Does/can the bleeding still occur in a normal monthly cycle pattern?

My cycles before I started the progesterone cream were about 5-6 weeks, but my regular ones are 4 1/2 - 5 weeks anyway so...
What I understood (and I can't say I understood correctly) is that menstruation regularly starts because your progesterone levels fall. I was told that I have low progesterone anyway and then some months almost none which is why mine went longer. From the pamphlets on it, it would seem if someone's was just low they could still have a 'timely' cycle because there would still be a drop in the progesterone.

But like I said, no idea if I understood correctly. He had to repeat it a few times and I had to read the stuff more than once.

So that was probably no help... sorry and there doesn't seem to be an abundance of helpful medical websites either

Isn't part of having a cycle not just about ovulation but also about cleaning out the uterus (sloughing off the gunk)?

I had my baby in December and had 4 or 5 normal cycles with ovulation and everything. However, I don't think I ovulated this last time. I had no mucous at all until a day before my period started but my period was still on time. It'll be interesting to see what happens this time around.

In the three years I've charted, I've never not ovulated until now.

Menstruation is regulated by the hormone levels in the body. Ovulation is part of that regulation. It is possible to have regular bleeding and no ovulation. It would indicated something preventing the ovulation from occurring.

Yes the same for me too. Now I have only recently started charting, but knowing about fertile mucus and what not, I know I have always ovulated each cycle. It has only been since having Mary, (I've now had three cycles) that I have not had any of those fertile signs. Now I have my "theory" about that, and I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that I now have "issues" since we haven't gone that route yet.

Blarg. I broke my glass basal thermometer last night. So in having to replace it, I was just wondering what brands or types you ladies prefer.

I've only had the digital one I got through CCLI. So far, so good.

Reli-On - 60-Second Basal Thermometer

(that's a link)

I just bought it not long ago, and I like it so far. It stores the last number, and it seems to work quickly, so... all good. =)

I bought the Rite-Aid brand and have liked it so far.

Well, I've definitely ovulated this time around. Whew, glad for that!

I have 2 friends who do NFP and both have gotten pregnant when their babies were 3 or 4 months old. Both have said that NFP doesn't work until you've had a couple of cycles. Has anyone else heard that or experienced that? It's obviously worked for us since I'm not pregnant yet. That is, assuming, I could get pregnant as easily now as I did with Josie!

the NFP book and TCOYF talk about using it when breastfeeding ... whether you exclusively breastfeed or not.

I used it while bf, the only times that I had problems is when I tried to push the rules a bit... I've never heard that you need to have a couple of cycles before it's reliable, though.

That's silly! If you know your body's fertile signs you don't need to have a couple of cycles for it to work...now if you've never done NFP before and are starting for the first time after you've had a baby and while nursing that can be a bit tricky for sure!

You can have a lack of fertile signs, and still be fertile. I hardly ever get "fertile" cf and I conceived a perfectly healthy little one. I usually get one good "wipe" of creamy fluid and that's it for anything remotely fertile.

Yes...but that is your body's fertile cf. That's the point of NFP...knowing *your* body's signs.

Right. See before I started NFP I always noticed the EWCF. Between each cycle (and not really knowing what that was all about each time). And so now, I have had three cycles and never seen it. However I do get a few days of like you say Ryanne, a good wipe of creamy fluid. With that said, it is surprising that I am not pregnant because we have not used any protection or abstained much during those times.

It's not surprising if you believe that God opens and closes the womb in His good pleasure and timing.

Have you found that your cycles have changed after giving birth? Mine has changed both times from before I had Hannah.

As a matter of fact that is exactly what I think. I firmly believe that due to what is going on in our lives right now, God has closed my womb for the time being. I very much so desire to have another child, but to have one now would not be good "timing". This is not a concept that I have held onto for a long time. Only recently during my journey in my faith walk and frankly from joining the Catholic church, I have developed a whole new understanding and remain open to new life. (I'm not sure if that makes sense to you or not)

After my first two deliveries I did not notice a change, but I have definitely noticed a change after Mary. Night and day difference.
