Yup, it made a difficult day a lot better. He's always very kind. He happens to be Chinese and he was making this really delicious chinese salad for anyone who wanted some, and totally by accident I went into the room he was doing this in.

I'm glad he made your day go better. I was wondering if there was some romantic feeling involved. Is he handsome? I used to date a Japansese man. He was very handsome. That was a l-o-n-g time ago.

ETA: When I was a young woman, I found Asian men to be extremely attractive. My best friend growing up (and she's still my closest friend) is Korean. I always thought I'd marry an Asian man, but I didn't. She, however, married a blond, blue-eyed man. I was blond growing up and have blue eyes. Kind of funny.

LOL, definitely not! Plus, he's married. His oldest son is adorable, but I am old enough to be his mother.

Well, I am going to be home alone for the evening. Nate is going to youth group with my sister (for some reason he doesn't like our youth group but really likes hers. Go figure)--it's boating/skiing/innertubing night--and Brandon is going to a youth group event at our church.

Brandon spent the afternoon with good people. The husband bought him a starter auto tool kit and is going to help him work on his motorcycle. And, even though I told him that buying Brandon something did not mean he had to do anything for Nate, he bought Nate a book of Sunday-edition Calvin and Hobbes cartoons, which totally made Nate's day, lol. While the husband and Brandon were shopping, I called the wife, and while talking let her know what has been going on with Brandon. So, she and her husband are going to do what they can to influence Brandon for good.

I needed that, because my mom has been undermining me. She says I am treating Brandon like a criminal because he hurt my feelings. She doesn't understand that I am letting him experience consequences and tryign to teach him before he's an adult. It's been very frustrating. She took him shooting, gave him money and helped him buy knives. All things he needs an adult to do...she doesn't understand that when he rejects the authority of adults, he also is rejecting the benefits of that authority.

I am not going to be there. I just have too much on my plate right now and by the time I drop the kids off somewhere, drive an hour to the hospital, stay there all day, drive back home, pick up the kids...I can barely walk up the 4 steps to my house. Literally, barely walk. My ankles are twice as wide as my feet right now and my legs are swollen up past the knee. And yes, my feet are up right now as I sit here typing, and also as much as possible in the hospital.

I'm really afraid what my doctor is going to say when I go Thursday.

Today is our firs "official" day of the new school year. It went.... DD had a melt down. I guess all the new, big books overwhelmed her. She is the type that likes to get work done and will work until it is done. So, between being tired from camp and then a pile of books to read etc.... I tried to help her feel relaxed about it and helped her sort through the first week of lesson plans. After that, she realized that most things could be one really fast for today.

I won't be doing two subjects with the kids until after this week, because I want to get consistent with 6yrdd. I also have a very full week and we will only be able to do school M,W, and F.

It is so hot here it is ridiculous. Heat warnings and everything. Last night, at 10:30, it was still in the mid-90's with the heat index! I'm so grateful for A/C!!!!

Hi,

We survived an air conditioning break down. Apparently we took a lightening hit, it burned out something. My dh worked Sat., so he didn't call anyone. Sunday we had to go out so we could be cool in the car. I asked dh, did he even consider calling someone on the weekend? No, he hadn't, but then he did.

We had a keep-it cool party. We all put on shorts and tank tops (expect dh, reg. t-shirt) and 2 out-of 4 of us wet our shirts. We had ice cream floats and watched a movie. The ac people were very busy and couldn't get there for a few hours. I just went to bed at 7:00 pm. I didn't hear anything (like the phone ringing, or the repairman outside my window) so I figured he didn't come. I woke up and went to the bathroom. My daugher was up and I said, "so he didn't come?" and she told me he did! Yeah! It cost a lot more than I had hoped it would, plus $70.00 more today for a new breaker (double kind and one that is old and hard to find).

Funny thing is that I didn't even miss the air on the first day it was out! It was overcast that day, I'm sure that helped. It was 93 degrees outside yesterday and it was 89 degrees in our house before the repair.

Donna how is Brian doing? Sorry if I missed an update somewhere.

Jennifer - Did your mom get Nate anything?

Blessings,

She makes a habit of trying to make Brandon 'be happy' instead of letting him learn what he needs to learn, yes. Her technique when dealing with difficulties has always been avoidance of some sort...she is an alcoholic, after all. Even though she hasn't had a drink in 18 years she still doesn't have good coping techniques, and whenever Brandon is having problems at home her first response is that he should take a trip with her or do something fun. But she was not honest about it this time--he was supposed to be at her house working.

Nate is just so easygoing and hardly ever jealous. He's very easy to overlook, and that is why I have been making more of an effort lately to engage him in various ways.

