It doesn't matter to me on this, I love the idea of all three.

Are we talking blankets here or throws?
I'm like Sarah, I have tons of blankets, but a Memaw can never have too many throws.

I feel thats its hard for me to decide, I was thinking that we will send a mug and blanket. I feel as though that its sooo hard for ppl to decide. 1 person recieves to many blankets because she has kids..... I have no kids, so i dont get blankets. If someone already collect mugs they might not wanna do mugs. As far as drinks it would be hard because of the customs. At 1st I thought she was saying send a mug with, your SS fav drink inside. I am not picky at all, just being able to particpate is good enough for me. But why try to send something that someone MIGHT not be able to get, which means its a waste of money. I would hate to send a drink and I get someone who dont live in the US and it gets thrown away....thats a waste of time and money. So I vote blankets overall......

You can send tea and coffee over the border between Canada and the US.

Did you know that you can send whole beaver carcasses through Canada Post, so long as they are packaged properly???
There's your "I didn't know that" moment of the day.

Back to the thread, I voted for drinks. I would love to be involved in this one, however cost is one issue for me. Sending packages over the border can become pricey, the last SS cost me more in shipping than I had intended. So for me, drinks would probably be better cost-wise. But that's just my vote

Can we not pick individually what we would like?

Make it a "winter" theme?

For instance, I would rather have a throw blanket, but (using you only as a for instance ) Sarah would rather have a mug so she sends me a throw and I send her a mug.

As someone else said, you can get a blanket or throw at dollar store or Wal-Mart for around 5 dollars and the post office has flat rate boxes to cram it in.

I think it would be neat to add a hot drink recipe to those wanting mugs and can't get tea or whatever through customs.

Ok, I'm rambling now, there's my 2 cents.

Memaw! That is a good idea...perhaps we could make it a winter theme and when filling out the usual survey, we could each put what we'd rather have/need...a blanket, mug, or drink...

Memaw is got a good idea ^_^

Also- mailing a blanket would not cost much espeically fleece its so light... you could get a priority box and send it for 4.80 prob or even less then that... if you used and evenlope (well one that could hold it lol)

I almost believe the blanket would def weigh less then a mug lol

I like the idea of autumn theme. That way, people could send mugs, or drinks or blankets or scarves or those sorts of things.

If it's an autumn theme, people would have a range of things to choose from, and they can pick from what would go through customs, for those who are international people.

What a useful piece of information I'll have to look up the proper way to package one now

I like the Autumn theme too! You could go anywhere with it ... totally venture away from the mug and blanket idea. I like the themed ones without being told WHAT to buy exactly.

I think too that something should be figured out about international shipping too. It is very expensive. Even just Canada to the US ... Canada has a really sucky postal system. Even within Canada it's more expensive than down here! My dad use to drive a 6 hour round trip to a US post office with a truck full of books to be mailed to Africa a couple times a month from a local publishing place. It was cheaper for them to pay the gas, postage and his time AND the difference in the money (and it use to be really bad back then!) than it was for them to pay shipping from Canada.

Autumn them sounds good to me.Fall, Winter, or Autumn you still would want a blanket, hot drink or mug. They all deal with the cold weather and bascially thats what are preparing ourselves for.... But I def agree with Cherish I think its fine to let us choose when we fill out the survey. To each its own and therefore you get to pick if you want a mug, drink, or blanket......

I like the hot drinks idea. Or, mug and recipe for hot drinks. Or, blanket...could be the receiver's choice according to the poll. I have more than enough blankets. And what about people in the south, do they use blankets?

I like the blankets idea. I don't drink hot drinks very much. I very seldom have tea and when I do it is only the good stuff from our old town. Loose leaf teas are fabulous! I never drink coffee or hot chocolate. The blanket idea would be fun and oh so cheap and easy to mail out!

Yeah, that is something to be considered. The last one I requested that I have a SS in Canada or the US because I can't afford to pay international shipping, shipping to the US is already pretty expensive (you're looking at $10 for the smallest package). If you ship something over the border through UPS or FedEx, the recipient has to pay a border fee (lol...I still owe on my last SS package!)

ROFL!!

I like the autumn theme, too. Everyone can list what they'd rather receive (mug, blanket, drink). Cool!

I voted autumn theme because it kind of incorporates everything we talked about, and if you do have a sis in a warmer climate, you can adjust what you send to maybe a wall hanging or something cloth like placemats or something like that in an autumn theme.
