quote:
Yes , especially if we are near 'end times' Well, suppose it's the "end of the line" for God's enemies? In 1945, Douglas MacArthur begged the USA to send 10,000 Christian missionaries to Japan, since a window of opportunity had just opened. What he got was engineers -- and today, Japan is one of the most materialistic cultures on earth, very resistant to Christianity. We did somewhat better when The Wall came down. I got to meet Ukrainians in 1992, who were eager to embrace the gospel of hope. We got there at just about the same time as the pornographers. The church I now belong to started planting daughter churches in the former Soviet bloc around the same time. Will we be ready if Islam suddenly collapses? Folks, learning Arabic, or Farsi, or Turkish, is a long-range commitment, so we'd better get started! Know what terrifies me? Not the (remote) possibility of persecution, but the very real danger of missing God's open doors through my own laziness, pride, or lack of preparation. Those kinds of failures are profoundly demoralizing, and can take years to recover from.
