JCMK -> Does anyone know of a Bible like this? (7/29/2008 2:49:21 PM)

I'm interested in finding a Bible that has the four Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - written together as one book and put in chronological order (as best as can be done).

It would have to be in King James Version because that is the only version that I read.

I'm sure somebody has put the four Gospels together and written a book like this, but I don't know how to search for one. I buy my books on Amazon.com or eBay.com most of the time.

Does anyone has any suggestions?

Thanks!

Well, if you just buy a chronological Bible, you'll have it, but more likely the whole Bible, not just the four. Is that a problem for your purpose?

Somewhere I have a book called something like the Harmony of the Gospels (?). I'm not sure what translation it is. I'll check this out and get back to you unless someone else responds first.

Are you asking for a KJV version because you are KJVO, or just because that is what you prefer? Because so far, I haven't found a KJV version, but I did find an version based on the 1901 ASV, so, linguistically the style would be similar.

Harmony of the Gospels

I found this:

Baker's Harmony of the Gospels

The Fourfold Gospel or a Harmony of the Four Gospels by J. W. McGarvey and Phlip Y. Pendleton, Cincinnati, OH: The Standard Publishing Foundation, n.d.

The Life of Christ in Stereo byJohnston M. Cheney, Portland, OR, Western Conservative Baptist Seminary, 1969.

Of the two books cited above, the first one is in KJV, but the second one does a much better job of blending the gospels together and makes it read like a single book. It was translated from the original languages by the author, I believe, so is not in a particular version

There is also
Synopsis of the Four Gospels

It lines up the 4 books , 2 books on the left page and 2 on the right, in a side-by-side comparison so you can see the relationship and differences in the chapters and stories.
But it's not just "lined up reading". If one doesn't have that particular story, there is a gap in the page, rather "chart-like" so you can see the differences.
