I started trying to feel the baby around 15 weeks by lying super still late at night for like an hour and pressing gently on my abdomen . Even with that, I felt one kick at 16 weeks, one at 17.5 weeks and one at 19 weeks. I think if I hadn't been trying so hard, I would have easily missed those first few kicks. At about 20.5 weeks, I started feeling him a lot, but still more like "movement" than actual "kicks." At 21 weeks, I started feeling straight up kicking and at 22 weeks, my husband could feel him kicking  Yes, I keep very detailed notes about such things 
Oh, and I still usually don't feel the baby if I'm walking around... I have to be lying down or sitting still before I'll notice him kicking. I don't know if that means he kicks more when I'm still or if I can only feel him when I'm still. He wakes me up every morning kicking, though

With my first I didn't feel her till 16 weeks and then not regularly till 20 or so weeks. I know I felt this one at 9 weeks and then regularly at least by 16. I don't know if it's because it's a second baby or what. By the end, though, there will be no mistaking...there is a buppli in there!!

Although it was nearly 10 years ago, I don't remember feeling my son move as much as this one. I don't remember much movement at all. I am 24 weeks along and have been feeling her since about 16 weeks but only within in the last 2-3 weeks have the kicks become strong enough that my hubby could feel them.
Don't be concerned since all babies move different amounts.

I posted in Women's Posts, but will post again here. I went to see the midwife today (13 weeks). She looked for a heartbeat with a doppler for 5 - 10 minutes...nothing... I know I shouldn't worry...but I'm worried. She ordered an ultrasound, I can get in on Friday... Anyone else have a story like this with a positive outcome?

Teaching, I don't know, but I have prayed for you.
We've set an induction date of August 28th. Had an ultrasound today, which was really cool. I've never had one past 24 weeks before. We actually saw the baby drinking amniotic fluid!

Just had that panicky "ACK! How am I going to live after the baby is born?" Like how am I going to be able to go grocery shopping if he's napping in the morning and Nadia's napping in the afternoon? How am I going to be able to take a shower? (he's a boy you know!) How am I going to be able to make supper? How am I going to be able to have any me time? How am I going to be able to put Nadia down for bed while holding a baby? I don't know if there is that much of me to share!
Please tell me others have worried about this and come through!

Yup, and I'm right there with you. Although I've gotten kind of a taste of it with Brian being "down and out". He's another person to take care of 24/7...the work of at least 2 babies, honestly. And since it's him that is also needing care, obviously he is not available to really help me with the kids. It's scary, but I'm trying not to think of the logistics too much because I know we'll get through it moment by moment. There's no other option.
One thing I have done with the older kids (Levi and up) is to set a firm bedtime. We've never had one before, but right now, for my sanity, I NEED them all in bed by 8:30 so that I can shower in peace and have a bit of time with just Brian or even...gasp...by myself.
As for you...there is enough of you to go around. I promise. It'll be an adjustment, but over time, you'll figure it out. Just don't push yourself to do too much too soon. You've got to be able to let some things go, or ask for help when you can. Are you still having the mother's helper you had mentioned? I'm sure that will be a huge help for you.

Sideways - with Jacob (my 4th!) I didn't feel him move until 21 weeks, after my 20 week ultrasound. Due to heavy bleeding for two weeks when I was 5 weeks along, I was rather nervous, even though I was really sick and huge. They said the reason I didn't feel him for so long was because my placenta was in front, blocking the kicks.

I'm 14 weeks today! Yeah! My first ultrasound's tomorrow! Yahoo (hoping all goes well!)
I'm wondering if this is normal. I'm pregnant with my first and lately whenever I sneeze or cough I feel like my abdomen is ripping. Is this normal? It's not painful any other time really (unless I've been doing laundry and I'm bending and moving stuff a lot). Is this just my body adjusting to growing a baby?

Kathryn, I have yet to experience two children at one time but I am positive you will figure it out. God will grace you with the knowledge of how to handle it all.
How early do Braxton Hicks contractions start coming? I don't remember them when I was pregnant with my son (although that WAS 10 years ago). I am 24 weeks along and have been feeling them for at least the last week on a daily basis (3-4 a day or more). Is this normal?

Andrew does put Nadia down most of the time, but he has church on sunday nights and wednesday nights. So I will have to do it then. I suppose I could just do it 'babe-in-arms'. She's practically do it yourselfer anyway now. I'd figure something out. And I know God will show me, I was just panicking. But this is good, keep the 'been there done that' comments coming. I need to know it's normal!

This will pass. My first two were only 11 months apart. Right before we left for the hospital for the second birth, I remember standing over my daughters crib and thinking "What were we thinking." Well, to be honest, we really weren't thinking, but that's probably another post.
Three days after I delivered my 4th child (all w/in 5 years), I put them in the car to go Christmas shopping. It's amazing what you can do w/ one arm while nursing the baby. Make dinner, potty train, homeschool, play catch. Don't worry - it will kick in and you will survive.
The one thing that helped me is that all my kids were on a schedule and I stuck w/ it. Both babies napped at the same time, I arranged the nursing around dinner, etc.. That way I knew when I would have time to go out by myself, time to take a shower, play with the other ones, etc....With Baby #5 on the way, we will definitely be sticking to our schedule.

See this is part of what I am worried about. Please tell me you had to work at getting them all to nap at the same time. I mean it's something that you gradually work into, right? It doesn't just happen over night, right? I know this time I will be more mobile while nursing, at least I hope so. I was pretty stationary with Nadia when I nursed. I was so huge I was afraid I'd suffocate her. Won't know that until my milk comes in with this child.

It definitely is hard to nurse while standing when you are big and drippy; but after a month or two it should be much easier.
I don't post much about this because I've read enough on this thread to know that it is not the popular view point, but I would strongly suggest reading the book Baby Wise. We followed that as a guide, but did not use that as final law. You HAVE to be flexible. As a first time mom, it was very helpful to me in understanding what was possible. All of my children slept through the night between 6-8 weeks, and I don't think luck had anything to do with it. From about the time they are 6-7 days old, I put them on a feeding schedule. My son was actually on one from day 2 because they basically followed the same principles in the NICU. They nurse every 2-3 hours, depending on the age; which I gradually increase to about every 4 by the time they are 4-5 months old. They are not getting less, they just take in more at every feeding. All of my kids weighed 18 lbs. by 6 months, so they were very well fed. Eating time would be followed by wake time (sometimes the hardest time to keep), followed by nap time. Then, I would wake them up again at the 3 hour mark to feed. Pretty soon they were waking themselves up. If they were going through a growth spurt, then we might go to 2 1/2 hours. I didn't nurse them every time they cried, because not every cry is a hungry cry. What often happens is that babies will fall asleep while nursing/eating without getting a complete meal. Then they go into the routine of snacking/cat napping and nobody is happy. A typical schedule for my 2-3 month old would be nursing at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm and then maybe a top-off at 11pm - then in bed for the night. That way I knew that if they had a full feeding, I had two hours to go shopping, do cleaning, take a nap myself, etc.
