The technician from John's wheelchair vendor was here Friday, and is back today, fixing John's chair. It's been four months since he called in the perscription (it's a Medicare thing). The guy wanted to come yesterday, but we were at the brace shop yesterday getting a mold made for John's new body jacket (which he's been needing for several years). So John's going to be all set! We're praising the Lord, and thought all of you would like to join in the rejoicing.

We did get home via public transit, and in the process learned how we could get to the Museum of Fine Arts without using the RIDE. So now we know how we'll celebrate our anniversary next month. Sadly, I made a series of poor choices and got a migraine. So, Marsha, no need for envy. Hopefully Friday we can go play in Boston.

Yay! Praise God!

Was the migraine yesterday, or are you still suffering?

So sorry you got a migraine, Deb. I definitely don't envy you there. I am blessed by rarely having a headache, just cold or sinus. It's quiet muggy here, Deb, but I hope Friday is a good day for you and John. Good about John's body brace . That's an accomplishment to feel good about.

Sarah, looks like you had fun making your post. Pretty color.

Sue, the migraine's pretty much over. I dehydrated, among other things. Actually, as soon as I got in bed (Favored Attendant came an hour and a half early when she heard I had a migraine), I felt much better! Would you believe I even watched TV? I'm drinking a lot of water today, and I'll take time t drink from my water bottle when I'm out from now on!

Yesterday, after they took the mold for John's new body jacket, they replaced the straps on his current one (his fitting is in two weeks). What a difference! He has much more stamina because he can breathe properly! So yes, Marsha...this is definitely a good thing!

Deb might have been able to skip the migraine if we'd had lunch and a good long drink of water right after the back brace mold was made. But the only nearby eating establishment that I knew of was up a very very long ramp that I thought DebbieLynne might have trouble with. (It wasn't wide enough for our chairs to up it side by side.) That was a mistake. We didn't get to eat or drink very much until quite a bit later. We'll try not to do that again.

Oh...Deb was supposed to tell you guys that I went to Boston yesterday and got plastered.

I did...at the brace shop!

lol, John and Deb.

When it's difficult to go to the bathroom, it's tempting not to drink much, for me, anyway.

That's like me telling people Merv's going to prison or jail again. You should have seen the look on Joe's friend's face when I said that.

I love it, Sue!

It looks like we'll finally get to have lunch with Mike Friday! That plan kept us from running of to Boston today. The weather's beautiful, so we went over to the hardware store. But going in to Boston three time in one week would be a bit much, I think.

I hope it works out this time and that the weather cooperates.

You know how you always get off the computer during a lightening storm? Very wise, I usually do too, but yesterday I was being stubborn. I was reading the boards while supper was cooking and the power went out. We were in the dark for 2 hours. It was a nasty storm with lots of lightening and high winds. A tree next to our home was damaged by the winds. It ended up leaning over and resting on the neighbor's house. It didn't break anything and the Merv and the boys have most of it cut down now. I'm just thankful that it wasn't any worse than that.

Isn't it dangerous to stay online during a storm?

It can be dangerous, it can also damage the computer. I read a news article a while back about a lady who was using a computer when her house was hit by lightening. Electricity shot out and her heart stopped. She was revived, but she had burns and nerve damage. I know better, in fact I always make my family get off the computer during a storm. I just wanted to get a couple more things done before I shut it off. Not very smart on my part.

Do you have a death wish, Sue?

Hi Marsha and Rachel. Good to see you both here.

I'm not very verbal today. After lunch, I played with Paint Shop Pro for almost two hours, and I'd like to play more. But I figured I needed fellowship, so I came online. Of course, now I can't think of much to say...

Actually, I felt like a naughty little kid. I knew I shouldn't be doing it and that there might be consequences, but I did it anyway. All the time there was this little voice in my head reminding me how stupid I was being. I'm pretty sure that when the power went off, the little voice said, "Naa, Naa, Naa, told you so!" No, I'm not going crazy. I've always had arguments with myself.

The odds are much more likely that using your computer during a storm can toast your computer's power supply. It's better to turn it off. The power at our house has such a poor reliability history that I use a UPS power supply that my computer plugs into. If the power spikes, it protects the computer. If the power goes out, it gives me enough battery backup time to shut down the computer safely.

..... those UPS things can be pricey though, can't they?

We had one at my last job.... it was a cool little thingy.... although.... getting to it during a power outage proved to be a challenge! lol!

I've been playing with Paint Shop Pro most of today...mostly experimenting. A friend asked me to do a portrait of her Boston Terrier. Those are my favorite dogs, and I really wish I could have one. Anyway, I've downloaded two of the four photos she sent, and I'm trying to decide which to paint.

Looks like we'll finally see Mike tomorrow!