Speaking of the boy...Debate Camp starts today and Nate doesn't want to take the bus and try to find the building on the college campus alone on the first day, so I am going to drive him. I will take a book and stay out there since I really don't want to use the gas to go out and back twice tonight. The college campus in question (we have three or four here, believe it or not) is on the other side of the town across the river. Nearly as far as where I used to work.

We also have to go get him a notebook, since I can't find any of my fresh ones. I'm working on that organization thing, really I am...

Hello FOT folks!

I'd like to say I was missing you all but life is busy enough to keep the missing you part fairly well under wraps.

Today is Monday. That'd make it the day that communications start back up with Mr. B after the weeks break. Trill got a call at 8am I asked how it went and she said it was a normal- nothing ever happened how was your week kinda phone conversation.

Mr. B called again round lunch. As they were talking trill's contact lenses started bugging her and she came in- phone attached to her head, and said "We need to order my contacts." I looked at ther and said YOU need to call and order your contacts." She told him she needed to go and take care of that and they hung up. WELL- it had barely been 30 seconds(no exaggeration there folks) and Triss's phone rings. She doesn't look at the number, she just answers... Mmmm it is Mr. B.

/begin sharp sarcasm/ "Hello Mr. B. Yes, she is ordering her contacts Mr. B. I don't know when she will be done Mr. B. " --- break as he says something more--- "I am really trying to get through my email mr. B. yes it IS important Mr. B. I am hanging up now mr. B. Bye." click /end sharp sarcasm/ "mom, why does he do that?"

I told her it was another form of manipulation. He is trying to use triss to get information on her sister and that If I were her knowing what was coming I'd change my voicemail to "Hello, if you are calling for Triss leave a message. if you are Mr. B and calling because you want to know what trill is thinking or doing her number is--- --- ---- Please call HER and ask HER not me."

Sad sad sad.

She has written him a letter explaining that they started all of this courtin to determine if they were a suitable match for marriage. and that marriage requires trust and respect and as she could not trust him right now and he obviously did not respect her wishes to remain pure body, mind, and soul then it was time to step back and try to regain the trust by just being Friends. She wrote the letter because every time she tried to move to the subject in the 2nd call he'd change the subject.

She said the next time he calls(She has yet to call him) she is going to tell him that she has sent him a letter and wants him to refrain from calling until he has received the letter, read the letter, and prayed about the letter.

Pray for her to remain strong. she is making good choices. I need her to continue making good choices- even when they hurt and I know she is hurting.

Oh, and Jerry is back on the pre-deployment survey team. meaning he will be activated the first week of Sept and I should not expect him to be back home after he leave for the pre-deployment survey.

ugghhhh....sorry about that. (btw...I got your PM the other day, just forgot to answer it. I was Erin's contact person for when she was in the hospital, and so I was answering a TON of PM's about her and forgot until now that I forgot to answer your and say thanks for the list and that I would pray specifically for those times.)

thought you all could use some laughter......
(after dinner yesterday at Cracker Barrel)
Jake to Hannah: Daddy said I can take these three lemon seeds home and try to grow a lemon tree
Hannah to Jake: oh wow
*Hannah stops to think (you could see the wheels turning in her head)*
Hannah to me: Mommy, I want to take these three biscuit pieces home
Me: Why?
H: So I can grow a biscuit tree
*ROFLOL!!!! I about spit out my own drink when she said that*
M: biscuits don't grow on trees, you make them, with flour and stuff...remember
H: Oh...so I can't grow my own biscuit tree?
M: No, it doesn't work that way
H: Oh....I will talk to God about that one.

Ez, I'm sorry Jerry has to go, but please tell him how much we appreciate his willingness to serve and your family's sacrifice (and that goes for all the military families here).

I'm there with ya, Ez. I mean, I wish I could be there, but I think it's better I don't think about what I'm missing, and I sure am busy enough to *almost* forget.

I hope my kids grow up to be as strong as your daughters. It stinks Mr. B is not getting it at this point, but you have to be proud of those kiddos of yours!

Brandon seems to not be hanging out with Whatserface, which is nice, but really, it's just a guess since he's never home and rarely tells me where he'll be.

Nate did not enjoy the debating camp, and so we came home halfway through. I sat in with him so I KNOW why he was not having any fun, and did not mind him quitting. The teacher stood there and SAID, 'I taught middle school...once, 30 years ago. It is really not my level' Interestingly, she was really impressed with Nate's manners, and her own grandson, who is the same age, had come with her. But Nate was not ready, and thinks that next year he'll be much better off. In any case, I would not have structured class quite how she did, but it was still a good experience.

Mom was never a mean drunk. Just a there-but-not-really-there drunk, and so basically I had no bringing up. I'm still trying to recover from that.
