Chantelle913 -> What qualities are you looking for in your future husband/wife???/ (8/7/2008 5:05:36 PM)

If you are single, my question is what qualities are you looking for in that special someone ( wife or husband) ? What do you think you need to work on in yourself to be a good wife/ husband?

1. Now where did I put that list...... Ah well I'll find it later[:D]

2. I have 18 years of training to be a good husband. I just need someone to practice my husbanding skills on (If I was ever good at anything it was at being a husband)

So John you have been married before????

ShallbeRebuilt -> RE: What qualities are you looking for in your future husband/wife???/ (8/7/2008 8:30:20 PM)

As I began to sift through the matches on eHarmony, I realized that I did have a "list"...qualities that are non-negotiable in a potential husband. I was just telling GP3 and 4 tonight that while I don't have any intention of trying to remarry their dear departed dad, there were good reasons I married him, and those reasons haven't changed.

So a while back after John mentioned his list in another conversation, I began to ask myself if I had a list, and sifting through the eHarmony matches revealed that I did, indeed.

Here it is (in no particular order, btw):

Deeply passionate Christ follower
Taller than me (not difficult)
Vigorous
Confident
Educated
Good communicator
Funny
Knows his call from God
Responsible provider
Rich history with God (no pat, cliche' answers for life's problems--this guy's been through stuff)
Teachable: able to admit when he's wrong and change
Honest with himself and others
Open
Generous

That's the list so far. Is it too intimidating, guys?

shallbe

Lets see, I guess I have a bigger list of must not's than I have of have haves, however here is a simple list of a few:

Honest
A Gentle Spirit
Confident (not arrogant)
compassionate
silly/funny/joking around
Has a heart for the less fortunate.

Although I'm looking for many of the same things as shallbe.....

I guess the most important thing I am looking for is Godly leadership in a husband.

then................a great sense of humour would be wonderful....LOL. I love to laugh. But seriously I want a man who loves the Lord with all His heart, soul and mind..........and loves to laugh!

What I need to work on?? Well I am a work in progress!!

I look at finding the right mate, like putting together the most difficult puzzle you have ever seen. When you put together a puzzle you have to put a lot of pieces together before you find the one that fits. See, a lot of them look like good matches, but they just will not slide together. Sometimes you find a piece that doesn't look like it goes and it does. My point is that we all have voids that need filled, someone that gives us something that we did not even know that we were missing till we get it, we will not know what it looks like till we find it. And on the other hand the colours have to go together perfectly to make the whole picture. When I get there I will have a beautiful picture painted by the hand of God. (My box seems to have a lot of pieces.) Kimberly

I would like for him to be punctual and arrive right on time. [:)]

humbleinspirit -> RE: What qualities are you looking for in your future husband/wife???/ (8/7/2008 11:31:28 PM)

Now that is important for me too!

gaylel1 -> RE: What qualities are you looking for in your future husband/wife???/ (8/8/2008 12:51:09 AM)

Well, the first quality you are looking for in your future mate is someone is walking the walk and no lip service. There are people who claim they are Christian but guess what? they are not in a community of faith or under a pastor and is accountable, which is very, very important.

The other stuff should be secondary.

That's a great list, shallbe! In fact, it's so good I'm going to "borrow" it and tweak:

Passionate Christ follower
Confident
Educated
Good communicator
Knows her call from God
Teachable: able to admit when she's wrong and change
Honest with herself and others
Open
Generous

Is a good start I think.

sunshinesoprano -> RE: What qualities are you looking for in your future husband/wife???/ (8/8/2008 10:32:10 AM)

I think my list would be:

Totally in love with God.
Honest
Flexible, open-minded
Willing to be a part of my ministry or to not begrudge it.
Able to look past my physical flaws to see the gift inside, and those of others.
Living like a child of God
Takes care of himself
Generous with time and money.

perhaps a one-stop list thread is in order ... of course crosswalk isn't only a dating site ...

Yeah, I've thought about that, too. Or maybe we could just pin a thread to the top.

I am looking for a woman who is shorter than me!
OK, just kidding. My list looks something like:

Compassionate
Gentle
Humble
Easy Going

(Though I would like her to be shorter than me too![:)])
