Covaan_Meshuga -> Things that don't work (8/10/2008 3:50:11 AM)

Anyone know why "list" won't work? Or is it just that what I see is faulty? The following is my attempt at a list:

  • First item
  • Second item
  • Third item

Here is my attempt to do an ordered list:

  1. First item
  2. Second item
  3. Third item

Now, what do you see?

All I see in both cases is this:
First item
Second item
Third item

Ps103 -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 12:59:05 PM)

Abi, in the first example I see a bulleted list, and in the second I see a list with numbers preceeding the items.

It appears that it *is* working, but you aren't seeing it on your screen.

ta_mosquito -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 1:02:14 PM)

Yep, I'm with Kate. The first list is bulleted, the second is numbered.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 1:10:30 PM)

Wow! That is interesting! I only see lists! So, at least, they work for others. That is good to know.

Thank you!

zoebob -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 4:06:10 PM)

yeah, I see it bulleted and numbered.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 5:45:35 PM)

Could it be your browser Abiyah? Which kind and version are you using?

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 10:02:07 PM)

I am completely computer-illiterate. Are you talking about the fact that I use (whutsit called . . . ) Windows XP?

humbleinspirit -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 10:06:15 PM)

More like the program that you use when you want to go to the internet instead.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 10:16:00 PM)

MSN?

humbleinspirit -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 10:41:36 PM)

It would likely be Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 11:40:47 PM)

I see "Internet Explorer" and "MSN Explorer."

humbleinspirit -> RE: Things that don't work (8/10/2008 11:48:10 PM)

I guess you would not know which version of Internet Explorer that you are using at all? Up on your toolbar above where it says help. a pop down menu will appear, go to where it says "about internet explorer." There is should say which version that you are using. Now that is if you are using Internet Explorer that is.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/11/2008 12:15:12 AM)

Mine doesn't say "about Internet Explorer"; it says "About MSN." <shrugs>

Hi Abiyah, just getting back to this post now, sorry that I have taken so long! Anyway, it sounds like you are using a different browser than the normal Internet Explorer, which could be causing the problem. How old is your computer? It could be that you need the latest version in order for it to read today HTML code instead.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/14/2008 8:29:11 PM)

Oh, wow! I am at work, and it looks just like it does at home! And while I requested the computer have the same systems, so I could work in the office or at home, we have different Internet servers!

Okay! Okay! So I'm still at work! My husband is out of town, so there's no reason to go home! Besides, I have goat cheese and oatmeal bread here!

Oh -- and here at work, I have Windows Internet Explorer 7.

Ok, sounds like it could be either a system setting or a glitch then. If you want, I can walk you through either redownloading Internet Explorer or Firefox later on this evening. I am at work right now so I would not be able to do it right now.

Another option is to ask this same question in Computers and Technology (or have this thread moved there) instead.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/16/2008 8:47:01 AM)

Humble, I am one of those who is completely computer-illiterate, and walking me through a process will likely frustrate you and get me in trouble with my computer. I am a mere end-user. And barely that!

Thank you, though! I am simply too unsure of myself.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Things that don't work (8/16/2008 11:32:50 AM)

What if I supplied a link to simply redownload Internet Explorer, or better yet, how about trying Firefox for a test run and see if you like it and see if that solves the problem instead?

I can definitely agree...FF is much better then IE...if you want to try to download that is

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/16/2008 7:38:20 PM)

I am so serious, Humble. I would ruin a computer just by looking at it wrong. I use them, I enjoy them, but I don't mess with anything. I do have Foxfire on the one at work, but I have not even so much as opened it. I have no idea what it will do or what it will do TO the computer there.

I know, I know. I'm a fraidy cat.

Meow.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Things that don't work (8/16/2008 10:06:16 PM)

Ok then, better to play it safe than sorry (with computers.) If you can, get someone who you know that does know about computers to take a look at it for you.

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Things that don't work (8/17/2008 9:21:10 AM)

I guess it's odd, but not that important. Maybe I will have my son look at it.
