My two children (19 and 15) are away this week at a 5 day Christian festival called Soul Survivor, in Shepton Mallet in Somerset (about 2 hours away from here). For those of you who have heard of the singer/songwriter Matt Redman, the Soul Survivor Festival came from the church led by Mike Pilavachi, Matt Redman's pastor. It's been going for 16 years. It's predominantly for young people, sort of 13+.

We go to a small charismatic church where there are fewer than 40 in the youth group. A group of 50 has gone to Soul Survivor, about 10 of them being non-Christian friends of youth group members. They're camping in the Somerset countryside, along with over 10,000 young people. It's amazing for them to be with so many other young people, most of whom are Christians.

My son texted me last night to say tha after the first "main event" last night, where they had worship and a talk called "Admitting, Submitting and Transmitting" (how cool is that? lol), 2 of the non-Christian lads (aged 16) of their group gave their lives to Christ. And that's just on the first day!

Do any of your teens go to events like this? Did you go to events like this when you were a teen?

EDIT: make that 3 young people gave their lives to Christ last night!! My dd just phoned me to let me know that her friend (aged 16) became a Christian last night (my dd went forward with her to give her support).

That sounds wonderful, Manda. I don't know of anything like that here.

Wow, I am surprised!

Tonight, one of the lads who gave his life to Christ the previous had his back healed. Things are definitely happening!!

I love it when the Lord heals people. It really builds people's faith and makes them feel cared about by our Heavenly Father.

Your kids sound wonderful, Manda. Stories like this give me hope that my FIL is totally wrong about teenagers. I never went to these types of youth events, and dH did, but he spent a lot of his time chatting up girls! [&:]

Wow, Manda!

I wish we had something like that here!

Actually, our church does an outreach every winter for the youth of the area. Usually a couple hundred youth come. It is so awesome to see youth on fire for Christ!

I'll be praising God tonight for those kids' decisions and praying that God strengthens your kids in their walk as well!

Blessings!
