ORIGINAL: Stephanos quote:
ORIGINAL: ccoppenbarger For your information, it has nothing to do with the Jews religion. It has to do with the Israeli occupation. Isn't it nice to know that someone in another part of the world probably thinks of you and me as pieces of garbage too? I was not aware that we were to think of them the same way. I wonder if Jesus would have thought of them as a piece of garbage. So in your mind are these homicide bombings and rocket launchings justified and perfectly fine because of occupation? No. But it should at least show why they do what they do. Btw, while we're on the subject of suicide bombings, how many have there been in Israel in the past year or two years? quote:
And I think Jesus would hate murders BTW...Anyone that does not believe in Him is going to hell. Thus anyone who dies in murdering someone and believes they are doing it for the glory of Islam, IS GOING TO ROT IN HELL! And frankly good riddance. Wow! I cannot honestly believe that someone who calls themself a Christian actually desires someone to go to Hell. Sure, I believe they are going to Hell if they do these acts of violence, but to say good riddance at their eternal death? You're actually happy that they're going to Hell? Wow! That is truly sad.

Then why are we harping on it like it's happening every minute of every day. From what I can tell, it's all but stopped. The rocket attacks had slowed down a lot over the last year, until recently.

How recent is that? Since the first of the year? Since the truce was supposed to be in effect? Since the pullout of Gaza? Before that? Since that? Define "recent" please.

Then why are we harping on it like it's happening every minute of every day. From what I can tell, it's all but stopped. Today, I got into a lengthy conversation with a coworker about Israel\Palestine. A lot of it hinged around him wanting to know who I thought was being aggressive and who was being peaceful today. His emphasis on what is happening today was supposed to sweep Israel's responsibility for some of the events over the last 75 years under the rug or something, since "clearly" Israel is only focused on peace today while the Palestinians are clearly the aggressors. In the midst of that conversation, he talked about how Palestinians are "constantly" engaging in suicide bombings in Israel; it's something that happens almost "daily;" how can Israel reach peace with a people who are "always" willing to suicide bomb? He couldn't believe me when I tried telling him they are not that common; it's far more difficult to recruit suicide bombers and get it done then people think. Yet, there seems to be a fair number of people who honestly believe it happens all the time. Why are we willing to believe that when it's not even true?

US-Israeli Group Aims to Shelter Rocket-Plagued Israeli Towns Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - A private Israeli-American non-governmental organization has stepped in to help provide portable bomb shelters for residents of the rocket-beleaguered southern Israeli town of Sderot and other communities to resolve a desperate shortage in shelters and hopefully help save lives. Sderot and other Israeli communities situated near the Gaza Strip have been struck by more than 1,570 Kassam rockets since 2001, more than 130 of them since last Tuesday. Nine people have been killed, including Shirel Friedman, 32, on Monday night in Sderot. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who visited the town earlier this week, said that there was neither an "immediate" nor an "absolute" solution to the kassam rocket attacks. http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewForeignBureaus.asp?Page=/ForeignBureaus/archive/200705/INT20070525c.html

Israel Preparing Civilians for Possibility of 'All-Out War' Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Israel's Home Front Command plans to launch a publicity campaign within a few weeks to prepare Israeli civilians for the possibility of full-scale war, the Jerusalem Post reported on Thursday. "Our job is to prepare for an all-out war," Col. Hilik Sofer, head of the Home Front Command Population Division was quoted as saying. According to the report, the ad campaign is not related to a specific event or threat but is intended to "brace the public for war in general." http://www.cnsnews.com/ThisHour.asp#Group Wants Border Patrol Agent Protection in Immigration Reform Bill

Sounds familiar to what the Bush Administration did before going to Iraq. This means that Israel is going to war to further occupy the lands of Gaza and the West Bank.

Why stop there? Let's have them go into all the earth and occupy it! Oh my. I'm sorry. In my sarcasm there I didn't realize I sounded like a Nazi or something...

The Days Before the Six Days quote:
With the approach of the 40th anniversary of a short but momentous war that changed the face of the Middle East, brace yourself for a barrage of propaganda and revisionism. Prepare for reports and commentary focusing on the themes of upheaval, dispossession, refugees and, naturally, four decades of brutal Israeli occupation. Less common will be accounts of what led up to the Mideast war of June 1967, when Israel for six days fought the combined militaries of Egypt, Syria and Jordan, supported by personnel from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Algeria and Kuwait. By the time the gunfire subsided, Israel had seized the Golan Heights from Syria; the "West Bank" from Jordan; and the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula from Egypt . The result of the war, of course, is what the United Nations calls the Occupied Territories. The conventional wisdom parroted by pundits and politicians is that if only that pesky little Jewish state would hand back the land it captured in 1967, the Arab-Islamic world would accept Israel. The fringe goes further, envisaging the emergence of a "new Middle East" of love and brotherhood. And pigs might fly.

that kinda reminds me: since the elections for the Knesset is coming up, will there still be a Kadima party anymore, given Olmert's beyond-atrocious approval ratings? Word has it that Ehud Barak and even Benjamin Netanyahu are up for reelection! I don't think it's that common--at least stateside--to have a past leader back for a second, or even third term after being ousted!

From what I'm hearing from people I know, Kadima isn't really expected to be much of a factor in this election... they're expected to poll higher than most of the secondary parties, but not high enough to be a contender for forming a new government. Common wisdom seems to be that Likud will "win" with a percentage that will require them to either form a unity government with Labor or try to put together a coalition government with Kadima and some of the smaller conservative parties. That'll probably make Netanyahu the new PM. It's not all that unusual in a parliamentary democracy for a PM to serve more than once at different times.

Iran Leader: Israel's Destruction Soon Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday said the world would witness the destruction of Israel soon, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported. Ahmadinejad said last summer's war between Israel and Hezbollah showed for the first time that the "hegemony of the occupier regime [Israel] had collapsed, and the Lebanese nation pushed the button to begin counting the days until the destruction of the Zionist regime," IRNA quoted him as saying. "God willing, in the near future we will witness the destruction of the corrupt occupier regime," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying during a speech to foreign guests who attended ceremonies marking the 18th anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who is known as the father of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/6/3/215459.shtml?s=ic

With all the issues facing Olmert, it appears it could be a self-destruction.

Or is it only in vogue to point out the military aggression of Islam and neglect the atrocities committed by the Christian crusaders?

The Christian Crusaders is ancient history, radical Islam is an international threat and a threat to our own country, troops and citizens-today-this minute.
