I tend to agree with Cynthia and Jennifer.....that's how things run here. Food (meals) are officially served at certain times, but the amount eaten is left up to the kid...and any left overs are put in the fridge and gotten back out by the kid when/if they want them. If not eaten by the next meal time, then they are put in a more appropriate left over container and eaten on the "clean out the refrigerator" day.

Nate and I had a Yahtzee tourney instead of his Percents practice today. It was fun! I am trying to decide if I am going to stay for his jukido class tonight or not. I am not in a personable mood right now, but if I drive back home I will only have 40 minutes before having to go back to get him. Also, it's over 100 out there!

The only kind I know of that takes all three....well...let's just say...you'd never be a grandmother...and voices may raise an octave or two.....

Cynthia, Thank you for recognizing why I don't want to encourage manipulative behavior. I do give her small portions to begin with. I realize that her stomach is only as big as her fist and I do give her portions that are that size. If for some reason her portion is bigger, I don't expect her to eat it all.

ORIGINAL: Homegrownkids I am still worried about Noah's tooth. I wish it was Monday so that I could make an appointment for him. I had NO IDEA that nursing a baby could do the same thing as "bottle rot". I read that it isn't as common, but my heart breaks knowing that I am probably the one that caused it. The baby has enough things going on, I really didn't want to add this to his list!! He must be more prone than my other kids. They had bottles and once in a while went to bed with them....and their teeth are fine. Nursing a baby can cause bottle rot..but ONLY in children who have soft enamel and would have gotten a cavity by sneezing anyway.... He may be more prone to cavities due to some of the medications he has been on as well as his general syndrome. DO get it taken care of...it is really easy....in those little teeth they usually just shave off the affected area and depending on how deep it is...may seal it. There is no drilling required...and yes...I know it is a baby tooth...and a lot of people will tell you not to bother to get it filled...but the decay can spread to the root and to the buds of the adult teeth..and then they will come in and be cavity prone as well. One of my children had cavities as a baby..they came in with cavities already in them! Genetic default to my mother and my mil..they both have soft enamel....we got the baby teeth treated and there are NO cavities in her adult teeth that have come in ..and they are much healthier as well. Another thing to keep in mind is that oral health does have long lasting effects on heart health..decay that is left untreated can often lead to heart issues later on down the road.

Yep! Having a blast at FOT! And we are winding down for the night. Missing all those that couldn't make it this year. I read all the posts but don't have time to comment on all.

Judy, I'm so sorry about your little grandbaby. Likewise! Annie, I thought Brandon had a cavity when he was very young but it turned out to be simply a deformed tooth--and I didn't notice it until he was five or older! They said it was probably due to his prematurity, and that it was weaker than normal, so they sealed it. Even if Noah has a cavity, don't let it make you think you did anything wrong or are a bad mommy, because neither is true!!! A friend is in the hospital. They aren't sure what is wrong and are calling it an 'episode'. He went in late last night and they are keeping him for testing. I guess next up is a catheterization and EKG. He did have hernia surgery less than 2 months ago, so I am wondering if clotting might be an issue? Anyway, when Brandon found out he headed to the hospital, which I thought was a good thing. He is very comfortable in those situations and will do a lot to cheer our friend up. Plus any selflessness has to do his own heart good at this point, right?

Ahhhh- my allergies have hit hard. My throat is so sore. It is wednesday- We leave for the mountains in 2 days. I am going to go to get some Clairitin D round lunch time. My throat is so raw that it hurts to speak and swallowing is seriously painful. Please agree with me in prayer that it does the job and I can speak without pain come friday.

I needed to go to the store but justice never let me after I got off...he wanted to eat and be held and eat and eat. The other day it was getting late so we cut our shopping trip in half....so I need to finish the rest of my list. I have lots of half meals, but not any full meals...and no lunch stuff. I guess Paul will have to get something on his way home for lunch.

Thanks for the encouraging words about Noah's tooth. He has an appt. with a regular dentist in a couple of weeks.... actually, he will just be tagging along with all the other children's appt. I'm hoping they will get him in to a ped. dentist if they need to do anything. Yesterday was a LONG day of appt. with Noah. All went well, but I am pooped out today. I have a lot of "activity" this week and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. Monday I leave for a vacation.... but am sad to leave DH home alone:(

Jen, I was wondering if he was going to be allowed to swim due to missing practice, but I see my question was answered. I hate to say this, but I wish the coaches had told him he couldn't swim, due to missing so many practices. Ezri, Hope the Claritin and the mountain air do your throat good!

Ezri- Hope you're feeling better soon. It's no fun to be sick on vacation. Well, they handed out the pastor's resignation letter. It was full of condemnation for the church. One of the elders made the official announcement that the pastor was leaving and broke down in tears. Another elder's wife verbally accosted a church member and said, "I hope you're happy!" This church has many divisions, but the letter and vague, complaining sermons aren't going to solve the problems. From where I sit, the pastor was one of the main people stirring the pot and causing conflict. He will be preaching three more sermons before he leaves and I'm afraid that things will get worse. Hubby is supposed to be teaching our Sunday school class and Joe runs sound, or we'd just go somewhere else. We may end up leaving anyway if things get too bad.

Nate is shading in perentages of things today as part of his math work. He just said, 'I should sign this..'by Nathan Lastname'!' and I laughed and he said, 'I will have you know, it looks quite nice!' LOL Hey, has anyone sent their kid to space camp/space academy? Or has anyone seen any scholarship programs for it?
