I am a big Ole Miss fan here Also a huge LSU fan A little LSU trivia…..On the Saturdays starting last fall when our grandbaby Mr. Sawyer has been on my lap or playing in the floor with me (us) watching LSU. LSU has yet to be beaten. Sorry diehard fans but there has been a few times we took him to an Ole Miss game and hence were unable to watch LSU play. Anyone going to the EGG Bowl out there Have a blessed day dave

Boy! Am I happy! I was absolutely ecstatic over what happened last night in Morgantown . . . WVU 34 and Auburn 17!! The Mountaineers played goofy for the 1st Quarter and part of the 2nd, then got their collective keisters in gear and absolutely dominated for the remainder of the game. The Tigers were up 17-3 in the second quarter, then scored 31 unanswered points to close out the game. I was concerned after Pat White threw his 2nd INT, but the defense rose up and totally shut down Auburn's offense. This was a big win for the Mounties, because they needed to prove to the rest of the country, let alone the state of WV, that they are a good football team. Robert Smith of ESPN said that the Tigers would win because the Def. Co-ordinator for Auburn was at Pitt last year, and he helped to engineer their upset in the last game of the season by shutting down the offense to the tune of less than 175 yds TO. But what he was either forgetting or ignoring was that same Pitt defense (coached by the same guy) had been torched for 55, 45, and 45 points the previous 3 years. So much for the "expert analysis." Way to go, Mountaineers!!! Duane

Another Tuff weekend for my teams. The Horns must play the Okl. St. Cowboys with every bit as much enrgy and enthusiasm as they did the Sooners and Mizzou or it will be ugly. They can't look past them to Tech either. I believe Colt McCoy will lead them to victory once again! HOOK'EM! The Tide must play 2nd half football against King of Rocky Top or the Vols defense will give their offense the game. Saban can't be happy with the past few games of 0 scoring in the second half. So I know they will prevail over Fulmer and his Vols. Roll Tide Roll!

Tide overwhelms once-mighty Tennessee. Look for a change at head coach after the season, especially if the Evil Genius (Spurrier) wins another from the Big Orange.

Gators still looking good against Kentucky! Blocked punts on Kentucky's first two possessions. with touchdowns following on the next play in each case, got things off to a good start for the Gators, but the Wildcats #1 ranked defense (SEC) didn't prove itself so. I just hope the momentum continues for next week when we go to Jacksonville and take on Georgia. That looks to be the game of the season for both Florida and Georgia, with lots to prove for either team. If we're successful there, maybe it'll be Gators and Crimson Tide in the conference playoff game. Go Gators!

Bama is rolling yet not getting respect. one day the country will come to understand SEC will always be the dominate conference in college ball. defense wins the games always. proof ask raiders tampa bay super bowl.

Bama is rolling yet not getting respect. Only a true fanatic could equate being ranked #2 in the country with not getting respect. In the absense of Big 12 vs SEC matchups we don't really know which conference is better. The Big 12 looks pretty good too with Texas (they are a legit #1 as Alabama would be), Texas Tech (perhaps Bama's ticket to a #1 ranking), Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Kansas. Thats quite a list of teams. Everyone knows the SEC list so no need to repeat that. They are the best two conferences this year no doubt. quote:
defense wins the games always. proof ask raiders tampa bay super bowl. You are using a Super Bowl from nearly six years ago to prove your point. Why not use the last Super Bowl? The Giants pressure on Tom Brady won it for them (along with Eli's heroics at the end). I think being able to do both well wins championships. All time great offenses and defenses coupled with a horrible defense or offense rarely wins anything. At some point you have to score and at some point you have to stop somebody. I will concede that all defense teams (like the 2000 Ravens) win championships once in a while but all offense teams never seem too.

lol. I was all state LB in high school so am partial to defense. Although am QB on flag FB Church team that is dominating our league. 21-1 record with 7 tourney victories so offense can do it. but alas, if you can't stop the other team with defense, you are doomed. because odds are they will have a decent offense. if they stop you then they will win no matter how you look at it. I would have used the Giants victory simply on grounds I can't stand even thinking of cheering for the PATsies. as for the college conf. that is toughest. Big 12 is the one with the big QB's. Daniel, McCoy, Bradford, and whichever one is lighting up the boards for Tech. SEC will always be known for speedy hard hitting stand up defense. I hope it is Bama and Texas in championship game. that will be a great game. although if TT comes through it will likely be a Bama -PS championship game. I honestly do not see a Sec team coming close to Bama this year. IF they have the 2cd half solved. Looks like Cody will be back before the Auburn game. little fun fact. Cody weighs in at 365 and dunks a BB. all I say is what person is gonna stand in lane and try to block that tank out and secondly, who is dumb enough to say he can't??

Let's not forget special teams in the winning mix. So far as saying offense or defense wins games, I think it may be hard to determine in a given game whether the defense was good or the offense was bad, or vice-versa. In the end, a well rounded team, with offense, defense, and special teams will come out with a good overall record.

I understand that in a case of a head coach firing, that the people underneath him have a very difficult time getting a job. We get all upset during a coaching firing when in reality the head coach is going to be just fine. It's everyone else that suffers the consequences. What have ya'll heard about this? kd

Let's not forget special teams in the winning mix. True but I don't agree that its a third of the winning formula. Its not equal to offense or defense. Ex Giants coach Jim Fassal tried to emphasize the importance of special teams by cutting his best special teams player when he made a mistake. To me it made the opposite point. He would have never released his starting QB at that time Kerry Collins if Collins made a mistake. Because offense and the QB position is too important. This one-third stuff is just coach / commentator speak that has little to do with observable reality. They say it because they have to convince people of the importance of special teams. No one needs to convince anyone of how important offense and defense is.

I will pull for Bama. Special teams are good part. solid in fact. case in point, Hester from Bears. he controls a tempo of a game with his returns much like Dante Hall did few years back with Chiefs. USC is the darling of the media. and Big 10 well also. sadly they look at television market not the talent

With the new BCS standings, if the national championship were played today it'd be Alabama vs. Texas Tech. Who'da thunk it at the beginning of the season?
