I have heard that if you have little CF, eat carrots. I'm not sure if it's the vitamin A or beta carotene or what, but it's supposed to help.

Jen, if you are even slightly dehydrated it can have an effect on cm. (or it does with me)

I can get up, go to the bathroom, and get back to bed without it affecting my temps. Also, I can wake up early, and as long as I am still drowsy/sleepy/just barely awake I won't notice a difference in temps. However, if I am fully awake for a while before the time to take the temp, I do notice a difference - it tends to be higher. (and by fully awake I don't mean up and about, just fully awake)

I generally don't have any issues with being fully awake before my alarm though. I generally want to sleep until well after it goes off.

I would think that the changes in your period are due to the D&C's rather than your miscarriage. Are you taking allergy meds?

I wonder if cooked carrots would have the same effect. I can't seem to handle them raw too well.

Being fully awake before my alarm isn't so bad for temping; I just take my temp once I realize I'm fully awake regardless of the time, and allow for any discrepancies the time diff would cause. Now that I've stopped drinking any water a couple hours before bed, and using an eye mask, I'm not tending to wake up all the way as much, but I still wonder if dozy almost-awakenings could have an effect.

I'm not on any meds except a vitamin supplement, an iron supplement, and cranberry capsules; can't see how any of those would have an effect. I'm thinking the water intake may be a key factor though.

Re my period, my doctor did tell me it would be lighter for the first couple of cycles because of the depletion of the lining, but when my periods didn't get heavier that's when he said it would be my "new normal". As long as the D&C didn't affect my ability to get pregnant I'll be happy; as it is, who can complain about a shorter, lighter, less crampy period?

Mind you, the lack of cramps is probably directly attributable to my abstinence from chocolate and other caffeine sources. Painful but worth it.

Yes, it's the vitamin A. When my CM was low, I took straight Vitamin A every day. Then I produced TONS!

If it's the vitamin A, I think I've figured it out!!! I just switched to a prenatal multivitamin; my old one had sufficient folic acid for pre-pregnancy use but is contraindicated for pregnancy because it's too high in Vitamin A. Last time I was pregnant I was taking it until I was pregnant; this time I thought I'd be super-cautious and switch before pregnancy, so I've been getting less vitamin A.

I still have some left; I will try switching back and see if it makes a difference.

Guess I'll pick up some Vitamin A... I don't take a whole prenatal anymore, just iron and folic acid.

I am on vacation(and CD2)... does anyone remember the rules for temping on vacation? I *want* to temp but don't know if it's going to be worth it since I'll be changing 2 time zones in about 10 days. I really feel like I should be since we are going to start TTC next month and I want to have an idea of what my cycle is doing.

Also, has anybody ever barely any change in their fluid at all? My cervix changed, and I had wet vs dry, but never anything beyond a tiny bit of moisture. I used to have lots of the clear egg-white stuff before Oing. Maybe my body is still messed up from the miscarriage.

My first cycle after the miscarriage (and D&C), I never saw any EW CF at all... but I must have been fertile enough because I got pregnant.

I've also heard that you should drink grapefruit juice, but I don't recommend that anymore. When I was trying to get pregnant, I drank a gallon or more a week and I did get pregnant (don't know if the juice had anything to do with it), but now I have kidney stones (which also may or may not have anything to do with the grapefruit juice).

I think you're supposed to work your way forward (or backward) in 20 min chunks; wouldn't be too bad for 2 time zones, and if it's not a crucial time of your cycle you could do it in half-hour chunks (eg if your wakeup time is 7, two days before you leave get up at 6:30, then the next get up at 6, then when you arrive at the location, get up that day at 7:30, then at 7. Then reverse it when you're back. Two time zones is doable; more than that gets tricky. We crossed 6 time zones on our honeymoon and I just said fugeddaboudit.

Hmm; this is why I should have started tracking right away. I think I saw EWCF after the miscarriage... or at least fluid of some kind... but none this cycle at all.

Re grapefruit juice, it is known to inhibit the liver's release of certain medications; if you're on cholesterol meds for example, you can't have grapefruit. So it could have been interfering with something else in your system, who knows?

Apparently weight changes can affect CF as well; I am currently losing weight, but very slowly (approx 1 lb/wk) so I wonder if that would do it.

Thanks, Anne. It's been 2 years since I temped seriously and I don't have my copy of TCOYF handy. I think I decided I'm just going to wait until we get home, it should be a few days before I O and long enough(with OPK's) to see a temp dip and rise.

What do you think the chances are of being exactly the same temp for several days running? I've been 36.7 C since Saturday. I'm starting to wonder if my thermometer is broken.

I've tried taking my temp at other times of day and it always comes out the same, but I do see the numbers moving up to 36.7 as I'm waiting for it to beep. Do you think changing the battery would make a difference?

It only rounds to one decimal so maybe I am actually going up or down almost half a degree, but it's always rounding to the same number.

If you're doing it at different times of the day, then it shouldn't stay 36.7. Your temp will fluctuate during the day - maybe even as much as a degree (errr... half a degree in C?)

Well, it was down this morning as AF came to visit so it ain't the thermometer; unless it's somehow topping out at 36.7 and can't go any higher.

Are you relieved?

I started temping/charting again. How do you all deal with FF/Ovusoft marking ovulation as the day after a + OPK? I know I ovulated on Friday, not Saturday but it skews my chart to mark a +OPK on thursday, when really I had a negative one that day. Maybe I'll fiddle with the settings.

Sort of. Now, I'm wondering what's up with my cycle and when/if my period is going to show up. (I hate not knowing that...)
