Well it certainly has been an, uhm, interesting day.

After coming home from the post office today, I realized that I mailed a package to the wrong address (buyer has 2 different homes in two different states). It was totally my fault; I freely admit that.

So I went back up to the post office as quick as I could, but the package had already been picked up by Knoxville's post office.

I then come home and send an email to the buyer, apologizing and offering to refund the shipping amount.

She sends me a rather hostile and demeaning email and then demands that I refund the entire amount of the auction or she will report me to PayPal. Ironically, I had, by that time, already decided to refund not only the shipping but the auction amount, as well. The threat was really unecessary - and a bit over the top.

As soon as I read her email, I immediately refunded the entire amount back to her PayPal account, sent her an email telling her about it and again offering my apologies.

Her response to that was to leave me a negative with a shouting (all-caps) comment, to boot.

And the kicker of this is that the auction was for 3 California Raisins that sold for $.99.

I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but it has.

Conversely!!! I received another email this evening from a man who bought several Star Wars figurines from me. One of the toys arrived damaged, and I got one of the other toys mixed up with another item (one that he didn't buy . . . so now I need to contact the "real" buyer of the toy he has and explain the situation to him).

This man who sent me the email, however, was very kind. He told me he could glue the damaged toy and it would be ok, and he also offered to send the incorrect toy back to me . . . because he didn't want someone to be upset with me. He then assured me that he wasn't angry and that he completely understood the mix-up; he said it was common among non-collectors.

I'm not thrilled that I goofed up on his order and I'm certainly not happy that one of the toys arrived damaged (man, I'm going through the peanuts and bubble wrap LOL) . . . but the tone of his note went a very long way for me while I was reading it.

Ahhh . . . the joys of selling.

LOL! I was actually talking about real cheesecake. I thought I had read somewhere that you didn't like it.

you remembered right ... anyone who does not like it either is welcome to join my anti-cheesecake platform (not trying to distract from the toy topic at hand) ...

yeah some people are cool about using glue, others meh ... i was selling some figures for a friend a couple years ago and these were unused but i guess it's just plastic ... i haven't read your shipping procedure but i'll only ship to paypal confirmed address, even if customer requests a different house as they can contest charges with paypal ... of course they can dispute with credit card and generally win too i think so maybe it's a false sense of security ... never again will i offer to eBay for a friend, too much hassle and people buying things can be such jerks ...

What all does your anti-cheesecake platform entail? How do you propose to rid the world of such a dastardly or delicious dessert?

You still have this platform, Ed? I thought it disbanded after the production of evidence....

Oh Sharon-Marie. I'm so sorry you had bad dealings with a buyer. That's unfortunate. I hope her negative feedback doesn't hurt you too much in your overall standings. Hopefully other people will give you more positive feedback to cover up hers.

I'm pleased that the other man was so forgiving, also. It seems perhaps he's been in the same shoes as you are now and understands what you are dealing with.

Now for the off-topic, topic at hand ..... I LOVE cheesecake. It's the only cake I really like. And it's the kind of wedding cake I shall have.

My favorite is pumpkin. I'm a sucker for anything pumpkin.
But I'll really eat any kind of cheesecake. Fazolli's used to have a chocolate-chocolate chip cheesecake that was AWESOME!!!
Chocolate's good.
Anything with fruit on it is good.
With cherries soaked in a syrup on top??? Oh man. That's just yummy!!!!!

I didn't even see this earlier.

My terms do not state that I will only mail to PayPal address. I have shipped to other addresses than what was listed for the buyer on PayPal, and I've also declined to do so. But I also know that PayPal won't back up a seller if an item is shipped to a non PP address. I've never shipped to a non PP address overseas, though.

So far, except for one, my buyers have been good; some of them have been excellent; a couple of them deserve a BIG chunk of chocolate!

Update on the guy that I sent a wrong item to: He actually bought several items, and only one was the wrong one. He's been VERY NICE about it. I also contacted the buyer who I think is going to receive the item that the other guy was supposed to receive (and visa versa). He hasn't received his package yet, but probably will on Monday. He has been VERY NICE about it as well.

The timing was wonderful because these two guys have been a great buffer for the lady who was so angry with me. Ironically, her item cost $.99. These two men . . . they both spent much more money than that for their items.

So, do you still do anything on eBay or was that one experience enough for you?

SO! Before I return this thread to the topic at hand - CHEESECAKE!!! . . .

I met with the Board of Directors here at White Rose Treasures, and we have unanimously decided that we are done with the auctions.

And no, our decision wasn't based on the negative feedback. Our decision was based on other considerations.

I guess now would be a good time for me to stop talking about myself in plural form . . .

My plan was to take this past week and use it for the last week of toy auctions, and then to use the next 3 weeks for auctioning other stuff.

However. As you can tell, I didn't upload any new auctions this past week. Between shipping all the Star Wars stuff (of which I'm still doing) and my body forcing me to get caught up on some sleep, the first part of this past week just zoomed by.

I had to order some more supplies; and in the packing of stuff that I've been doing lately, I realized that big items required a lot of shipping supplies; more bubble wrap; more peanuts, etc., etc.

I guess I'm just over it. LOL

~ ~ ~

Some of y'all may be wondering what I'm going to do with all the stuff I've yet to auction (and some of y'all may not even care and am waiting for me to get back to cheesecake. LOL).

I'm basically donating it; to various people and/or entities, for various reasons.

There.

How's that for an explanation.

Now . . . regarding cheesecake.

I'm not sure that I have any passion towards it one way or another. I certainly don't dislike it, but I'm not sure it's something I've ever craved.

Christine - what kind of cheesecake are you going to have at your wedding?

Catherine - I've forgotten; what kind did you have at your wedding?

Ed - Has Tina totally converted you yet or are you still hanging on. I should check out your thread.

I've never been asked that question before. They didn't ask me what flavor I wanted when I ordered the cake. I think it was regular cheesecake with a chocolate crust.
