I've never dated a hag...

Hahaha!

Well, I'm back at work and still in shock about my fellow officers. More info is coming out and it's more shocking at how far down into the muck they had gone. I just don't understand it and I don't ever want to understand it.

Of course, what makes it worse is that some of the inmates get newspapers so of course ALL the inmates know all the sordid details as corrupt law enforcement officers is always big news.... I also think it's amazing how fast gossip flies in a jail even in 23 hour lockdown...

Well, I worked the floor today. It was the first time in a while between working booking a lot, being sick and taking vacation. Apparently I was missed. I forgot how much you get hit on when you work the floor (if you are a female officer that is). At one point, I heard some knocking on one of the windows and saw about 4 male inmates with their noses pressed to the window smiling at me and waving. I did get a few good snarks in today though. We were gathering some inmates for court and we all heard some pounding coming from one of the interior walls of the jail (the inmates didn't know our maintenance guy was working in one of the tanks). One of the felons made some comment that I should go check it out. I replied, "Not to worry. The inmates are fine - they're just tunnelling out the wrong wall..."

They found that very funny and thought I should go tell the inmates in the loud tank that....

Later, one of our murderers called me over and told me he wanted a hug. I told him he was out of luck. He then told me he would give me a hug and I again passed. He finally said that he would give me a hug if I didn't get them the pencil sharpener so they could sharpen their pencils. I replied, "I guess that means I'd better get you the pencil sharpener."

He laughed...

.....Then thought about it for a minute and moaned "ooooowwwwwwww" while the rest of the felons laughed....

I can honestly say that never in a million years did I think I'd ever get to tease cold-blooded murderers during the course of my work day...

Or any other time of day for that matter....

I knew you'd understand!

Well, it's after 8pm and I still haven't eaten dinner yet so I suppose I should actually do that... Goodnight!

Hey Kristin,
Here's a recipe that uses leftover chocolate:

For each serving:

1 large graham cracker, broken into two squares.
1 marshmallow
Pieces of leftover chocolate to equal 1 Hershey bar

Melt chocolate in microwave with marshmallow, mix together, then put between graham cracker squares. Yummy!

Yes, I did make this up. Sounds good though.

I've had dozens of conversations with murderers, and can honestly say that I've never had a cross word with any of them.

Of course I didn't tease them.

I don't like having cross words with anybody, but especially not from a serial murderer or any other violent criminal.

I like living on the wild side...

---------------

Today seemed to go on forever. I'm not sure why - it was just one of those days that seemed to, well, go on forever. Nothing all that exciting (for jail ) happened and I can't think of anything entertaining to share... or at least anything that wouldn't risk a visit of the Red Writing of a Mod...

Yesterday was a little more interesting. I got to freak a cop out which was fun. One of the local PD officers came to the jail to serve one of our female inmates with some papers. Usually, we will pull the inmates from their living area and bring them back to booking but we hadn't had a chance to do that before the officer arrived. My fellow booking officer (who loves teasing anyone and everyone) decided this particular officer needed a new experience. I took the officer back to the female living area and by the time we got to the door, the officer told me he was getting very nervous (ok, I will admit to saying a few things that probably added to his nervousness... ). Anyway, I open the door and called the name of the inmate the officer needed. All the ladies were standing there with their mouths hanging open as the police officer who was with me stepped in behind me (this is probably the first time a patrol officer had stepped into the female living area). The female we were looking for came out, saw the cop and immediately replied with something very TOS and started to walk away. Fortunately, we were able to talk her back and we soon left for the booking area. The officer was shocked. This particular female is horribly scarred as a result of drug abuse (meth sores) and he kept repeating, "That was from drugs?!?!".

It reminded me of something my academy instructors told us: All of you could be patrol officers, but not all patrol officers could be corrections officers.

Anyway, the other interesting thing was dealing with someone I recognized from church...

Well, I've had a somewhat restful day today - just doing some laundry and some light cleaning. I also took a bit of a nap. I didn't sleep well last night as Miss Phoebe got very, very sick. I was really worried about her. She wouldn't eat, she wouldn't purr, she was very lethargic and her breathing was very noisy. Fortunately, when I got up in the morning, she was much, much better. I was already taking her to the vet for her vaccinations and by the time we got there, she was looking very good. He delayed most of her vaccines for a few weeks. He thinks she may have gotten into something or a bad virus. At least she is doing better.

Yesterday was busy at the jail. We were short staffed and even though there weren't a lot of people going to court, with only 2 of us working the floor, we stayed busy. I was worried because after having been excused from firearms qualifications last quarter (we have to qualify quarterly) because of academy stuff, etc, I was supposed to qualify this month and range day was yesterday. I did finally get out there at the very end of the range day for a few minutes in the afternoon though. I was a bit frazzled by the time I went to shoot though after getting in trouble for calling my magazines "clips" and then I emptied my magazines duty ammunition in the trailer with all the target ammo. Apparently, I was supposed to do this in my car so someone didn't accidently use my duty ammo instead of the target ammo (I have to account for all my duty ammo). Of course, I've never been told that before at other range days so... Then, I'm walking out to the targets and this same deputy gets on me about where is my ear protection. Fortunately, I had it around my neck and my Lt said something before I did. I passed the qualifying though (another deputy who went before me had to test again so that added to my nerves) so I'm good for another 3 months.

Now I'm getting ready for trick-or-treaters. Of course, I bought a lot of candy so I am hoping no one shows up...

More for me...

I live in a "secure" building so no one can get in without a key for the entry doors so no gremlins here. But I do buy Halloween candy just in case a ghost or goblin gets in. So far none have come to my door so I have had to force myself to eat the candy so it doesn't go to waste.

I've only seen one set of trick or treaters so far, but it's early too. They didn't stop by here though and I didn't recognize them so that's probably why. They did have trick or treating at the court house yesterday for the public and kids of employees. All of the departments offered candy and such including the jail. The floor officer I was working with yesterday joked that we should have taken a couple inmate trustee uniforms and gone around trick or treating too...

Did you answer the door in your Halloween costume uniform?

We had very few trick-or-treaters thanks to the rain and wind.

My housemates will have to finish up the leftover Halloween candy. It has either peanuts (intolerance), chocolate (potential migraine trigger), or both.
