The Chord Structure is correct, playing both the A and the D on the second Fret, but only play the EADG strings. Your buddy is probably busting your chops, because he is a bass player and you are taking his space. Remember dynamics..... If the song calls for the open Em chord, then by all means, go there. But if it doesn't, then find where you need to go. Use other forms of the chord . Listen to what the song needs. You are there for the song, not the other way around.

Welll i know that one way to play Iron Man is
2 5..5 7...7 10/9 10/9 10/9 5..5 7..7 on the A string.
I'm iron man, dun dun dundunadun. "Has he lost his mind,can he see or is he blind,can he walk at all or if he moves wil he fall,oops! forgot the rest"
and i'm waiting and saving up money to get a Fender American Deluxe Strat to replace my sucky frist act.

I think you're supposed to play 5th's (i.e. 2-note power chords) for Iron Man, not just single notes.

Months after asking the question, I'm still struggling, so I'll try again:
Can anyone suggest a decent valve amp head to try?
My criteria:
-Around 50w - I need to be able to use it in Church without deafening the band
-effects loop
-at least 3 voicings (clean, crunch, lead) capable of just about reaching into metal teritory - I like my pinch harmonics, squeals and stuff.
I've tried quite a few, and all lack something:
Marshall DSL50 sounds pretty good, but you have to use buttons on the amp to change gain stages, not the foot pedal.
ENGL Screamer50 sounds very nice - except the crunch sound, which is weak. It has my ideal set-up, apart from having shared EQ.
Laney TT50 is OK, but buzzy.
Orange 30 doesn't have enough gain (and I refuse to use the same brand as Noel Gallagher...)
and many brands don't make lower wattage amps.
I gather Splawn make good stuff, but not tried it.
And not tried a Mesa either.
H&K don't do anything under 100w as a head (got a Marshall 2x12 cab and I'm keeping it).
HELP!!!

Regarding wattage - the difference between 50w and 100w is fairly small - with all else being equal (speakers, settings, etc), there will only be a difference in output level of 3dB. If you're really having a hard time finding a low-wattage head that you like, find any head that you like, regardless of wattage and get a power attenuator (e.g. THD HotPlate) to go along with it.

I don't know the size of your church, the design of your sound system nor the level of sound which comes off of your stage when you play but I still have to raise an eyebrow when you say that you're seeking a 50 watt tube amp for use in church.
In most situations a 30 watt tube head is fine and in some, like mine, a 15 watt class A tube head is more than enough.
I run the amp clean and use a custom-made TS808 and a Bixonic Expandora II to get two very different levels of overdrive and distortion, respectively.
Yet I digress...
I don't know of one amp that does 3 distinctly different sounds and does them all well. There will always be some kind of compromise due to circuit design limitations in trying to be many things to one person.
That said, the new Line 6 Spider Valve might be worth checking out it you have not already. I've spent only limited time with one but I was impressed with the body of the tone when compared to other Line 6 amps and I've tried everything from vintage Flextones to DuoVerbs, Vettas and Spider I, II, and III (I own a Spider II 112). The Spider Valve is still a bit bright or can be adjusted to be bright (too bright imho) but a counter-clockwise turn of the treble control and saving the patch will correct that.
It's a hybrid Bogner/Line 6 combo that is worth a look, imho. It might be the self-contained 3 voice deal that you're looking for.

If that's the only thing stopping you from getting a DSL50, you could get it modded after the fact. Assuming it's a simple analog switch and not some sort of digitally controlled analog thing, it should be pretty easy to do (easy enough that even I could do it). With labor and parts, I really doubt you'd be looking at more than $150.

My acoustic goes into a DI box and then straight into the sound system mixer. If I do use an amp on my electric, I turn off the speaker and use the output which goes through the DI box and into the sound system mixer. The only guitar in the band that actually uses an amp speaker is the bass guitar. It goes into the DI box, and then goes two directions...one to the amp and the other to the sound system mixer.

As far as I can work out, the wattage is a fairly arbitrary way of judging volume.
The DSL50 was quite linear in it's volume, the ENGL Screamer less so.
The Cornford MK50 blows the roof off.
I'm not a fan of the Line 6 tone generally. The one with the Bogner poweramp is an improvement, but I preferred the tone of several pure valve amps. Similarly the H&K Switchblade.
I had wondered about getting a Hot Plate, just wasn't sure how much tone you lose.
On paper the Screamer is almost perfect: 2 channels, each with low and high gain options, and 2 master volumes to use for lead boost.
If only the crunch sound was better...
And then there's the Elmwood Modena60, which is like the screamer, but with 2 sets of tone controls, and a power reduction switch down to 30W. Shame about the price.
I probably need to get a life!

Ok, it seems I may be in the market for a new amp, too. Actually, I'm in the market for a new guitar - something Gibson-ish, and I need to fund that purchase with the sale of something else. I'm sitting on probably $1700 worth of guitar amp that I barely use, so I'm thinking of unloading that and using about ~$700-800 (or less) for a new, smaller amp. Ideally, it would be a small tube combo (though a smaller head would be ok, too) w/ good cleans and able to get a nice warm fuzzy jazz tone. I'm also a big fan of that cleaner bluesy Strat bridge pickup sound. Occasionally, a nice rockin' lead tone would be nice, but since I mostly play in my bedroom, perfect tone is not necessary. Master volume is a must.
Any ideas?

Right, heads up folks:
I've gone and ordered an Elmwood Modena 60 head.
Small Swedish manufacturer, only a few models, but what a sound!!!
2 channel amp, each with 2 gain stages so clean, crunch, high gain, silly high gain.
2 independant master volumes so you can have a rhythm and a lead setting for each gain stage if you want, or you can set it so when you boost the gain you also change master volumes simultaneously.
Series to parallel FX loop with mix control.
60w, but you can switch to 30w triode, so you get a more "vintage" sound.
At full gain you've got at least the same amount of gain (perhaps slightly more) as a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier, but far nicer tone.
Basically it's gorgeous. And sounds good at low volumes whichever power setting you use.
The perfect Church amp?

I'll have to look for a store that carries them because judging a piece of gear via clips on the web is like test driving a car on the internet.
