I'm just so tired. The hard part for me with the twins is letting go and trusting dh to do things. He has a tendancy to baby them rather than push them. I've always been the one to do this sort of stuff, but due to our circumstances he is home so the job falls to him. My Jessica is such a big help with her sisters, even if it is just keeping them amused. She really has a giving, nurturing heart. If you don't mind my asking why are you seeing a neurologist? Dh has MS so he see's one and I have epilepsy so I see one. For me it is only 2 times a year since my sezures are well controled, but dh see's his doctor about every 6 weeks. I hope you get some answers and help. In His grace, Kim Q

Week two of Craziness! Tomorrow we are dropping the girls off at their bus stop at 8:05 AM then taking Ty up to our friends home where he will be spending the week, while he is working at the zoo. Then once we are comfortable with where his bike is going to be stashed while he's working and are confident that he knows how to get there and back to our friend's house then we'll goof off at the zoo for a bit then come home. I have to pick the girls up later at 5 PM from the bus stop. Then everyday this week, Brian will drop the girls off at 8AM and Ethan and I will pick them up at 5 PM, everyday EXCEPT Thursday afternoon and Friday, as they are spending Thursday night at camp and I'm going up to camp on Friday to pick them up. Pray for me! It's going to be a crazy week! But Ty did have a great time at his theatre camp last week. I think he may try another class through the community arts program next summer too. STILL need to make sure Ty has enough clothes packed and his uniform along with toiletries and such. STILL need to check the girls' bags to make sure they have what they need. Then it's in bed by 10 PM for EVERYONE! Blessings, Garsy

Kathy! Glad you felt a bit better today. I was wondering about the neurologist too. Have they already tested for mono? You can still get that even if you have been exposed or had it. Let us know what the doc says. Today we went to Thomas Jefferson's house. It was pretty cool because the tour was for families and geared to the kids. There were only three families and all of the kids got hands on things to do. It was great. Now it is just driving. I don't know how many of you remember what happened last year on our way home from Florida, but it was a disaster. All of the kids got sick in the car multiple times. By the time we got to our hotel, the smell had soaked into our skin. Everything smelled and we didn't want to chance that so we planned an "emergency resting day" just in case and sure enough, Kay woke up this moring and threw up so we are going to use that day and booked another night tomorrow in Indianapolis. That way it is only 6 hours in the car tomorrow and 4 and 1/2 on Tuesday. They can do that.

Okay, finishing a long but blessed day. Our first night of Bible school was this evening. God was very good and helped me accomplish what needed done (using the help of my family, employer, and other Christian servants at church) when I was not adequately prepared by this morning. I didn't think I would be serving a church tonight, but, I am glad that I listened to God and made sure that I was there (and I had an understanding boss). We had a good turnout for the first evening. It's been a long day...Sunday School, cook a meal for my family, work all day, go to church for Bible school, and home. It was nice to have a meal when I got here. I'm too old for complete junkfood days like today. Yesterday was just a busy...work all day, attend a Bible school planning meeting, pay bills, grocery shop, meet my family at a swim party at the pool... This after a week of broken eye glasses and water heaters, extra work days, and general chasing around to take care of a family. If I forgot to tell all those who prayed about our hot water situation, please accept my thanks for your prayers. DH was able to fix the water heater the 2nd day and it has worked beautifully since. Kath-glad you are feeling some better today. Please keep us posted. quote:
Then it's in bed by 10 PM for EVERYONE! Spoken like someone who does not have children in their 20's living at home.

Cool, we missed you by a couple of years, we went in 2005! Did you go see the little house in the big woods? We didn't; I didn't know how close it was when we planned our trip. It seems like it was only a couple of hours east of there. Dee

We did go see the house that Laura described in one of her books as being very big. It was so tiny by today's standards! I know that we went to a few of her other museums. We were on our way from Indiana to visit Mt. Rushmore. We made several trips when we were in Indiana to visit my former in-laws in MN. There are a lot of her museums in the states that we would travel through.

That's neat that you got to see those places Roberta. We've been to their place in Kansas where they lived briefly as well as her adulthood home in Mansfield, Missouri. Now that you mention it I do remember their homes being very small. Dee

I'm thinking that the Little House in the Big Woods was in Wisconsin. I could be wrong though. When we would go visit my former in-laws, we would start in Indiana (where we lived) and drive through part of IL, part of IA and into MN. On the way back we would go MN to Wisconsin, to IL to IN. We made 2-3 trips a year and would always stop off somewhere to see something because I was homeschooling our dd. We always stopped off and saw two ladies who I met while moderating in a Christian chat room. One was in Wis and the other was about a half-hour away from St. Cloud.

