity across a much wider range and longer period of time.
You've got a good tone; find a good voice teacher who can help you develop what you've got.

Thanks for the advice
but iluvater i can't get a teacher. i've been asking for years but we don't have the money. we're not poor, but we don't have a lot! and i'm only 14 so i can't get a job for 2 more years.
but i am in chorus and i'm in musicals and that's tought me a lot!!!

Not to really push the issue, but there are ways to make money when you're 14. Babysitting, yard work, paper routes, etc. Honestly, learning to be industrious and how to hustle your way into a gig will help you more in life than you'd imagine (particularly if you want to get into the music biz). It all depends on how much you want it and what you're willing to do to get it.

not with my parents i'm not allowed to do any of that stuff, i can't baby sit, yard work or anything. plus i think i'm gonna be fine without it!!
i'm starting high school this year and i'll be in chorus, which will teach me a lot. and i'm also going to the fine arts center for voice.

Singergirl, what do you plan on doing in your future with your voice? Are you going to make a career of music or are you satisfied with it as a hobby and singing in churches and choruses?
Your answer to those questions will determine what you need to do.
Right now, you're a good singer for church and stuff like that, but you need to have a broad range and comfort of different musical styles if you want to go beyond that.
It's the same thing for any musician.

I'm planning on making a career out of it and going professional!!!
and i do have a broad range of styles.... i can sing country, jazz, soft rock, gospel, even a little hip hop.
i like to sing songs from wide ranges of singers such as taylor swift, avril lavigne, michelle branch, britt nicole, paramore, mariah carey.

Here's some names of some singers that will stretch you:
Billie Holliday
Janis Joplin (not a fan of the genre, but she had some pipes!)
Patsy Cline
Career-oriented means that you'll have to be a little creative to come up with "your sound" and not copy others. Of course, there's a whole music industry founded on clones, but the artists usually are just fads that come and go.
Become someone that ain't easily replaceable.

You don't have to watch Idol very long to see what happens when someone who is not very good gets told by their loved ones all their life that they are the next singing megastar. Independent, objective judgement of ones art is hard to take, but worth it if you take as constructive criticism and do what's necessary to improve.

You're fine, but you need training and guidance if you want to make a career out of this. For whatever reason, most people see singing as being different from most other skills and abilities. Many people, if they want to learn how to play the guitar or the drums, they'll go find a teacher. If they want to learn how to be a doctor or an engineer, they'll go to college. But if they want to be a singer, they sing along with the radio and expect that to develop their in-born abilities. That's kind of like me trying to learn brain surgery by watching the Discovery Health channel. 
IMO, doing it yourself works better for males who front rock bands and have a particular style to their voice that's unique and complementary to the music their band plays - I'm sure that Axl Rose, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, and Chris Cornell have all had a few voice lessons here and there, but by and large, their voices are much more stylized than they are "professional." For whatever reason, I think it's harder and less common for women to pull this off. I imagine a "traditionally trained" female singer having a wider variety options available to her than one without that training.
Without working with you every day in person, there's not really much we can tell you, other than wishing you good luck.

Totally agree with Iluatar.
I'll add too, that a lot of the success people have with their natural voice depends on whether they're the songwriter or not of the music.
If you write your own stuff you naturally tailor it to and use the best of "your style."

I think you have a nice voice. I think you too willing to accept limitations set in front of you (can't get a teacher, etc.). I'm not sure you realize how steep the mountain is you are about to climb. When folks give you sound advise, just immediately saying "naw, I can't do that" is probably not the best idea.
I thought the advise about singers to emulate was really good. I'd just add Ann Wilson.

i also play the piano and guitar.
and i have to disagree i think yes you do have to work at having a good voice. but i don't think you have to have a teacher to tell you. the teacher doesn't know the limitations and the deaps of my voice only i do. thus in saying that the best teacher in the world is yourself!
i believe a true artist goes at it alone, and finds who they are inside and makes it apart of their music. that's what makes it special. when an artist has found that no teacher, guide, or person can change that.

That's a load of nonsense and a good way to wind up playing dive bars for no money wondering why you can't make a living making music. The problem with that logic is that we're often not objective critics of ourselves - either because we don't have the experience and expertise to properly critique the material/performance or because we see ourselves through rose-colored glasses. Even wildly successful bands work with producers who not only manage the logistics of making a record, but also offer creative guidance and direction to the band. Lots of world class artists and athletes have coaches to provide objective criticism to help them improve their performance. Would Nastia Liukin have been standing atop the podium w/o the years of instruction from her coach/father? Do you think Michael Phelps would have 14 gold medals if he ignored his coaches advice? Would the Beatles have been as revolutionary w/o George Martin? Every great artist has had somebody to learn from.

Yeah, pretty much what he said. I mean, if you're Patsy Cline or someting then maybe you've got what it takes to make it all on your own. Otherwise, the whole thing is a nice fantasy that may lead to a nice lifelong hobby of singing. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not the same thing as making a living as a working musician.

Singergirl, I know you're young and I was too at one time and there are a lot of hard knocks out there. Especially in the entertainment industry. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt.
One thing an artist finds out when they enter the business is that there's nothing special about them. When you go to Hollywood or Nashville, you'll find that there are thousands of people just like you, trying to do the same thing. This is why you need to study and broaden yourself because you have to be flexible and you have to have that "something" that someone needs or that you are diverse enough to be able to do different things.
Most people don't "make it big." If you want a career in music and actually make a living you'll have to do things like take sit-in gigs, studio gigs and probably give lessons to cobble a living together. But those things take an educated musician that's studied and "put in their time."
I'll bet you dollars to donuts that if you go out there thinking what you're thinking now, you'll be sorely disappointed.
Make every opportunity (and I do mean "MAKE" because 90% of the time opportunity DOESN'T come to a person) to get an advantage and broaden yourself.
Then again, if you don't want to listen to some of us who are in the entertainment industry. Why even start the thread?

I think part of what makes it hard for a young person with some talent is the whole "big fish/small pond" thing. Most folks are so terrible at singing that if you have good pitch and decent tone you seem like some kind of a superstar. Everyone's saying how awesome you are and it sounds true, judging by how everybody else sings. It's very hard to get a guage on it all.

Thanks but NO thanks. like i said going at it alone is the best way to go!! and if i do reach my goal i'll feel a whole lot better about my self.
yall people are just too ignorate to see that true music lies inside a person. no coach, trainer or teacher, can help you find that.
take my grandfather for instant. he's been playing guitar since he was 7 years old. never had any lessons. he's AMAZING. he's traveled all over the united states, playing music. he's even played with the easter brothers. if he can do it. so can i!!!
