Affairs are become too commonplace with people in authority. I heard a newscaster state that when he was working in Washington DC some 20 years ago he was shocked by all of the affairs which were going on among the politicians. Politicians are very powerful people and they are awed by their followers.

Having affairs is not only a politicians weakness. We have Christians in ministry who have had affairs ending their marriages in divorces and are still in the ministry. Are we requiring more from politicians than Christian leaders?

I am not sure if all of these servants of the Lord have gone before their churches and followers and confessed their sin of adultery like John Edwards has done. Granted he was forced into his confession to the world because of the tabloid exposure.

Yes, I admit John Edwards was wrong and sinned against his wife and his family, his staff and the public. They need our prayers.

The Bible exhorts us to pray for those in authority over us. So I need to pray for our president, politicians and Christian leaders.

And, by jumping on the "Edwards is a two-faced liar" bandwagon, are we not also using him and his sin for our own political advantage - the very thing we criticize him for doing with others?

Not at all jumping on the bandwagon. Could see through the guy when he first ran for the Senate. When he first was pushed by the NC DC, he hadn't even bothered to vote in several elections. He was chosen for two reasons only: his looks and his speaking ability.

Been puting up with the local media adolation of the guy. And how am I using him for my political advantage?

He is a two bit liar. He slams Wal-mart then has a staffer go out to Wal-mart and cut in line for those waiting to buy an X-box. The staffer gets caught and the BG lies about that.

When someone says he cares about a cause, he usually invests heavily in that cause. Not the BG as he was using the poor for his own political ambintion.

I think the best part is yet to come; where did the 15,000 dollars a month of hush moner that was given to the woman by Edwards campaign finance officer come from.

If it was campaign money, then watch out; big trouble on the horizon.

Thanks

John Edwards is no longer in authority over us. Not that it would be bad to pray for him, especially after we discussed him but I still thought I would point that out.

The dude's claim that he was the son of a mill worker was a deception. Yes, his father was a mill worker, but he worked in management.

On the campaign, he told an audience that his dad was so poor he had to borrow the $50 bucks to take him home. Before another audience he told them they were too poor to afford a meal at McDonalds.

Now the mistress is refusing a paternity test. No one can explain how she was qualified to produce videos for the campaign. How she can afford to live in a mansion in Chapel Hill and a room at the Beverly Hills Hilton.

In a similar vien, no one can explain how the individual who is claiming paternity of the child can afford to live in a mansion. Looks as if the Breck Girl has a bunch of explaining to do. As Rev. Wright would say "the chickens are coming home to roost."

Also in the mansion with the guy claiming to be the father is the guy's present wife and children.

This one in going to be a doozy by the time the truth comes out.

Sure glad that Edwars has plent of bucks to pay for all that cover-up.

Praise God he did not make it to president.

Article

quote:

McCain likes to illustrate his moral fibre by referring to his five years as a prisoner-of-war in Vietnam. And to demonstrate his commitment to family values, the 71-year-old former US Navy pilot pays warm tribute to his beautiful blonde wife, Cindy, with whom he has four children.

But there is another Mrs McCain who casts a ghostly shadow over the Senator’s presidential campaign. She is seldom seen and rarely written about, despite being mother to McCain’s three eldest children.

And yet, had events turned out differently, it would be she, rather than Cindy, who would be vying to be First Lady. She is McCain’s first wife, Carol, who was a famous beauty and a successful swimwear model when they married in 1965.

She was the woman McCain dreamed of during his long incarceration and torture in Vietnam’s infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’ prison and the woman who faithfully stayed at home looking after the children and waiting anxiously for news.

But when McCain returned to America in 1973 to a fanfare of publicity and a handshake from Richard Nixon, he discovered his wife had been disfigured in a terrible car crash three years earlier. Her car had skidded on icy roads into a telegraph pole on Christmas Eve, 1969. Her pelvis and one arm were shattered by the impact and she suffered massive internal injuries.

quote:

When McCain – his hair turned prematurely white and his body reduced to little more than a skeleton – was released in March 1973, he told reporters he was overjoyed to see Carol again.

But friends say privately he was ‘appalled’ by the change in her appearance. At first, though, he was kind, assuring her: ‘I don’t look so good myself. It’s fine.’

quote:

McCain has acknowledged that he had girlfriends during this time, without going into details. Some friends blame his dissatisfaction with Carol, but others give some credence to her theory of a mid-life crisis.

He was also fiercely ambitious, but it was clear he would never become an admiral like his illustrious father and grandfather and his thoughts were turning to politics.

In 1979 – while still married to Carol – he met Cindy at a cocktail party in Hawaii. Over the next six months he pursued her, flying around the country to see her. Then he began to push to end his marriage.

quote:

Ted Sampley, who fought with US Special Forces in Vietnam and is now a leading campaigner for veterans’ rights, said: ‘I have been following John McCain’s career for nearly 20 years. I know him personally. There is something wrong with this guy and let me tell you what it is – deceit.

‘When he came home and saw that Carol was not the beauty he left behind, he started running around on her almost right away. Everybody around him knew it.

‘Eventually he met Cindy and she was young and beautiful and very wealthy. At that point McCain just dumped Carol for something he thought was better.

‘This is a guy who makes such a big deal about his character. He has no character. He is a fake. If there was any character in that first marriage, it all belonged to Carol.’

RC, I agree.

My total disrespect for a man who cheats on his wife and then lies about it until it is suddenly more self-serving for him to give the true facts has nothing at all to do with politics. This election is one in which I feel I have NO candidate worth voting for and this type of behavior is just one of many reasons why there is nobody running in either party I have confidence in at all. Not to mention his wife has breast cancer. How low can you go?

I don't need politics, religion, or any kind of favoritism at all to know how I am supposed to love honor and respect my wife and our marriage.

I watched the interview on Nightline and he kept side stepping the questions and not really answer directly. Why is this all coming out now instead of when this all had happened?

Some cynics have said that the left-leaning media purposely kept it under wraps.

I don't buy that. There certainly are elements of the "media" that are left leaning, but the media loves a scandal more than anything. The left-leaning media certainly didn't cut Clinton much slack during the non-stop coverage of the Lewinsky affair.

The mantra goes that they kept it under wraps so as to not hurt Obama and Edwards.

The media could no longer deny the truth when the Enquirer caught the dude in the hotel.

You are correct colliefan, hanging out in a hotel at 2:30 in the morning with someone other than your wife, and bouncing the baby on your knee will gring a lot of unwanted attention.

I thnk there are a number of folks chasing the "Money trail" now (estimated to be between 3-8 million dollars). Shold be very interesting.

I saw a video clip where the girlfriend was trash talking Edward's wife; that also might bring some more interest into play As Elizabeth Edwards might not stay so solidly behind her carousing hubby.

I am wondering if it would be more of a challenge trying to find a politician who has not caroused around, if such an animal exists.

Good point, but this story will go far beyond the normal bed-hopping, there are most likely numerous federal laws broken (felonies) by the money payments for coverup.

If it was someone personal monies then there were Federal income tax laws broken, if the monies were campaign funds then federal election law was broken in numerous ways. All are felonies and most serious infractions.

Thanks
RC

The story was broken by Matt Drudge. The so-called mainstream media certainly didn't do it. Get a copy of the special prosecutor's report and you'll find that much of Clinton's garbage was sifted through before the media presented it.

Did you ever hear of Juanita Broaddick? Chances are you may have heard of her in passing. She's the Arkansas business woman who said Clinton raped her. She identified where, when, the circumstances, dialog and other details. There was almost no interest in her story.
