Erin, do you like Gatorade? I thought I didn't because I hadn't had it since I was a kid, but they have so many new flavors nowadays like Melon, Staw-Kiwi, Tropical Orange. Those are the best ones.

Wal-Mart has these wonderful protein drinks. They are in the fruits and veggie aisle. The one I love is vanilla chai flavored. There is loads of protein in a serving. They have fruit juices and veggie juices as well. Your doing great Erin. Take care of yourself and that little one. Tell Klay he has to help you get enough fluid and calories to keep making that mama milk for his son. S4L

S4L, can you taste the protein in them? What are they called? Erin, you are doing an awesome job!! David is 2 months old and I am still having trouble eating and drinking enough. It is 1:20 and I haven't had anything to eat today. I had some orange juice when he woke up at 4:30 to eat and some chocolate milk when he woke up at 7:00 to eat. I also drink the Carnation instant breakfast drinks sometimes. I keep a bottle of Gatorade beside me on the couch so I can drink it while pumping. David eats a LOT so I spend most of my day pumping and feeding him. I think he is finally satisfied so I am making my lunch now. Of course he usually decides he is hungry again as soon as I sit down to eat. LOL

I'm not sure the name. I don't have one in the house right now. I think it was something along the lines of Perfectly Protein. It might be the Bolthouse farm drinks but that isn't clicking. I can't ever taste the protein and I'm sensitive to the taste of soy and whey proteins. Either way any of those things are great for you. You get your fluids while getting some great nutrition. S4L

I concur! Yay for 2.5 hours! I certainly wouldn't have passed that up either!

Go Erin, go!! (Oh, and if you "miss" a pumping, just do it later - add it in Your breasts are never really empty and the stimulation is good whether it's on 'schedule' or not!!) BF'ing has been going better for us in the past couple of days. I think maybe I was offering the breast too much and Gwen was frustrated because it's not what she really wanted? Because of my overactive MER, feeding her before she's really ready is frustrating for me, gets us both wet, and is an exercise in futility. She'll latch on, suck, get the letdown and pop off and want nothing to do with it. I've found that in the last few days, though, if I wait to offer until she's ready (ie. almost crying), she'll latch on and stay latched and get a REALLY GOOD FEED - instead of one letdown and then switching sides, she's been staying on for several letdowns per side and then popping herself off. It's hard though - I want to read her cues well enough so that she doesn't have to get to the point of crying, and I don't want to 'put her off' or distract her if she's really hungry so she thinks I'm not going to feed her. How do you know your baby is crying because she's hungry or because of something else? When your baby fusses do you offer the breast right away or do you try different things?
