Hi Rach, I now have regular internet connections again, so I will be able to post more. That is when all my projects allow me to post.

Hi Mike! I haven't traveled much this year aside from a few trips home to visit my father. Same state but different culture - Northern Virginia is NOT the South.

Yes DS, I agree! BTW, the only trip that I took this year was to the Singles-GT in Indiana. It is highly unlikely that I will do any other big traveling at all this year, although I may go to either NYC or contemplate another trip to Washington DC maybe.

ORIGINAL: rayofson Yesterday Tooshy was at church on her off day...unpaid...waiting for a package to be delivered...for over six hours. . . . ..... oh for Pete's sake!!! I started keeping track of my actual hours on a spreadsheet. That way, when I need or want to take some time off for prison ministry (etc).... I can show them that I am due the hours off. I am basically paid a salary for 30 hours a week - no over time. Even though they don't have a comp-time policy... I still act like there is one! Tracking my hours like that lets them know that they need to respect my personal time. Now... packages? I don't worry about them! I just leave a note for the driver and I let them sit at the door! I go later on in the day and check but usually - there are soo many people going in and out of our building at odd hours... someone will pick it up and set it next to my office door. Hey Rosie!!!!! Good to see you!!! How are you doing down there in FL??? Hey DS and Mike!! All the traveling has been a 'God thing'. He provided a way, a place to stay, and the meals! .... and Mike, I did find Little Rock way more comfortable than my little town! Little Rock was awesome... I'll skip the hotel... let's just say - these days... you get what you pay for! We were able to attend the Friday night Celebrate Recovery at the church. It was a wonderful night. I met so many brothers and sisters in Christ... it was amazing! We went back early the next morning for the seminar. The seminar was totally awesome!!!! Dave and I met one of the Texas representatives and had a good chat with her. She was able to give us more specific encouragement. It will be a long while before our group can be listed as a bonafide group... but we have support from the CR leaders for sure! We also got to have lunch with the National Celebrate Recovery Prison Director. That was equally as awesome and now I have the information and tools I need to take CR into our local jail. He even gave us special permissions and instructions on how to modify the program to fit in jails and prisons. There were about 350 people there... the food was awesome... the volunteers serving us were awesome... the program was awesome... it was a great day!!! Dave took me to a Mongolian BBQ place before we headed home.... I had never been to one before so it was an interesting meal! The 5.5 hour drive home seemed ever soooo loooong!!! We straggled in about 11:45pm, hugged the girls and fell into bed. Isn't coming home a good feeling? We are up this morning... well Dave and I are. I let the girls sleep in! We will all head to church in a little over an hour. I am soooo excited to put all that I learned into use!!! Praise the LORD for safe travels! Praise the LORD giving us the tools we need in order to serve Him here - better! Have a great day, guys! Don't forget to take time out and rest.... Love you! Rachel

. . . . ...... John Baker is the man who developed the recovery program that Dave and I will be doing here. God has really blessed the program... over 12,000 known churches use it... it has been in existence for 18 years. But really... John Baker is just a man.

Do you have a link for this ministry? Sounds like something that could be used in this area.

. . . . ...... celebraterecovery.com There may be a group near you... they have a page on their website dedicated to locations all over the US. It's a fantastic faith-based 12 step program geared for healing of hangups, hurts and habits... The issues are not just recovery from drugs... the program makes it possible to address any issue: grief, food addictions or behaviors, codependency, pride, control, sexual addictions, gambling, depression... you name it.. you fit in! I agree with thousands of others that we all should go through the program at least once! There are many more groups than are on the website. The ones on the website have been certified as true and working Celebrate Recovery groups.

Hi Rach, I just read your blog earlier tonight and I have to agree with you about not allowing technology rule someones life. It is one of the pet peeves with me living in the city! In other news: quote:
The issues are not just recovery from drugs... the program makes it possible to address any issue: grief, food addictions or behaviors, codependency, pride, control, sexual addictions, gambling, depression... you name it.. you fit in! Now do you see mixing one with a chemical dependency with ones who have other addictions or issues a delicate one? I think that different issues work at different levels.

Now do you see mixing one with a chemical dependency with ones who have other addictions or issues a delicate one? I think that different issues work at different levels. . . . ....... as the groups grow larger, they break off into issue specific groups. Men meet with men. Women meet with women. There is never any gender mixing. So yes... in larger groups you will find group time looking like: Mens Chemically Dependant (drugs, smoking, prescription drugs, etc.) Mens Codependency (control, pride, anger, etc.) Mens Sexual Addictions (porn, lust etc.) and Womens Chemically Dependant (drugs, smoking, prescription drugs, etc.) Womens Codependency (control, pride, anger, etc.) Womens Sexual Addictions (porn, lust etc.) The whole idea is that there is a safe place to talk about your challenges or addictions... a place where no one judges, no one points fingers, no one tells anybody else. You guys would be surprised at how freeing unloading your shame and guilt from exposing your 'secrets' is.... it frees you to follow and love Christ at a higher level. Maybe, Roberta, you are the one to start a group in your area! Have a great day, Guys!!! <3 ..... anybody notice that CW is VERY glitchy lately??

. . . . ..... Hey guys! Just popping in here for a sec! Dave and I have been working hard at getting our presentation ready for Celebrate Recovery. We are going to have an informational meeting for our church Sunday night. I've also invited 15 other churches. I have no idea how many people will be there... but I know that God will take care of the details. We've met with our guest speaker and a CR mentor to help us iron out what we will be presenting... It's gonna be cool. I'm very tired. Today is Wednesday... which means a very long day for me if I go with my girls to youth group and then with my husband to 'big church' tonight.... Wednesdays make me feel 'churched out'. [deleted frustrations space] I hope all have a wonderful day... please pray for Princess Donna and her family as they face more surgery for her husband. Love you all, Rachel
