Welcome Coffee Drinker!

*Cleans out coffee pot (with air chisel) and puts on a fresh pot.*

Half an inch or an inch or so of elevation change isn't much. If it was a lot more than that, it might be because of settling of the bed below the concrete. There are companies that will fix that without completely tearing out the driveway and starting over, but it sounds like you don't need that because the cracks are fairly minor.

First, I'd get rid of the weeds. Take a weed whacker and clean out the cracks as best you can. Then I'd even blow them out with compressed air if possible. You gotta have a clean crack.

Just mixing up some ready mix cement and filling the crack with that is just going to crack and break up rather quickly.

I'd use the driveway concrete filler. Last time I used some, it was in a caulking tube. The stuff is very thick though, so be prepared to do a lot of squeezing on the caulking gun.

Finally got the travel trailer all fixed. New A/C fan motor was an entertaining project. It was a kit including the new motor, new fan blades (one at each end of the motor) and a new capacitor.

It even came with instructions. Of course, the instructions show installations that look nothing like what I have.

But we finally figured it out and the new motor runs great. No vibrations.

The leak is fixed too. The local RV dealer recommeded re-sealing the whole end of the rubber roof at the front of the trailer. I scraped off all of the old sealant. He gave me a piece of specialty adhesive tape eight feet long and about six inches wide and a tube a sealant to go around the edges of the tape with.

Even with two of us trying to install the tape on a relatively calm day, it still proved problematic. We had to remove the backing off of the adhesive, and of course it would not cooperate. The backing kept tearing apart instead of coming off in one piece. While wrestling with that, the tape had become stuck to itself.

The tape is expenisive and we have no extra.

After much pulling and coersion, we finally got it unstuck and were able to install it. Thankfully it turned out well. And we had a good heavy rain that verified no leaks, so all is good.

I've had my share of fun this week Ray. Me and 3 of my helper guys graded our lawn, installed a sprinkler system, and laid 16 pallets of sod. I've never hurt so much in my life trying to get that much sod down before it dried out! However, the timing was perfect. We've had 3 days of that soft misty kind of rain, and the sod greened up and is taking root.

Thought I was doing good today... until I received a call that someone stole the copper pipe out from under one of our rental houses. At least they had the courtesy to turn the emergency disconnect to Off. Weird daze out there, I'm done with this rental mess... if only I could unload them without losing all of my investment. I'm tired of dealing with looser renters, theft, and arguing over deposit checks when there are a ton of holes in my walls. Renters rent for a reason... they are loosers!!!

Sounds like you have been having fun.

Haven't laid sod in a lot of years. That's a lot of w***.

I work for a large electric utility company. The last few years, metal prices have gone through the roof. They've had a real problem with people stealing power lines for the copper. Poeple get killed doing that. Wouldn't want to show up at the pearly gates, having died trying to steal something.

Have seen some power line thefts in our area too... that's just too stupid for words!
Ah well, doing a little better today. Still covered up with deadlines, but I'm taking Fryday off to get ready for the holidays. This has been one of our biggest months... worked from dark to dark everyday, gots a big paycheck, and I need a break! If my cell phone rings, it's going straight to voice mail. Gotta have a little time off.

My Brother-in-law used to work for a scrap yard. It wasn't unusual for the Sheriff to come around and alert them of stolen copper. On new home development sites, thieves would go into a home and steal the copper plumbing. It's crazy.

Anyway, at the scrap yard... they would eventually show up with the goods, the sheriff or police would be called and the culprits would be arrested.

They even lost a couple of folks that worked at the yard for stealing grounding lines off railroad tracks.

Yeah, but it wasn't an active job site. I've caught guys stealing from me before, but it's because they weren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. We've been finished with that house for a while, so it wasn't one of my subs and I'll never know who. It's gone, I'll be replacing the supply lines with CPVC, and getting the water on after the holidaze. Thankfully the damage is not too bad. We have had houses in the past where they even pulled the wire out of the walls. Now that is an expensive and time consuming repair. This is my last house in that area, and I hope to sell or rent it very soon. If someone walked up with $65,000 cash, I'd hand them the deed and be very happy to take the loss!

