Hi everyone,

I live in Missouri and I enjoy shopping, reading and watching movies. My passion is baking. My specialty is a Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cake with Chocolate Cinnamon Cream Cheese frosting and almost everything I make is chocolate. I also enjoy photography and scrapbooking.

I'm 35 and have never been married. I don't have any children but do have a cat who is just a little spoiled.

Welcome aboard HisCandelabra! Yes, spoiled cats are definitely a common sight here.

(I would say mine is less spoiled now that I have to feed her a prescription diet, but she apparently hasn't gotten that memo yet.)

I'm not sure I'd know what to do with a cat that wasn't spoiled. I do think my little angel takes it to a new level though. She requires a personal escort to the food bowl every time she's hungry. Wish I could go back and not do whatever started that!

I used to think that I had trained her but finally realized it was the other way around.

Cats are unfortunately good at that.

Well, this is officially my first post in the singles folder and I have enjoyed reading the posts in here while I was in lurk mode. I am coming out of lurk mode because my divorce will be final in just a few months.

I will give you some brief background on me and where I am coming from. I am almost 37 and have been married almost 16 years. I have two small boys ages 7 and 2 that I just adore. Once I figure out how to post more pictures of them I will. I seem to be constantly fighting the computer and the camera. Anyway, I am an elementary school teacher by trade but I am working on passing state appointed tests to certify me in teaching math to jr/high school kids. When I am not taking care of the kids, working on my new credential, working as a sub teacher and trying to keep up with friends and social stuff, I like to read, read and do so more reading. I don't have much time for it right now but when things settle down, I plan to read like I used to.

I haven't formally introduced myself here either. I've spent most of my time in the games forum and praise and prayer requests.

After 28 years my husband went to heaven after fighting cancer with all his heart. I have an 11 year old daughter which I had to get Dr and major God help to even have her. So that's why I'm this older mom of a preteen. Yes it's been quite a transition to singlehood here. At first I felt overwhelmed as I realized all my husband could do and "fix." He was a vibrant Christian who also was a soul winner. So even though I feel like I'd like to start again in a marriage I know I have watch if I'm truly "ready" yet.

Anyway that's my "saga."

We look forward to getting to know you better!

Hello all! This is my first post. I'm happy to be here and hope to get to know you all more. Here's the basics about me.

Name: Becky aka "blue"

Location: Michigan

How long have you been posting/lurking?: Just joined yesterday and decided to do more than lurk although I'm a little intimidated. Not by you all, but by the system in general.

What do you enjoy doing?: I'm a girl of my interests. I love anything competitive. Really I don't care if I win, I just like to play. I especially enjoy golf and board games. Other things I enjoy are photography, travel, baking, spending quality time with friends and family. . . I could go on but I'll stop there.

Tell us a little about yourself: I've lived in MI my entire life except during my college years. Now I work as a Registered Nurse. Oh yeah, I'm 32 (can't hardly believe it, but I am).

Welcome, blueeyedgirl! Don't be too intimidated by the forums... just take your time and check it out and don't try to take it all in at once. Just find a thread that interests you and jump right in.

Also, you'll find a few people here from Michigan.

Hi Blue! Welcome!

I am one of the ones that lives in Michigan, too. I'm from here but have lived in 4 other states but keep coming back. I'm kind of hoping to stay now. It's great to have another Michigander here! I look forward to seeing you around here and getting to know you better.

Have fun!

I wasn't going to do this at first, but then I thought, why not?

Name:

ekserekseez. My name is Xerxes, like the dead Persian dude. I use this screen name because this is how people often pronounce Xerxes! I pronounce the x: "Kserk-seez".

Location:

New York City. Manhattan. Upper East Side.

How long have you been posting/lurking?:

A few days

What do you enjoy doing?:

Travel, hockey, riding, shooting, fencing, food/wine, art, music

Tell us a little about yourself:

I'm 36, single (probably permanently), both parents still alive, one sister on the East Coast, one nephew. I spend most of my time traveling, at the gym, shopping, humoring my parents, and bailing my sister out of messes. I collect tapestries, venetian glass, firearms, and majolica. I was in the military for a few years but it didn't do me much good. I am sort of a slacker, I admit, but people do think that I'm amusing company, at least in short doses. I dress up well, and can be extremely polite when necessary. Girls' parents love me on first introduction, although this usually changes with time. I am 6'4', have red hair, and am highly expendable.

Welcome, Xerxes! Glad to have another red-head here... find a few threads that interest you and just jump right in.

What kind of traveling do you do: business or pleasure? Where are some of your favorite destinations? Just curious because I've been doing more traveling these days.

Hi Grace-in-Mercy!

Glad to meet another red head! I travel for pleasure, mostly for art, culture, food, and music, but also for nature.

My favorite place of all is Italy, where I go whenever I can. Rome, Venice, and Florence are amazing beyond words! I also love Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and London. I've been all around the Mediterranean: Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Greece, Spain, southern France.

Only been a bit to Asia: Beijing and Tokyo. I would like to see the Great Wall though. And I am going this winter to Antarctica for the first time, just so I can say I've been there! Our winter is summer there, so it's comparatively warm.
