The Lord has led a woman into my life today, that has a sister in trouble with the law here in Mexico. 2 1/2 years ago her sister, a US citizen, was put in a women's prison outside of Guadalajara. I feel this is it, the Lord is taking me into the prison. The sister, now attending our church, was able to lead her sister to the Lord after she wanted to commit suicide. This is a petition I found online about the woman's story and explaining how the US government hasn't done anything to free her even though the person who got her into this trouble testified that she is innocent. http://searchwarp.com/swa331002.htm

What do you think I can do to help this woman get out? I don't want to get into trouble with the government. This is new territory for me. Anyone else ever have experience with this type of injustice or ministry out of the US? How did you deal with it?

Right now, I'm just feeling like I can be a support as a listening ear and prayer. I'm not sure what more I can do? When they start talking about contacting our government and news media, I don't have a clue how.

Well, the website you linked pretty much says what to do. It appears that you should primarily appeal to the U.S. Embassy and the Red Cross. As you are actually there, you might have more success than people trying to do it from here.

Hi funny -girl is that the baby you caring for So cute how that going!
As for the prison thing keep in touch with the embassy. Also try to get people from the USA involved. Maybe from here home state etc, the louder the voice the easier it is to get help some times!

Have you talked to any lawyers down here? Have you been in to visit her? Not sure what the prison there is like, but here you can get in to visit with simply an ID...and it's not very terrifying! [;)]

The prison system is crazy here. We hear incredible stories every time we visit. If this woman is truly an American citizen, then the embassy is her best bet. Lots of folks down here say they are US citizens, but in reality, they aren't. Also, there are many truly innocent people in the prisons down here. Just found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time or against the wrong person.

For starters, try to not make too many waves. Be very respectful and very calm and listen closely and pray hard.

Email me, if you'd like. I'm still here! [:D]

Thank you. Her sister was suppose to have put my name in a long time ago and in the meantime, I took a baby in and haven't had any extra time. I saw the sister at church on Sunday but she didn't say anything to me about going and visiting her sister.
