You did good. Usually there are 2-3 people that just walk out anywhere from 15 -30 minutes in.

Cant help ya with the soreness though.

Well, so far my legs feel fine. They were a bit tired last night, but I don't have any soreness. My neck muscles are sore--I'm sure I was too tense during class. I don't like that all the seats are perfectly level. I keep the seat on my bike barely pointed up, maybe a 10 degree angle. I like it that way.

I'll run tonight and see if my legs hold up.

I ran 3 miles today. The first 2 miles I had a pretty good pace going too. Unfortunately, by the last mile the combination of the heat and the small breakfast I had started to really bother me. I finished but my final time wasn't what I was hoping for...

Man...I had such a good idea today--to run at noon when I got off work instead of late in the evening. I thought that was a good idea because 1) it was only 82 degrees and 2) with the sun high, there was actually a lot more shade from all the trees on my route. Well! I got a mile in and didn't think I'd be able to go any further. I did another mile anyway before I pooped out. I got home and turned on the news and saw that the humidity is 60%. No wonder I was feeling yuck. I CANNOT WAIT FOR FALL! We're supposed to have humidity higher than that all weekend!

I can't wait for fall either. I hate the heat. It makes everything feel twice as hard...

We have cooler temps here! It's been in the 50's early in the mornings. I don't think it got out of the 70's today. Temps for my race tomorrow look perfect--mid 60's at the start, low 70's at the finish. Last year it was in the high 70's at the start. And it's a 7am start!

Yah, it was in the low 70's when I left the house at 6:00. The race was delayed until 7:20. Not a clue on the temp, but it was getting quite warm. And it was muggy!

My race didn't go as well as I had hoped. I did run a good race, just didn't turn in the numbers I wanted. Unofficial 1:54. So, I didn't break 1:50 like I had hoped and my 1:52 PR still stands.

I came home and found that the church next door was having a work day. So I showered and went over and helped. I hauled all sorts of brush/yard waste. They're not done, but I told them that I was!

Great job! Even if you didn't beat your PR, you were very close and that's something to be proud of!

I ran a slow 2.5 miles today (it was hot already ) on a slightly different route. The only bummer is that there is one somewhat busy street I have to cross (twice - once each direction). There's a crosswalk but getting people to actually stop is another story. I don't like having to stop during my runs, but I still liked the new route. I mapped out the 2 mile, 2.5 mile and 3 mile marks so I can run it no matter what distance I want to go.

Good job, HC!

My husband and I did a six-mile hike this morning, the last quarter mile of which was vertical. Wasn't expecting that! We were sandy and sweaty and hungry when we got done...but now I'm clean and full and I don't know if I'll feel like doing my run later. ha ha I might just need to nap.

Argh! I always have the hardest time finding the 5k training plan I used a few years ago at runnersworld.com. Also can never remember the name of the man who devised it... It's a 10- or 12-week run/walk program. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It was a modified version of the Couch to 5K plan that got me started last year, so I highly recommend it.

Saturday's schedule called for a 2.5 mile run, so I went over to the cemetery and ran my main loop twice (1.76 mi.), and then my secondary one for 0.74 miles. I felt pretty good after this one, although I walked more than last week. Part of that was by design; the Jeff Galloway program that I'm using recommends taking frequent walk breaks, but the other reason was due to the humidity that was bearing down on me already . . . and it was only 11:00am. After I finished the run, I made a huge mistake: Mom's grass needed mowing, so I went straight over from the cemetery to her place and got the mower going. By the time that I was through . . . I was through! After a good night's sleep, though, yesterday wasn't too bad.

I hear ya, Duane. The humidity here lately is making me want to crawl my route...it's oppressive.

I never made it out to run last night. I was just dead after hiking and climbing. My legs feel a bit better this morning, though. And I'm stoked because it appears I really engaged my hamstrings yesterday--something I'm terribly lazy about. I got two bug bites, though. A little one on my ankle and a big yucky one by my knee. I think that one came from a horse fly. BUT! We saw the coolest green and blue lizard!!! I'll post a picture as soon as I get them off my camera. I kind of forgot about it last night.

I have a mile race this Saturday.

And that's all.

What did I ever do to you??

Now I'm surely going to have to run a 5K this year. I've been trying to obfuscate and block all the running sites on our home connection, then you go ahead and link them for her?? Why do you hate me?

If I become overly fit, the other System Administrators won't associate with me. I've already nearly ostracized myself in the data-lab by shaving my goatee off and saying no to the morning donuts.

They'll all be jealous eventually. Are you gonna let them bring you down?!!

But see, that's precisely why you should run. Then you can HAVE the donuts!

My guess is some kind of iguana but I have no idea. He's just gorgeous!

Today was my day off from running/working out. Which is good because I loved those few extra minutes in bed this morning! Yawn!
