Yesterday was an interesting BS day.

A normal range for BS is supposedly 70-120, with 100 being ideal.

Before the evening meal, my BS was 151...a little high. That's farily unusual because it's been below 120 for the most part. The only thing that I had eaten that might have kicked it up a little was some 'honey roasted' peanuts earlier in the day. Didn't think that I'd eaten that many, though obviously the 'honey roasted' is extra carbs on the peanuts.

151 is right on the verge of having to take an insulin shot. Instead of doing that, I decided to only have two carbs for supper. Following that, we went out for groceries, which does involve walking and hauling groceries and would tend to burn off some BS.

Before we were finished with grocery shopping, I started feeling somewhat unwell. But then I still have the after-effects of a cold so it didn't seem too unusual. At home, I felt hungry and started watching the clock for the next feeding time.

DD#1 had called with car troubles. Tooshy was going to go pick her up. I decided to stay home, which is unusual for me. Normally I'd want to go see if I can fix it. She called back soon and said that her car had started, so it became a mute point.

Bedtime came and it was time for another reading. This time the BS was 78. That I think is the lowest number I've ever seen. From experience I know that whenever it drops below about 85 I start to have problems. The BS dropped by 73 points in a matter of hours.

Good move!

Ray, when you said about feeling out of sorts, I wondered if your blood sugars were down.

Here, we have a different numbers system. Good numbers are 3.5-7. Anything below 3.5 you have to be very careful of. Usually 5 is ideal. At night after dinner, they don't like you going over 9. After I had gastric surgery, I asked the registrar if I still needed to take diabetic meds. He said yes. The morning after I came home from the hospital, I was a mess! I was screaming that if they didn't take the device out NOW, I was going to do it myself. I was absolutely psycho! John got me to check my blood sugars even though I was on fluids. Mine were 1.8! If doctors had known that, I would have been back in hospital in a huge hurry!

LOL! Poor Freddy!
Been thinking of him. I have a friend with a brain tumour and it and her medication have done some horrible things to her.

Trish, we have the same numbering system for blood sugar. Wish everyone used the same system. Ray, it's a good thing you didn't go into a diabetic coma! (You too, Trish, in the story you told.)

Yep, wish everybody had the same numbering system as ours.

Gotta go and feed Bailey. I'll be back later.

How are you doing today, Ray?

Is Q back to normal colour yet?

I'm doing well. Still slowly getting over this very persistent cold...day 14. Feeling better but still have some minor chest congestion. I think I'll live.

Q is still pink, though the outermost coat is becoming more and more white. The underlying coat is still pink. It supposedly washes out with only a few baths, but the perp's haven't come back to do that yet.

.... weird BS days are freaky.

If I know I've eaten too many carbs, sugar, etc.... I will purposely drink more water and try to exercise a little.... it helps me...

.... and my goodness... what a crash!

I'm glad you are keeping a close eye on your BS, Ray....

(this whole BS conversation is just cracking me up.... it just looks bad!)

Yes, it's bad when the BS drops out the bottom.
