It was a beautiful restaurant with some great steaks, superb salad bar and wonderful desserts. Service was out of this world. You can even go over to the butcher shop and pick out your cut of meat. The owner, in the dead of winter, goes up to Iowa every year to pick the cattle that the beef he serves will come from. Only the fattest juiciest cows in the blizzards are picked. Hence the quality of the meat... OK, he doesn't hand pick the cows, but he does go up there every year to make the best deal on the best beef he can get.

Dessert was complimentary because of the anniversary and they took our photo. We had a very good time and were stuffed by the time we got home.

My wallet was noticeably lighter though....

Hey - every little bit of lighter counts.

I'm very glad y'all had such a good time, Ben!

Sounds like a pretty fancy place. But this Texan steakhouse doesn't use Texan beef? I'm shocked! Are Iowan cows corn-fed, whereas the Texan ones have to scrounge too much on the range?

I'm glad you had a good time together. I keep praying for you. {{{{{{{{Ben}}}}}}}

Hey there now.....we may not endure blizzards, but we do endure blistering summers.

Be careful what you say about Texans, Ben....we're watching.

Like 'em too much to eat 'em it seems to me.

Some folks would call 'em soft.

Now THERE'S a good term for them! Softies--can't eat their own meat. They have to take it from someplace else.

Do you not have that expression in Canada?

I don't use it much, but every once in a while, it's nice to have at hand...

HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY BEN AND LYNN!!!

Now I am glad that you both had a good dinner out!

quote:

Lynn isn't doing as well though. Sleep is the big issue. One of the meds she was on had her awake every night. Now that she quit that one the sleepless nights come about every third night. That was an anti-depressant, and she obviously needs to be taking one. She sees her doctor early next month.

Ben, I am on anti-depressants myself. Ironically my counselor gave me sleeping pills in the past and they knocked me out! Now I find that the only time I cannot sleep is when I forget to take my regular anti-depressant, go figure. I hope Lynn is able to sleep real soon!

LOL!!

My sis in law and brother in law that live across the bay from San Fran, told me when they first went to CA, people from there would tell them to go to such and such place for steak, it was such great steak etc.
She said nothing she had back then even compared to the steaks she was used to here in Wisconsin.

I have yet to find out but maybe some day.

I checked with Josh and Anoush to be sure they have a grill at their new apartment. I'll bring the steak if they will grill it! YUM!!

(((((Ben & Lynn))))) Glad you had a good time.

Happy (belated) Anniversary Ben and Lynn!!

My friend, Sheila, who moved to Arizona said they just can't eat the steak out there. They were VERY happy to get some organicly grown steaks from our neighbors in Wisconsin!! She said that's what she misses the most from Wisconsin...the meat and the cheese.

Still praying for you all.

That's a common side-effect. As is getting sleepless nights after coming off meds. Hopefully they should reduce soon.
