I met an American here in Canada once who told me that Canada was "too British" and how everyone here asks you all sorts of questions about your life and how you just don't do that in America. Total opposite of what I've ever heard. Mind you she was so "outspoken" (she was rude) it took everything I had to keep my mouth shut and not tell her maybe it was time for her to go back to the US.
Aga - last night I was at the Royal Winter Agricultural Fair (www.royalfair.org) and I attended The Royal Horse Show. We ended up seeing a few different competitions. I was really impressed by the Coaching. There was one coach that was built in London in the 1860's. Anyway, the most impressive part was at the end they had International Show Jumping which turned out to be a World Cup Qualifying competition. Ended up seeing a lot of the Olympic medallists compete. It was quite the competition, I'm so glad I got to see horse jumping in competition (I mention this because I remember you being very interested in the Olympic equestrian.)
I also stopped by "The Wee Tartan Shoppe" and picked up a Coronation Street mug and stocked up on more British chocolate (a British friend recently sent me some tea and chocolate....is it sad that I save that stuff especially for when I watch Coronation Street, and will now drink tea only from my Coronation Street mug? Tell me that's not sad Manda!)

m4maggie - The store had a booth at the Royal, so I got it from them, but they have two stores - one in Port Perry and one in Bobcaygeon (I'm not sure where you are.) Though you can order them online from the CBC store. I told my husband that I was going to buy him a t-shirt that said "Real Men Watch Coronation Street" and he asked me why I didn't, that he would actually wear it. Silly man.
I too would like to go to Manchester and tour the set, but I heard they don't do that anymore. Right now CBC and Quality Street have a contest to win a trip and tour of the set. I think you can find out the details at CBC (you have to buy a Quality Street product then watch the show for the clue. I have about 12 episodes of Corrie on my PVR so I haven't seen the clue yet or how it works.)
There's some Canadian chick on Facebook who travels there often, hangs out outside the studio and gets her picture taken with all the stars as they are leaving. Some of the photos are funny though because they are of the stars driving off the set in their cars and she's posed up next to the passenger side. But all of the stars seemed very accommodating about it.
ETA...if you live in the Toronto area, there is a British Isles shop at the Pickering Flea Market. They have Corrie stuff there as well.

I bought a few Cadbury Flakes. Mmm....
It's not all that common here. I read that it was introduced here in 2008, but that can't be right because when my university roommate first introduced me to Corrie, we would go down to the tuck shop in our apartment building, each buy a Flake and then eat it while we watched. And this was back around 2001. Maybe it disappeared and then came back. Either way, I still don't really see it at convenience stores so it was nice to pick some up. I'm really going to have to start searching for British shops here in Toronto.

Yes, it's sold with the canned meats --deviled ham, Spam, Vienna sausages area. Look for a can that is sort of shaped like a Spam can. One brand is Libby's. But, be forewarned, it's so different from the sliced corned beef in the deli.

I went to the library and took out "Coronation Street The Complete Saga" (it was The Epic Novel over there.) I figured it's about time I fully figured out the history of everyone on the show, I was trying to explain Deirdre's and Ken's relationship to my husband and got myself all confused. I didn't realize it was in story form though.
