quote:
It's just her opinion based on her lifes experience. You disagree because you've maybe you've always had reason to be proud of her country, but some people haven't. I agree, no more to add. BTW: I love America, look at my post history. But I can accept differing opinions. Its easy for me to be proud of America, I'm a white guy. Not believing America is not the greatest thing in the world is not in and of itself wrong or sinful. quote:
McCain made a similar statement when he got back from Vietnam - that he never felt patriotic until he was released from captivity and returned to the U.S.. First, this statement was from 30 years ago at least, Michelle's from last year at the most. So her statements are more current, that makes a difference. As far as McCain's statements go, I think he meant that he loved America more, that he took America for granted before he was away for so long. There are a number of people and things all of us could say that about. We might love our wife but if she leaves for a year we might love her all the more, to the point where we believe we didn't truly love her before. So I'm not seeing the equivalency, unless the idea is that we all make statements that can be misinterpreted. But I don't think Michelle's* statements (which don't upset me and I'm not putting her down for) are the same as or equal to McCain's statement. quote:
My goodness, I am as conservative as one can get. MO is not my favorite person, but, I will give this Obama family, they have only been married to one anothet, and seem to love their girls. I mean the things they are wrong on fine I agree, no respect for them in those issues, but, I find no fault with their parenting ( except chruch), but I think they seem to love, and nurture their children. I have to be fair, and honest about this one. Knowing you are not an Obama fan at all, I commend you on your fairness. * I use Michelle Obama's first name to differentiate her from Barack Obama. This isn't prejudice against the female gender.