Julia, I've never known VBS to start on a Sunday before. I assume that is what you mean by Bible School. Did you have a nice crowd? quote:
Julia, yay for hot water and a good night at VBS! Do you have it all week? VBS that is.... Yes, we have Bible school all week. I didn't call it VBS because we use a different program called Neighborhood Bible Time. Our teens started on Saturday (it's a big outreach program) and they have all sorts of competitive games and activities, great food, and an evangelist leads the activities. By great food I mean they don't have the cookies and lemonade...they have light meals. Saturday they had a hot dog supper and last evening they had a nacho bar and fruit. The rest of us (under 7th grade) get 2 cookies and lemonade...the standard Bible school fare. The elementary and preschool children start on Sunday and end with a program on Friday evening. Our classes are Sunday through Thursday. They have a children's evangelist that does a program and then we have a class time with a Wordless Book study and a missionary story. The children earn ribbons as their prizes for attendance, memorization, study, bringing a visitor, etc... We have an excellent bus ministry and they are a big part of our program. We had 14 rising first graders last evening and over 1/2 of the kids were from our bus ministry. Prayers for our program would be appreciated. This is my first year teaching the "older" children. In the past I've worked in preschool and in the background activities.

Kylie-Are your children happy to be finishing their winter break? You're working now...you can't add carpool onto your time. I hope that your children have a great new session of school! We're starting school in a little less than 5 weeks.

I think your right Roberta, about the big woods being in Wisconsin. I'm not sure why I thought it was so close; maybe it was something else closer by. How long was your break Kylie? I hope your kids are at least reasonably ready to go back. That sounds like great fun Julia! Praying all goes well with the bigger kids. Dee

To go to the family reunion or not? Yes... - BigBee may be working next year and unable to go.
- My Aunts/Uncles aren't getting younger
- Gas isn't getting cheaper
- Who knows where it will be next time
- It is being held less than 50 miles from where the Bee family settled when they got off the boat and we can show the kids Poppa's 5-great (5? 6?) grandparents grave site.
No... - Hard feelings between the family and my mother make going an insult to my mother (in her mind)
- Family members ask questions about mom which drive me nuts because I am supposed to give very specific answers and remember who said what and with what inflection.
- It is on the other end of the state and would require a night at a hotel and the purchase of meals / store bought picnic food
- We just took a big trip (for us, anyhow)
- Home repair projects and Scouting activities need to be planned, as well as getting ready for school
- BigBee may be working THIS year and unable to go...
Well, what do you think? I have 2 days to decide. We were NOT going until we got back from New York last night and I realized how much money we spent to go see some airplanes and waterfalls and felt awful for thinking we couldn't spend that on family. And, we are getting 30+ MPG in the Impala.

If at all possible, I'd go and make it a game to see how cheap you can do it. Know anyone that lives out there that you can camp on their lawn? And wear a t-shirt that says something like "Leave the drama behind, please". LOL You just never know when is the last time you might see someone...

We could camp in my Uncle's lawn, but that would encourage the drama. Can I get one that says "If you really want to know how mom is doing, dial XXX-XXX-XXXX" She has decreed she will never go again. I understand why she is hurt, but I think she is over-reacting. On the other hand, did my Aunt and Uncle honestly expect me to go home the last time and tell my mom that she should go to church and pray so that she will get over her hurt and realize that she BELONGS there? What went wrong? (I know you are wondering) Mom hosted the reunion, said no alcohol and planned for lunch and dinner, with specific activities at specific times (Pinata at 3, auction at 3:30, supper at 5) and the rest of the family had a family meeting without her, announced what would happen to the reunion in the future because they had a majority so it didn't matter what Mom or another Uncle had to say. Then, they hurried things along, started the auction early and without her so that they all left before supper because they had planned to go to a picnic at another uncle's house. Yes, they wanted to go for beer, but...who said you have to stay and eat both meals there? Lot's of folks were staying at my uncle's home, rather than mom's, and they wanted to set up tents before it got dark. Can you blame them? The meeting should NOT have happened and I really dislike how they handle decisions. I have no input, because if Mom wanted something specific done, she would show up and vote for it. There are 9 sibs, 9 votes, deceased sibs can be represented by their children or their ex-wives. Living sibs have to show up to have any input. STUPID. I will get told what to go back and tell mom. Last time I said call her and they flat out said no. And, they didn't call. The more I think about it, the more I remember how upset I was at the time. Which is why the hotel is better than than lawn. I can walk away when I want. :) But, when I talk about certain people, I want my kids to know WHO they are. I want DeeDee to know how much she looks like Melly and BigBee to know he is taller than mom's brothers.

280 miles! On the interstate. In the heat, when I get car sick and stiff and sore. I may be talking myself out of this.... I'll talk to Poppa at the laundry tonight. I know what I should do, I just don't want to do the right thing....
