Matthew 24:3-14

Signs of the Close of the Age
3As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?" 4And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. 5For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. 6And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
9"Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

For the love of many will grow cold but not for sincere Christians.

Romans 12:9

Love
9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

PeterD, have you noticed that most of the posts you're responding to are done "tongue in cheek"?

Good morning armydude,

May I ask what, "tongue in cheek" means, I've heard this before but I'm not really sure what it means.

The posts are made in a joking manner. They're not meant to be taken seriously.

The issue in the OP (opening post) was solved a few pages into it, and now we've started joking around.

Feel free to add to the serious discussion part if you like, but I did want to point out that the posts you're quoting are just kidding.

Hello armydude,

Thank you for the explaination.

Personally, I enjoy encouraging one another,
so its hard for me to joke with anyone because
if I did it would be taken to seriously.

Sometimes people let me know when their
offened because of something I said or even do
just for baring Jesus Name.
So for me it is hard thing to purposely offend/joke even
in a Christian way.

To me Crosswalk is a place for building up and not for tearing down.

Agreed on every point.

If you have a difficult time getting across to people that you're just kidding around the well placed smiley can help with that.

For instance:

"I am so offended."

"I am so offended. "

One looks serious, while the other is a little easier to tell as a joke. Ya know?

Eeek! I have known people who don't choose to put smiley's in their posts.
Many a time I have been too scared to respond.

That offends me.

Oh, smileys are definitely a must when you're not sure.

Or if you might sound like you're running rough shod.

To make it absolutely clear, take the self-deprecating route.

I don't use smileys because they are too expensive.

To many of us, joking around is a way of building one another up. It is a way to form a bond with each other.

You are right, Crosswalk is a place for building up and not tearing down. That is why we have the Terms of Service in place.

Lots of them. I have seen it many times, but they keep coming back.

But I mean it!

I really do.

I'm too offended and hurt to stay.

I can't take it any more.

Please say something that makes me stay!

Please beg me not to go!

Please say that you did not intend to offend me and you're sorry!

And whatever you do, don't hold your button down and run your mouse over this post or my last one. Don't even think of it.

I'm really leaving this time.

I'm OUT!
