brothertodd -> worst book Im glad I read (8/2/2008 11:25:52 AM)

After reading the post about Greg Lauries 'Lost Boy', It reminded me of a series of the worst book/series I ever read. Not worst as in literary, but the way it made me feel.
This series is by Dave Pelzer- A Child called It, Lost Boy, A Man called Dave, etc
Its a true story of a childs survival in a brutal abusive enviornment by a once loving mother.
After reading it youll wish you hadn't but glad you did

That reminds me of a book I read years ago called Wir Kinder Vom Bahnhof Zoo (We Children from the Zoo Station). I had lived in Berlin during the mid-70s, so someone gave me this book. It is about very young teenage heroine addicts who congregated around the main down-town subway station, written by one of the girls who had gotten off drugs. I was stunned by its raw reality and by the memory of those wretchedly skinny kids who we'd always see slouching at the station. Why did it never click with me who and what they were? How many of them were dead by the time I read the book?

I read "Night" by Elie Weisel (I'm not sure that is his last name) a story of an account of the Holocaust and I read the "Ursala Sunshine" book about Child abuse, I cried from beginning to end reading those books.
