Indeed salvation is a free gift and the HolySpirit(for those who have accepted that gift by faith, DOES reside in the heart of a believer)and yes, the Holy Spirit ENABLES us to be more Christlike......BECAUSE of these truths I expect that people who have received this FREE gift would also have an attitude and exhibit the attributes of the God that lives within them(loving justice, being merciful, understanding, generous etc.).
Rather than COMPARING God's free gift with public education my point is that those of us who claim Christ should approach this and ANY issue with the heart of our Father. So I see, that you DID NOT understand my point. I hope you do now because, as it is straying off-topic I have nothing further to add.

I wonder what God thinks of public education that for the most part makes a mockery of God...

What's more loving than already paying taxes for a very good amount of money to be spent per student? Is it loving to give even more when it will not solve the core problem?

No, it would be naive and ignorant to do so.

For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back cry out against you. The cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.

Pr 3:27
Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it's in your power to help them.


These scriptures are from God and contain wisdom for everyday living and decision making. They direct me in how to be a "wise steward" of what he has blessed me with.

BTW I have with the money God has entrusted to me, either paid for or help to pay the tuition of children/adults who were "deserving" and "desiring" of an education. No one forced me to do this. It's something I felt God under the direction of scripture leads me to do as a Christian.

I find no scriptural support for the idea Christians are to ask non-believers to pay for their children's education.

I don't find scripture that says I am to pay for an education for people "just because" they are poor. Some are poor because they are in rebellion against God and to support that would make me a enabler in their rebellion.

No where in this list does it say being stupid or wasteful with the resources God has blessed us with is "having the heart of the Father". Checking your brains at the door does not go along with being Godly.

We cannot say we are acting like the Father when we take from one and give to another -

or worse yet -

take from others and give it to our own kids!!!!!!!

Anyone who does not support their own family is worse than a non-believer according to scripture.

earthless, I actually agree that money, or lack thereof, is not the core issue. But to discuss what I believe is at the core would be best suited for another thread.

P31, I searched the scriptures (and the interpretation) that you cited on my own and.....I'll keep this plane landed by saying, as long as each one of us is doing what WE believe to be in line with God's will...AMEN!!!

So then you disagree with Meeks, gotcha. If you want to create a thread to discuss the real problems (source) in certain communities, please do so and I will gladly participate.

I believe the problem is the same in all communities. It's sin. Some have gone deeper into it then others and it's shows itself louder because of it.

The Rev. Al Sharpton talks about the funding divide between Chicago Public Schools and those in affluent areas.

"It leads to unequal access to education," he said to the congregation at New Landmark MB Church.

Here's the stat we love:

* Those urging the boycott say for example, a Winnetka school receives about $17,000 for each student. A Chicago school gets about $10,000 for each child. Property taxes fund a large part of education – and taxes are higher in more affluent areas.

Maybe the extra $7,000 per kid comes from not having endless layers of bureaucracy, chronic waste and abysmal management that plagues the CPS.

We have the highest local and county taxes in the nation, yet three decades of throwing money at the schools has yielded substandard test scores, a fifty percent drop out rate, generations of hamburger flippers and a murder/violence rate that rivals entire nations on the European and African continents.

Interesting, if this is true then I should have pulled my kids out of their school and enrolled them in Winettka too!!!!!

The elementary school my kids attended spent $10,000 per kid. The state average is $8,3000. Hmmmmmm ... .
