Jennifer, when do you hear back about the jobs?

I made lemon butter today. One of our neighbours took all the lemons off of his lemon tree and gave it to us. We've given some of them away, and will give more away. I used some of them though to make the lemon butter. I'm going to give most of it away. John and Joan are definitely making sure that they keep some though.

Hi! Survived the first two days of school. I need to hire some paraprofessionals & line out my SPED schedule....once I get that situated...I'm set.

Jennifer, something will work out on the job situation. Just keep it up before God in prayer as I'm sure you're already doing.

Trish, lemons....wow. You're in AUS, right?

Sure am. I'm in Western Australia.

We used all the oranges off of our tree. We have a lemon tree that got transplanted last year, so it's got about a dozen very green lemons on it. Our peach tree is flowering and has some very small fruit on it. The nectarine tree is also flowering. The apple tree is growing new shoots.

Our garden is quite colourful at the moment. We have freesias, daffodils, hyacinths, irises, anenomes and jonquils growing in the garden at the moment.

Help me out here, Trish. I know the seasons are somewhat different there in Aus. Right now in Kansas we're winding down summer and preparing for fall. It'll be awhile before it's really fall though.

In California, we had our orange "harvest" in the middle of winter. So...is it "winter" there now? If so, the weather must be fairly nice/mild like it is in Cali. Just guessing & trying to figure this out (in case a student ever asks me to explain it....but mostly for my growth!)

It is our winter. We're gearing up for spring. We don't go by the equinoxes. We go by the months.

Our climate is nuts right now. We've got things growing that shouldn't be yet.

The leaves are falling off the tree in my front yard. It's only the middle of August. That shouldn't be happening yet...as fall is still awhile away....

We've got coloured leaves everywhere in our yard. I wish we had Japanese maples in our yard. I love the colours of the leaves.

Well even that would do! I love maples. Don't like maple syrup though.

DH is just thankful ours is NOT the Japanese maple. I guess those have really tiny leaves that get everywhere so it makes it fun to clean up!

Oh, I love maple syrup! I wish I could get it over here. Even if I could it would probably break the bank.

Weather's perfect here! But 2 weeks from today we head back to Kuwait. The only good thing about that is the next day I get my hair done!

I so need to do my hair. It needs cut (have a coupon for a free cut...was a complimentary gift since I'm a new teacher). But I'm also thinking of some highlights. Just don't know what to do with my hair....but it needs to be something that's a bit more professional & not just straight & long....

I had my hair cut not so long ago. Nothing special, just something simple that I can tie up. I've thought about putting some red highlights through my hair, but I don't know. I've got pretty sensitive skin and I'm always worried that I'll end up having a reaction or something.

Well, I'm pretty "plain jane" as I don't even wear makeup. But I've been considering acrylic nails (or something) as well just because I want to have more of a professional appearance. Makeup isn't going to happen though (I have a pretty good complexion with an occasional blemish so it's not really necessary).

I don't like wearing makeup. I wear it to weddings, but that's it.

Jennifer, would you like the recipe for the lemon butter?

Hmm nails are nice way to give a little something extra but I dont like getting my nails done...for me those acrylic nails even when done short, just get in way of doing things I like to do..plus I have thin nails so when those acrylic ones start to come off its a pain But my sister loves getting hers done.

That's something I have worried about too. I'm a special education teacher, so it's not like I quite do the same duties as a regular education teacher. But I still need to look nice, etc.

Just trying to figure out how to do that...especially since I have a bad habit of being a nail biter (esp. when nervous, etc.)...

Ah...well if you bite them off it may not be worth getting acrylic ones... when my sister was younger she did that too and they only lasted her 5 days... and so my mom stop letting her get it done lol

Well what I currently am doing is, keeping mine trimed and adding hardcoat to my nails since I have thin ones and it helps them look nice and gives them more strength.

Hmmmm, may have to do that. If I could get them to grow out & keep them at that length without them driving me nuts...I could use stuff to do a French manicure which looks nice.
