The Wiggles aren't too bad. They are my favorite out of all the kiddie shows.

David is trying to figure out how to suck his thumb. He hasn't quite gotten yet and it frustrates him.

Gwen slept so great last night - 11:30 to 4, nursed, 4 - 8 and then nursed for almost an hour straight (I switched sides 5 times!!!) - catnapped for half and hour - ate AGAIN and is now napping ... albeit ON me

Emily - Gwen's occasionally found her thumb/hand and quite enjoys sucking on it when she can figure it out - LOL

For sleeping during the day, Gwen won't generally sleep very well unless she's on one of us - we can put her in the sling and she does fine, but wakes up when we put her down. At night she's fine - she nurses to sleep.

that's Justice too (and that's how Jack was too.....well, all mine were at this age). He likes the swing during the morning long nap....but I have to hold him til he goes into his second sleep cycle of that nap, otherwise he wakes when I put him down. He likes to lay on a blanket twice a day while awake....and likes the swing when he is awake....but for most daytime sleeping he likes to be held

Personally, I gently discouraged thumb-sucking. Much preferred dummies (pacifiers) as it's easier to then stop later. You can take dummies away but you can't take thumbs away!

Jae, I think Chase went through a stage like that, he naps quite well now, but there were days where he would sleep on me for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. It could just be a "stage"... sorry, I don't know any way to "fix" it.

me too manda. I remember the years of my parents trying every way imaginable to get my brother to stop sucking his thumb.....so every time my babies tried I would take out the thunb and give them a paci (only we call it a plug)

Yesterday felt like a visit to the first month again. I was so tired, but I think I handled it well. I read Sarah's post about being over stimulated so I turned EVERYTHING Off - lights and all - reclined on the chair and patted/bounced him to sleep. He FINALLY fell asleep (you could tell he was exhausted) and we slept like that until 2am. It was a sweet moment that I cherished (the sleeping on me part). I never thought I'd miss that. LOL

That said - At this point, it seems there is no way in any way that he'll soothe himself to sleep. I have to pat his back or butt while *holding* his head. Is this a phase kiddos go through? Just wondering. :)

I am going to my MIL's today for a break from my house and such. I'm looking forward to it!

Oh and P.S. - What are the wiggles?

David gave himself a big hickey on his arm on Friday. I was at the mall with my mom and sister and he was in his car seat/stroller and was happily sucking on his arm the whole time. When we got home I saw it and freaked out a little because I didn't know what it was. My mom was like "Don't worry. it's just a hickey." LOL

Jae - Just curious, but do you have a rocker/glider at home? Hunter did not soothe himself to sleep until he was a year old, then it was like a switch turn on. I rocked him every day for naps and bedtime, I would have been lost with out my glider. Hunter still to this day will sometimes refuse to soothe himself and as soon as I sit in the rocking chair he snuggles me and goes to sleep. It is sweet! Though I do not miss doing it every day.

I declined a rocker/glider because I had no room for one. I really regret that now.

An Australian TV show for preschoolers. It's four guys (Greg, Anthony, Jeff, and Murray- but Greg's left and it's now Sam) and their friends- Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Dorothy the Dinosaur and Henry the Octopus. Lots of silly songs and dancing. All three of mine have loved/love it. It's shown on the Disney Channel and you can get DVDs also. (Can you tell I've seen a few hundred episodes?)

Oh man, Zach and Rae loved the Wiggles. We have a couple of their DVDs. I'm sure Mary will love them just as much. Just the other day I caught my self singing one of their songs.

yes...usually around his age (well, really it's more like ever two months or so the first half year...then every three months the next half year...then every six months after that throughout the second year) most babies tend to revert in some ways. I think it's because of them learning so much so fast. Some revert in their sleep patterns being turned back for a little while though. It's totally normal.

LOL Emily...how funny!!!! (Jake once gave me a hicky on the side of my breast when he sucked on the wrong part when I was asleep with him...lol)

Jae...YOUTUBE LINK to some of the Wiggles songs

Hee hee... I've had "Head, shoulders, knees and toes" and "Hot potato" in my head for the last two days! I enjoy it as much as Caden does! DH looked them up and said the Wiggles were all graduate students (in Education) and the show started as part of their graduate work.

We went to gymboree today. I'm going to try it for a month and see how it goes. Caden seemed to like it pretty well.

He's getting easier every day. Right now he is in his pack and play looking up at some hangy toys - I'm actually cooking a REAL meal!! Fish, sweet potatoes and green beans!

Kara, at one point the only thing that would calm Akeelah down was if we sang the song the orange people in 4 Square sang.

"Oh my friends are you here? Ole! Oh my friends are you there? Hup Hey!"

Oh man, try getting that one out of your head (which you'll probably have to do now! )

Jae you don't know the Wiggles? They are just the coolest kids group around, well I am partial to them as they are Australian :) We have about 7 or 8 of their dvd's, they finally made a new tv show with Sam in it which is shown on tv, they are doing alot of old classic songs now, remaking them their own style. Dorothy has her own show too, its very pink and rosy "te he he he" (that was Dorothy laughing).

Nath woke every 2 hours again last night. I really don't know what to do about it or what to say when I see the Paed next week.

I love the Wiggles too, but the kids aren't into them yet. It's really a good program, and I haven't seen anything I don't agree with yet.

Jimmy got his first bee sting today. We have those little white flowers on our lawn, and a bee was on one doing his thing, and Jimmy stepped on him with a bare foot. So, from now on the kids are going to wear sandals outside. Poor little guy.

Yeah, it wasn't stuck in there really, just brushed it off along with yellow guts. Then I put baking soda and water on it, and that seemed to help and gave him benedryl. Tomorrow it'll be really itchy, so I'll put some hydrocortizone on there. I'm really hoping those little white flowers will get tall enough to be chopped off by the lawn mower (or land moyer as Timmy calls it) so they'll quit coming in our yard. I appreciate what they do and all, but I don't want them around my kids. Jimmy broke out ever so slightly in hives, not too many. Next time he gets stung it will be worse. I'll go out there and cut all the little flowers myself if the lawn mower can't get them. I don't know if Timmy is allergic to them like Jimmy.
