String buzz on both acoustic and electric guitars can be due to a number of factors. It could be that the action at the bridge (string height) is too low or that the neck needs some adjsutment (relief), or maybe the nut is not properly cut. Unless the neck just happens to be deffective, you can solve pretty much all of these problems. Also, if you chang your string gauge (eg. switching from 9's to 11's) or adjust your trem from floating to flush, you will almost certainly need to adjsut your set up.
So how would I adjust it? I'm still getting used to getting to know electric guitars... I didn't know how different they were...
Oh, and what about this amp? The Alesis Quadraverb Q2?

Seriously, get a friend who knows what he (or she)'s doing to check it out.
It depends on the guitar - most modern electrics have individual bridge adjusters for each string that require an allenkey to manipulate, if that's the issue. The neck is very tricky, and if you do it wrong at worst you can permanently damage it. And some necks are beyond help, they're bowed or twisted and need canning. To really do a neck and intonation adjustment you need proper tools and experience.
A good guitar will come properly set-up from the factory (mine did), but a cheap one probably won't. I've known cheap Kramers be nearly a semi-tone out at the 12th fret, for example.
If the problem is the nut, it needs filing down. Again, phone a friend.
Having said that, someone like Jeff Beck has his action ridiculously high, so his guitars are almost unplayable for anyone else. But that's why he's a genius.
I thought the Quadraverb was a digital effects processor, not an amp. Or does it have an amp simulator?
Have a look at this: Fender Amp see what you think. Used it for years before upgrading to my current rig. Can go very loud, nice smooth overdrive, and a built-in chorus (if you care).

Listen to drnick - do not try to adjust a neck yourself. Do not go sawing, filing, twisting, or turning anything (except tuning keys, of course) until you know what you are doing. I have been playing for 23 years now and I still take my guitars to someone who works on them regularly to do a lot of the work I have done. I change my strings, adjust pickups, and solder a few wires but that is about it - well, I changed the nut on one of my guitars about a year ago.
When you don't have much to spend on buying a guitar, you have even less to pay someone to fix what you messed up. I'm not rying to be a jerk, just tell you what I learned the hard way.

Be aware that the seller is misinformed. It's not a 125 watt amp. That's the power consumption rating or how much wattage it uses to turn-on and run. The manual actually states it at 145 watts but who's counting?
No, it's a 2 x 25 watt amp; 2 independant 25 watt power amplifier circuits. For a solid state amp, that's not very loud at all but might be acceptable in small rooms or when mic'd through a PA system.

No, not mine (I live in the UK!).
But I had one for several years, and never turned the volume above 2, it was pretty loud.
The chorus is basic, but sounds OK.
Essentially I think it's a decent solid state combo with a reasonable overdrive (rock, not metal), not too heavy. And I've always like the Fender clean sound.
And yes, it's 2x25w. 2x10" speakers.
Nowadays I use a Boss GT-3 multieffects floor unit as a pre-amp, through a Marshall 8008 poweramp, and a Marshall 1936 2x12 speaker cab. I like the versatility, and I don't do enough gigging to go chasing after "the" tone - or I'd probably be using a Boogie, or maybe an Engl.

So, any joy getting an amp?
Here's a question: how many people get to play lead guitar during Worship at church?
There's a song we've recently started doing: Wonderful Saviour, which has a F#m - D - A - E link from chorus to next verse (and the verse), which is great to solo over.
Next time I'll add a bit of rock, stuck to bluesy stuff last week.

I play lead now (finding I'm a LOT better at it than rhythm -- yay long fingers!), but not at church. I'm the youth's only female singer and I get all off balance trying to sing and riff at the same time... And our Sunday guitarist is better than I could ever hope to be.
