..... heya DS... I am doing okay...

Dave and I gave our big presentation on Sunday night... it went really well... lots of people were stopping by my office to talk about it.

I was sooo exhausted today... I skipped going to my regular group meeting (2 hrs away).... Dave still went... he's a real trooper.

I stayed home and watched a Hallmark movie with the girls and we worked on homeschooling...

It's been a good night....

.... oh.... and those deleted frustrations? I gave them to God....

What's goin' on in your guys' lives???

OOOOoooo!!! The flu virus is going around big here! Lots and lots of kids are out sick from school... I'm soooo glad my kids aren't in public school! I'm positive that we would all be sick if they were in school!

Glad you're getting a bit of a breather in there, Rach.

((((((((((((((RACH)))))))))))))))))))

I had a cortisone injection in my finger today. Was screaming the whole time the rheumatologist was checking out my hands. Apparently all the blood drained from my face as she was doing the injection and stayed like that for a few more hours after I got the injection.

Was given a free book by my favourite Christian bookstore. I'm not arguing.

Not a lot new or different. I've avoided the flu so far, but it's not currently widespread around here. I expect I'll get my flu shot when I see the doctor next week.

I haven't had my flu needle yet. John and Joan have had theirs in the last couple of days.

((((Trish!))))) I'm soo sorry about your hands... the pain sounds absolutely horrible.

Heya Mike... any more news about your interview?

Do you guys normally get flu shots? They are not a normal occurence for us... I can't remember every getting one!

I do need to schedule a doctor appointment... I'm just not excited about having to take the time off work... going to the doctor here means taking at least a half day off work if not more!

Rach that is too bad that it takes so long at the doctor.

Yes. I've been getting flu shots for years, even before I became a diabetic. I had two bouts with the flu in the early 1990's which were followed by subsequent complications, such as bronchitis and walking pneumonia. I never want to go through that again!

My former employer eventually started providing annual flu shots as a benefit in hopes of cutting down on the number of sick days taken by employees. I have to fend for my own shot now that I'm no longer employed, but I'm hoping it'll be covered by insurance since I'm considered high-risk.

Earlier this week I attended a special service at a small church about 70 miles north of where I live. It's in the middle of nowhere, at least compared to metropolitan Washington, DC. But it's actually only 15 miles east of Frederick, a small city, and roughly 40 miles from Baltimore. Rach, it sounds like you're even further out in the boonies than they are.

I've been getting flu needles in recent years. Being diabetic and asthmatic, they see those things as chronic health problems. Asthma runs in my family. My grandfather died of emphysema, my youngest brother has asthma. I didn't have asthma until my 20s when I was working in childcare. I'd never had bronchitis either, but started getting it when I worked in childcare. I never lost the breathing problems.

I've never had a flu shot but have had a couple shots at getting the flu.

I thought we were in the boonies, 18 miles from CVS, Walgreen's, and Wal-Mart. Are you 45 miles from groceries as well, Rachel?

Living with my pretty elderly parents for the past 4 yrs, I've always gotten flu shots. My experience is that when I get sick, it's significantly less severe. What would normally kick my butt for a week is now merely 24 hours of not feeling well until the fever passes. RARELY am I sick for more than a day or two. The two day is really bad.

I swear by them! I cannot afford to be sick for long periods of time.

Hi Rach.

I was over in your part of the country last weekend, maybe within 50 miles of you.

I have been sick this week too. All day Monday and then every night since. I think it is a virus. But I do take flu shots too.

...... this is a good idea, DS. Very cool... and yeah... we are in the boonies.

Joy - Well, the ONE grocery store is about a 20 mile drive into town. There we have two dollar stores of sorts and several small establishments. There is one flashing light at a 3-way stop on the main road through town. Everything closes at 9pm if not before. The girls and I tease each other. We have one Alco store... we call it 'Mini-Walmart'! The next big town is a 35-40 minute drive. There is an actual Wal-Mart and a Lowe's there. We quit driving there... it's not worth the time and gas money to go shopping there!

Hey Trish! I didn't know you worked in child-care before! Tell me more about it... what was your favorite part about working in child-care?

Hey Lisa! I didn't realize that flu shots worked so well... I seriously couldn't imagine why I'd want to go through the discomfort of having a flu shot if it really didn't work... Thanks for stopping by to post!

Hey Gary! What were you doing so close?! I hope you are feeling much better soon.....

I had a productive day today... I got my bills paid and have straightened them all out into different files... I started organizing my closet... but will probably finish tomorrow... I had some good family time... my dog was cuddly with me today... it was a good day.

Hi Rach. My Sweetie had two concerts in the area, Saturday night and Sunday morning. We had one Sunday night about half way home. But it was a long weekend.

Could you come organize mine when you get done with yours?

Actually, my room needs organization, not just my closet.