Around here there's plenty of abandoned buildings, so they're the prime target. For a while, somebody was actually stealing man-hole covers. Now that's dangerous for the next guy that comes along.

I guess summer is officially over. The lake is being drawn down, the water temp is going down (makes for a chilly dip in the water at the end of the day ) and we were having so much fun! I could use another month or 2, we have enjoyed our first summer in our new lake home.

Glad that you have enjoyed it. Praise God for what you have is a blessing.

So, we're back from vacation. However the to-do list didn't take a vacation. Instead the garage is full of things that represent completed tasks (except for the cleanup). And everything else seems to take a priority.

There's a praise band to keep organized. The lawn always seems to need mowed. The bushes are a fright. And I still need to pull the motor on the boat.

Plus the house has about two inches of dust. Our dogs shed so much that you just can't keep up with it. And my folks are coming for a visit sometime.

Last night I had to make a presentation at the council meeting about a food pantry that's opening up.

Tonight we go for groceries. Then a friend needs some help with wiring in a remodeling project.

Yeah I understand... if you want to get really busy, plan a vacation and "try" to take some time off.

Yep that's about it.

Tonight we're going to the Christian book store to get the materials to put on the Love Dare Challenge bible study. It's based on the move Fireproof. We'll be doing that sometime this fall and it looks like I might be in charge of it.

Tomorrow night...band practice.

I wish you lived near me. Even though I am single, I still want to run through that sometime. I think it would be a great thing to go through as a form of marriage prep.

Well, I don't have the materials yet, but the description says "---a marriage-centered Bible study experience for individuals and couples".

And I would think that it would be good for anyone who is married, engaged or wants to be. Even kids in their teens would benefit from it IMHO.

Have you seen the movie?

Oh yes, my sister owns it and I have borrowed it a few times. It's one of the reasons I want to check out the book itself (to see everything the movie left out) and the reason I want to try out the study.

I'm looking forward to reviewing the material and seeing what all it entails. Hopefully there will be interest in it at church.

I got a little irritated earlier with several inferences posted about men in general in the Marriage forum. I didn't appreciate how a few of these ladies seemed to be categorizing men into lustful porn-mongers (that's the impression I got). Well, I made my point(s) and was, as I expected, became the food in a feeding frenzy amongst a whole lot of irate women.

I'm not asking ya'll to read it but, what I am asking, is - if you do: was I too harsh or presumptuous in my statements?

I'm thinking I should have just left it alone and let them have their slam-fest.

Coffee man, I don't have time to read that whole string, but there are some on the forums who are looking for a fight. Water off a ducks back, let it roll off. With all girls in my household, there are times when I sleek off to my little corner of the world or disappear for a fishing trip to not emerge until after all the chocolate has been consumed and the moods improved.

Appreciate the input.

I think I'll just stay out of that sub forum for awhile - especially when that topic comes up.

I had two daughter too. Both are grown and gone now but I do recall several times when I bowed out to the garage (no pun intended).

Sometimes the garage is a good thing.

Yes, I think you could have been much more tactful in your responses. It seemed as if all that you were accomplishing was to add fuel to the flames. Had you been more tactful, that may have helped you get your point across. Once antagonized, people are less likely to listen with an open mind.

Many years ago, I had a conversation with Fritz (Fritzpw_Admin, the forums administrator). His recommendations about whether or not to get involved in heated discussions in the forums was: "Do not engage." And that advice has served me well over the years. I tend to stay away from hot debates, and am loathe to throw in two cents where I feel it would be a lost cause. And I am much happier that way.

And you're always welcome here in the garage.

I read that thread also... Obviously it is a sensitive topic for them but I did not get the impression that they were zinging men in general. So, IMHO, you were presumptuous in taking it that way.

Everybody gets a turn at being the "bad guy" in here. Don't sweat it.

That is very good advice I must say myself!
