Speaking of phones...

The neighbor visited this farmer who had a reputation for being set in his way. The neighbor noticed that the farmer had finally had a phone installed. While they sat at the kitchen table talking the phone rang. Then it rang again. The farm kept on talking. The neighbor wondered if the man was getting hard of hearing.

"Did you know your phone was ringing?" he asked the farmer.

"Yup" was the reply he got. But the farm kept on talking about other matters.

The neighbor was very curious. "Why aren't you answering your phone?" he asked.

The farmer looked him straight in the eye, and said, "I put that in for my convenenience, not somebody else's."

Old joke just now told again by an old guy who is celebrating his birthday today.

Oh, Deb and I have one of the cell phone services that cost about $5 a month to maintain, and only use to make calls if and when we need to when we're out and about. At home we use a regular line phone with unlimited nationwide service so we can anybody (such as her family in California) anytime we want.

Happy Belated Birthday, John!

I'm glad you and Debbie Lynne had a good time celebrating. It's a blessing to read about y'all's life together.

Hi Shar Mar. I had to quit your thread (at least for now) because I couldn't keep up.
I know the feeling sometimes! LOL

In time, maybe I'll return to yours. I always loved writing my rambling, stream-of consciousness posts to you. Your responses made me laugh.
Come and go as you want, Debbie Lynne. That's that thread is for. And your rambling, stream-of-consciousness posts are always welcomed over there; I really enjoy reading them.

When do you start training for your job, anyway?
Training starts in December . . . but it's via a school and not a specific place of employment. The job will come later. I'm very much looking forward to this new aspect of my life. It's amazing how one plane trip can change a person's life; LOL Our Lord is so very good. Always.

Y'all be blessed.

My favorite Disney character is Grumpy, because he's the only one in the movie who actually changes. Snow White, like most Disney princesses, is entirely superficial, falling head-over-heels in love with a man she knows nothing about (other than that he's hansome and has a good singing voice). Maybe his speaking voice is like Gomer Pyle's. Maybe he forgets to put his dirty underwear in the hamper? Maybe they aren't of the same religious faith. Maybe he's the nekid axe murderer that I keep reading about on these forums! My point is that Snow White enters into marriage recklessly, and has no personality beyond her addiction to romance, whereas Grumpy allows himself to be tranformed by love.

The above rant was inspired by Shar-Mar's avatar.

ROFLOL!!!

I'm honored.

I honestly don't remember if I've ever seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or not. I'm not much into the various fantasy princesses.

I did like your review of the movie; especially concerning Grumpy and his transformation.

My avatar is a photo I took of a collector's plate that I'm currently selling on eBay. I thought it turned out to be a pretty cool photo, so decided to use it as an avatar for a few days.

I love messing with classic fairy tales.

As for Goldilocks, first she's guilty of breaking and entering. Then she not only steals food, but complains about its quality. Talk about a poster child for Entitlement Programs! And sleeping in strange beds! Does anyone see a problem there?

And as I recall, didn't the little bear's chair break when Goldilocks sat in it? (at least in some of the versions of the story) She ought to have been arrested!

Thanks for all the birthday greetings, everybody.

Deb and I definitely did have a good time celebrating my birthday. Hopefully celebrating her bithday will be just as fun. Hers is coming up on the 30th of ths month.

Regarding Little Red Ridinghood. In a modern version of the story the hunter would have to be arrested for shooting and cutting open the wolf if it was on the endangered species list.
