You did good. Usually there are 2-3 people that just walk out anywhere from 15 -30 minutes in. Cant help ya with the soreness though.

We have cooler temps here! It's been in the 50's early in the mornings. I don't think it got out of the 70's today. Temps for my race tomorrow look perfect--mid 60's at the start, low 70's at the finish. Last year it was in the high 70's at the start. And it's a 7am start!

Yah, it was in the low 70's when I left the house at 6:00. The race was delayed until 7:20. Not a clue on the temp, but it was getting quite warm. And it was muggy! My race didn't go as well as I had hoped. I did run a good race, just didn't turn in the numbers I wanted. Unofficial 1:54. So, I didn't break 1:50 like I had hoped and my 1:52 PR still stands. I came home and found that the church next door was having a work day. So I showered and went over and helped. I hauled all sorts of brush/yard waste. They're not done, but I told them that I was!

Argh! I always have the hardest time finding the 5k training plan I used a few years ago at runnersworld.com. Also can never remember the name of the man who devised it... It's a 10- or 12-week run/walk program. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It was a modified version of the Couch to 5K plan that got me started last year, so I highly recommend it. Saturday's schedule called for a 2.5 mile run, so I went over to the cemetery and ran my main loop twice (1.76 mi.), and then my secondary one for 0.74 miles. I felt pretty good after this one, although I walked more than last week. Part of that was by design; the Jeff Galloway program that I'm using recommends taking frequent walk breaks, but the other reason was due to the humidity that was bearing down on me already . . . and it was only 11:00am. After I finished the run, I made a huge mistake: Mom's grass needed mowing, so I went straight over from the cemetery to her place and got the mower going. By the time that I was through . . . I was through! After a good night's sleep, though, yesterday wasn't too bad. Duane
